  1. He's been running for a while now and has been making cuts and says that it feels good and is hoping to get back ASAP. I believe he will know something today. He not only helps the offense but is a really good defensive player also. For a team with 40 players they really have some good depth. I've seen 4 and 5a teams with less. Loved how they kept the defensive front fresh last week to keep the pressure on.
  2. Exactly what I was saying. Most teams would be very happy with that kind balance. I look for the balance to continue and it will be interesting to see how the stats change after this addition and also the return of Josh. One thing I like about the offense is you never know where the ball is going to go. It has to be a nightmare for the opposing coaches.
  3. I get what your saying. I just watched his junior highlights and he does see the field well and hits the hole hard and hard to tackle. One thing I like to see is the blocking down field. I agree the run game just got better. I understand he hasn't been playing any defense at Alcoa but I'm sure he'll get an opportunity to see what he can do on that side of the ball also.
  4. I haven't watched his film yet but I'm sure he's a great athlete but that's not the point I was making. Greenback has ran the ball very effectively and most teams would be very happy with those stats. Nothing wrong with wanting more and I'm excited to watch him play in person. Went to practice last night but they were practicing in the gym and you can't tell much in there.
  5. This is our first year at Greenback and the first thing I noticed after reading a lot of these post is that the last few years have kinda spoiled some of the people here. Everyone talking about getting the running game going and I was thinking it's going pretty dang good. Most people think the transfer help the running game and I'm sure that it will to some degree (I'm excited to see this guy play) but it will also help the passing game. One of the better receivers was playing running back also so that may free up another target down the field. I'll throw out some stats to show what I'm talking about. For the season 159 rushes for 1063 yds averaging 6.7 yds/carry 63 of 114 passing for 1314 yds averaging 11.5 yds/attempt and 20.9 yds/completion 273 plays for 2377 yards for an average of 8.7 yds/play There have been 3 games when they have had more rushing yards than passing and vice versa. 2 games with 200+ yards rushing and 2 games with 200+ yards passing What I have seen is when teams come in geared up to stop the rush they get picked apart by throwing the ball downfield and when they come in to stop the pass we run the ball well. Coach does a great job of taking what the defense is giving and this will give coach another option to take advantage of the defense. We have 3 or 4 boys that have ran the ball well and with #22 coming back along with the new guy it will be more exciting to watch I'm sure. I can't wait for next week!
  6. Not sure why CAK thought they needed so many players in the box all the time??? No safety and man to man on Holden and #4 had the slant open all night. I guess they thought we would run the ball all night. Oh well, great game and atmosphere tonight!
  7. The coaches obviously saw this as well. Yesterday's practice for the running backs was solely on blocking. There were way to many instances where the lead back did NOT block anyone.
  8. You didn't offend me at all, in fact I agree with you. Compared to the first scrimmage at Whitwell I think they have improved considerably. All the linebackers are new save #3 and two of them have never played linebacker before at all. So we will continue to see them get better over the next few weeks. Didn't mean to come off as offended just wanted to show a couple videos of some nice plays to show you there is improvement. I could show a few more good examples from the jamboree and also some that show breakdown in coverage, but who would want to see that.
  9. There is certainly room for improvement but here are a couple videos of some nice hits by our defense. In the first one you can hear the pads pop in the stands and on this video if you turn up the volume. The second video I just barely got the hit on the QB in but he hit the ground pretty hard. #55 was all over the place in the jamboree game and led the team in tackles from DL position.
  10. The boys just told they scored 5 but I'm gonna watch the film when I get home to make sure. I can't remember the 5th one.
  11. I'm not sure who's telling you the score but Greenback varsity won 4-1. Gatlinburg scored early on 1st possession and never got close again. Gatlinburg JV scored 2 or 3 times.
  12. I would think Bryce Hanley with Greenback, last years state championship's MVP, would have to be in there. Not sure exactly what his stats were but not only did he lead the offense but I believe he lead the team in tackles at linebacker also.
