I thought so too. That tailback in the pouring rain would be slowed down. Not to mention the grit factor that wins rain games-is give that to JC’s Defense. HV’s defense sure handled them. The two defenses (HV & JC) are similar in agression and speed. JC’s offense struggles somewhat similar to HV. I guess-it will be a game...

Agreed. If they play in the rain on Friday, would you say it affects UC or JC more?

If I was at AE I would be happy scoring a touchdown or two on this Alcoa team. When they beat Maryville, they tend to sweep it all the way to the carpet. It’s just the way it is.

I stand by my statement, year in and out. I spent a few mins looking at local teams that played them or played their opponents. Usually playing up as well...Tennessee still leads on an even playing field-number wise. Mtn Heritage for example...beat Crocket recently-not exactly amazing, but nothing to sneeze at. However, looking further back for a common opponent...they played Avery and won the same as others from Tennessee (mostly small schools), but if you keep going they lost to Decent Avery in the early 2000s when Cloudland and Johnson County beat them. Not saying they don’t have a good team, but I’m still biased for Tennessee. Watauga is a 5A by TSSAA enrollment. I think without the help they’ve received from the big football program next door, they would still be getting whipped. I think Etown would give them a challenge and I know Greeneville would. (Notice...there was no mention of VA) I guess we can agree on that?

Player injuries is what I’m talking about. They are known for giving “helicopter rides”. Didn’t they score first on you the last time you met them?

Devils advocate here, but the mighty Alcoa vs a little county school? Not a chance...BUT Alcoa playing Johnson County is kind of like a bar-brawler vs a championship boxer . The trained boxer wins every time but they can still get the p knocked out of them. I wouldn’t sneer at them too much-they might draw a little blood before you put them down.

We talk about Region 1 like it is terrible, it’s not. Region 2 is just that good. I’d take one of these good region one teams in Tennessee vs their North Carolina or Virgina neighbors any day.
