  1. Upperman Westview nolensville macon westview macon macon - champs
  2. East has another level of press and pressure. I agree, you must play fast throughout the year. The game will be sped up at some point, even if you control tempo for most the game. You have to be prepared to survive or compete when the game does SPEED UP if you want to compete with the elite teams. Great year for community, but sounds like they just weren’t ready, or couldn’t survive once the game was sped up. really hoping southside, Wooddale, and pearl aren’t on same side. That would be a shame.
  3. Congrats to Pearl Cohn. Pearl Cohn as I said in another thread are an ELITE team. They need a good draw and have great chance to be in the gold ball game. Community, great basketball and atmosphere and honestly place to play. They have possibly best boys team ever there so I have heard, in a traditional just loving basketball place. You CANNOT sleep on East. If you are basing it off of tonight East #0 did not play, a very physical guard. Anyone know why? #24 is a much better shooter than he showed tonight. I think Community and East will be good game. Believe this first time since community has moved up to AA been in this position. Maybe experience will play a factor. East has like 5 losses, 4 to pearl cohn and 1 to Mt.Juliet. I Might have to drive out to ole Unionville for that game. Good luck to All!
  4. Congrats to teams that won, especially Sycamore. By the looks of the score they controlled the game! good luck to all in region Semis
  5. My picks: Mt. Juliet Beech Clarksville NE S.C. Mt. Juliet - 1st Clarksville NE - 2nd
  6. I think there is a very good chance for a sweep. Especially after Hume Fogg beat Maplewood. I just believe Hume Fogg was a better match up for the class of district 9AA -- Sycamore I believe it will end up being Pearl vs. East - episode 4 for the Region Championship Game. Round 1 - Maplewood at Sycamore will be the closest game. I believe it will still be double digit margin victory for Maplewood. All the other games, District 10 could name the score IMO. Good Luck to all!
  7. I think there are 3 teams that are a tier above the rest. Any team to make the state tournament, and most that make sectionals/sub-state are good basketball teams. Sometimes even GREAT teams, or best team school ever had and so on. But there are always 1-3 elite teams. Those teams this year in AA in no particular order are; J. South side Pearl Cohn Woodale
  8. Well, it is tournament basketball so everyone obviously has a chance to win. Personally I just felt sycamore matched up with Hume Fog better than Maplewood. I agree sycamore is the most prepared team as they played a couple region games so they know what to expect. Maplewood is just IMO much better defensively in the post than Hume Fog. I agree hosting Maplewood gives them a better chance, I just think the matchup is better against Hume Fog. If sycamore controls the pace and makes Maplewood play Sycamore basketball, then they will have very good chance to win. That can be tough against the athleticism, willingness to press and pressure both full and half court that Maplewood can present.
  9. Looks like Hume Fog beat Maplewood last night. Sadly not setting up very well for district 9-AA IMO. District 10 sweep regardless of what happens tonight.
  10. That’s true, but they barely escaped against MLK the other night. Probably lucky to win considering events at the end of the game. In saying that, they are still playing, and got the shooting and post play to pull an upset somewhere. Plus they would be home for the region semis and finals.
  11. I haven’t seen Hendersonville at all this year. I am a little surprised, they seem like a bottom dweller by the looks of those power rankings. Are they young/rebuilding or just not talented? Could you post/compare the teams remaining in this Region?

  13. Those were GREAT Cheatham teams. Had some athleticism, and a GREAT shooter. And one of the hardest working, hard nosed kids I seen play around here in a young Douglas back then. I also believe they had a quick as a cat point guard on those teams.Cheatham is well coached. Always dangerous in tournament. Now opportunity to make championship with the westmoreland upset, and possibly win with home court, and if you don’t know, you should know. When those Cheatham schools get together it is a war.
  14. Just a couple opinions. I agree with both sides of the argument. There is technically "strategy" both ways. Whether guard the stalling team better, or learning how to pay with a shot clock. Just a couple thoughts I have about if it was implemented to seriously consider. 1) TSSAA has plenty of money, and if they want membered schools to have a shot clock they need to cut the initial cost check. (WILL NEVER HAPPEN, but they could make it happen.) 2) Go back to two referees, except the third referee would be the shot clock operator. Referees stay together in 3 game cycles. They would rotate two refereeing, 1 working shot clock in 3 game clusters. This would allow no increase in cost to the membered schools, and if #1 was followed, would be the same equipment in every gym. JV games have no shot clock, or could be ran by a volunteer. 3) 40 second shot clock, no more 10 second violations. These are just opinions, and I don't think Tennessee will move to shot clock, until they go to 4 classifications first. Or the Division II schools should implement shot clock first, and see how it goes.
  15. Looking at these games. I don't see any upsets in this round. There usually can be a few in this district as we know. Station Camp probably has the best chance to be upset. Portland has really improved this year, and been competitive. Kudos to their coach and players. Gallatin always scary to play in the tournament as well, but I don't consider the 4/5 game an upset either way it goes. The semi-finals should be good
  16. Right. Any of us who played high school basketball I am sure feel bad for a team full of seniors to have their season cut "short." Give all the credit to Westmoreland, Only winning what like 4 games all year to this point. Big win for their program. Keeping it real, Sycamore now the only team left that has a chance to win a region game. I highly doubt the other side will allow games to be in the high 30's and low 40's. If this district ever wants to compete in the region, they need to open up the game, shoot the three, and be able to survive up tempo game styles and pressure. This district continues to just play slow old school basketball, which allows them to beat each other in the district. Sadly that's where district 9AA's train ends. The District Tournament.
  17. Hard to tell until this district really starts playing each other. Some teams have played really hard schedules, while others very easy. Also, many rivalry games in this district so upsets happen often. Based on what I have seen and scores, I believe Sycamore is the team to beat. Greenbrier, Heritage, and White House can all compete, and will split amongst each other. White House has played a tough schedule, and could be the most dangerous as they have lots of seniors, with lots of experienced playing time. 1. Sycamore 2. Heritage 3. White House 4. Greenbrier 5. Harpeth 6. Cheatham 7. Westmoreland Happy 2020! Let the 2nd of 3 seasons begin.
  18. How everyone looking this year ? Hall of fame games start next week!
