With the game at The Dome, I would expect D-B to be able to handle the Trailblazers with relative ease, but you just never can tell.

Was good to see her back on the court tonight however.

Sullivan North is in a suburb of Kingsport, called Bloomingdale. It's less than 5 minutes from the Virginia-Tennessee line.

Unless a titanic upset occurs between now and then, the regular season district title should be decided on February 5 in a winner take all showdown in the Buck Van Huss Dome between Tennessee High and D-B.

In District 1 tonight, DB beat Science Hill for the third time this season (counting a non district matchup in the Arby's Classic). All three games, DB won by 10 points. Cherokee got their first district win of the season downing Volunteer, and Daniel Boone takes clear control of the 4 spot beating Crockett. Tennessee High beat Sullivan East in non district action in the "Battle of Weaver Pike". Tennessee High now has the top spot on head to head tiebreaker with DB. So I am new to the Tennessee scene... Do they decide ties by a one game playoff if head to head can't determine a winner like they do in Virginia? Also, does the regular season champ get an automatic region bid? If they do not do a one game playoff, what decides the regular season champ? You are correct though, DB and SH should not be challenged the rest of the way in district play. And DB won't go far in region play unless they get Jabrea Johnson back.

Oh I agree with you. Pretty much anyone from Region 1's road ends when they have to face Maryville or Bearden.

No major upsets out of District 1 last night. The big 3 of Dobyns Bennett, Tennessee High and Science Hill all took care of business with relative ease. Friday night is the first of three games which will decide the regular season champion as DB travels to the Hill.

Not big unless it's for the Arby's. Even the Buck Van Huss Dome in Kingsport doesn't draw many. That place was dead Saturday for DB vs. Jeff County. The only game this year that drew a pretty decent crowd was the Science Hill game and part of that was the fact they let all students in for free to try to fill the student section.

Were you at Viking Hall Friday night @tonybologna? I am in agreement with you, it seems to me that DB has the best team in the district, but Tennessee High came in with a great game plan, stuck with the plan, the student section brought it and Foreman, who is almost money for DB, had one of those nights where he couldn't throw it in the ocean and there you have it. They rebounded nicely against Jeff County on Saturday mercy ruling them by the end of the third quarter. Science Hill beat Tennessee High earlier in the season, so technically, there is a three way tie atop District 1 right now in the loss column with DB, SH and Tennessee High. DB goes to Johnson City Friday night in the marquee district game of the week against the Hill. DB won the earlier matchup in Kingsport with perhaps their best crowd of the season thus far in attendance. Will be interesting to see what kind of crowd shows up Friday night. A sleeper to get the 4 seed in the district could be Crockett. They just recently got two players back and have been playing much better as of late.

Yeah... DB lost to Morristown West by around 30. They beat Jeff County at their place by 16 and then lost to them Saturday by 5. Whitson was the only scorer for DB Saturday. I believe she had 36 of the 49 points for DB. I am not sure what happened to the Johnson girl. She hasn't been on the bench for the last several games. Not sure if she has left the team, got injured, was dismissed or what? But that was a huge loss for DB inside.

The only marquee game in District 1 tonight is D-B at Tennessee High. The Vikings were expected to make a run at the district in preseason, however a loss to Science Hill set them back. A win tonight by the Vikings and there will be a three way tie atop the district in the loss column.

Just noticed I put West Tennessee in the thread... it should be EAST Tennessee... Fixed the thread title...

A similar topic was created on the boys basketball forum, so I thought I would create one on the girls side as well... How does the other districts look in west Tennessee in class AAA? I am not sure of the complete district standings on the girls side, but Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill are the clear cut two best teams in District 1.
