  1. Timing is everything, had Black announced at the end of the year is Jones at Fulton and not Bearden
  2. I'm just a alum who played there a few decades ago (manual was in place prior my arrival). Personally, I have no patience for coaching or parents it is just easier to sit here and talk shop and Monday QB with the real minds. Being married to a teacher myself only solidifies my stance on having no patience for kids everyday. But I do think JJ gets a bad rap here by many who choose to not acknowledge he didn't invent this environment, he just adapted to it. I wish JJ the best but his success or how he does at Bearden has no impact on me.
  3. I got no problem with Todd going there. Just stating that even the best to do it at Central was a transfer who lived in Powell.
  4. Let's not mention that CAK was 2-9 prior to Josh arriving.
  5. Ineligible player is a head coach problem, not a JJ problem. Defense allowed 44+ in 6 of the 8 losses. Spin it how you need to, sure the offense numbers weren’t there. Let’s not confuse that defense with the 85 Bears either. If you’re going back 4 years when JJ is fresh off a state championship. Not much to complain about. Your complaint should be that his offense didn’t score 45+ a game.
  6. Many can say Matt runs the show. I don’t doubt that he has a heavy say in offense and defense. CAK, like mentioned earlier in this post throw JJ in year one under the bus but those defensive number might want to get revisited by anyone talking CAK 2018.
  7. Not questioning the hire for HVA, but Oak Ridge didn’t promote him. If he was a home run hire he’d be at Oak Ridge as the HC. He also doesn’t have a state championship win on his resume, Josh does.
  8. Absolutely. The kid can play and has a chance to put up big numbers as he can sling it around.
  9. There is no issue on this one. Kid lives in Bearden school zone and goes to St. Joes right now. He'll be a nice piece for Josh and the passing game.
  10. Said earlier, that this would be the one I could see coming to Bearden. Moved to the area recently and lives in Bearden, plays like Potts did at that age.
  11. Went to his house many times on West Emory. His home was West Emory with Mom. Jerry might of had a place but his recruiting calls at night were going to his Powell number.
  12. Todd lived off Emory Road between Powell and Karns. Always liked Harrison from HS to Pros. Him and Dennis Rogan used to go at it.
  13. Yep, that's what I said originally. Until is was spun with hypotheticals. Said in my first post, Oakland because they shown to be the only team to beat Maryville. And Maryville because they've been the only team to beat Alcoa. As the hypotheticals kept playing out, just cut Maryville out and go straight to the point. Oakland, Alcoa and everyone else.
  14. Those Beaumont kids used to find their way to Central High School under Joel. Not to mention a QB that lived in Powell that would have went on to play baseball in Colorado. He would now be zoned for Karns in 2021.
  15. What's this you? I stated earlier I'm not affiliated with Alcoa. Just know when people think they can beat them, they don't. I'm a Powell guy, we beat West 35-7. Again, in Tennessee it's Oakland, Alcoa and then everyone else.
  16. Ok. Then Alcoa is at least as good as Oakland. Just being truthful under this scenario.
  17. I'm basing it on this season. They just happen to have the equity of the past seasons. But it seems those in the Mid-State area want to discredit Alcoa by playing the we beat this team we beat that team game so therefore Alcoa would lose. Those games have no merit and playing Oakland close doesn't qualify as anything other than a loss. Right now it's Oakland, Alcoa and then argue for 3rd and beyond based on this year. I'm not discrediting LA and congratulations as Trent disrupted the private school cycle in Nashville. I'm sure, LA had issues scheduling game. Alcoa plays whoever is front of them weak or not and end result is same if that team is not named Maryville. For the record I'm not a Alcoa fan or any affiliation, just someone who acknowledges they are in a class that only Oakland and Maryville can relate to at this moment in time.
  18. All of that plus operates in the gray area too. At least at West he did. Solid hire and things just got ramped up in East Tennessee with the last two hires.
  19. Hypotheticals don't have 7 time defending state champions losing to anyone not named Maryville then. I gave credit to Oakland because they are the only team to show up year after year against Maryville and beat the champ. No doubt those teams are solid, but to have Alcoa take a backseat to anyone and lose a game is non-sense until those teams can do what Alcoa has done. One state title although nice, does not mean you've arrived in the same conversation as those who do it yearly. Give Alcoa, McCallie or LA schedule and you get the same result. Not sure you can say that for LA or McCallie if they had Alcoa's schedule.
  20. Agree with that. If he get's it right they could cause issues, to me Oak Ridge is a sleeping giant in the area.
  21. And you know this how? Because of how other games went? That's not how the game is played. They should lose to Oakland, but for anyone to say they would lose to any other team not named Oakland or Maryville is wishful thinking. Again, like a poster said previously give their AD a call and make it happen. If not, just sit in column of teams that cancel playing them.
  22. Could be the rising 9th grader, he's one to watch too. Very similar to Potts in style of play.
  23. Again to be the man you gotta beat the man. Seems a Alcoa fan said to call the AD and set it up. Nobody has connections Bet Mark Packer would make it happen if LA wants to take a shot on TV and get serious.
