  1. I agree. I kept thinking 27 and 7 would get more reps at LB or DB as the year went on, but for some reason they did not. We have some good linemen coming back. Some will need to add some weight, but they should be good. There are good players coming back at all positions. It’s hard to tell if the younger kids will be the impact player that some of the departing seniors were.
  2. I am surprised that Dante Davis is listed as a departure considering how little they used him. He #7 and #17 rarely saw the field even though they were 3 of the top 6 athletes on the team, The players ‘that lined up better in practice were exposed against Dyer county. I expected it to happen in the coming weeks, but it happened earlier than I thought. These decisions were made 15 weeks ago and no reflection until now. Hopefully there has been a reflection.
  3. I think HC will win Friday, but turnovers and/or big plays could be an issue. Clarksville dropped two touchdowns against us, and Brentwood had a few drops also. If HC makes mistakes and D C plays well it could be a game.
  4. That could be right but the two mentioned above along with some others are new to the program and need the reps. IMO the ones playing in front of them have things down more mentally. If the players don’t get things right in the half speed limited contact practices they don’t get the opportunity in the games. The games is where the athletic difference shows up.
  5. Not sure why they would have #1 on KR if he has a hamstring issue. Also, not sure why #7 and # 27 along with some others stay on the sidelines so much when they are the among the best as far as size, speed and athleticism. Knowing what to do and where to be will decrease busted plays, but it will not make dynamic plays or prevent long runs from the other team when they get in the open field. #8 and #5 are used a lot, but I think the ones mentioned above could provide some dynamic plays on defense and special teams.
  6. I don’t think this years defense is as good as last years at this time. Cofield, Rack, Pierpoint, and Kendley are hard to replace.
  7. Did not make the game, but listening to the radio it sounded like most of the positive plays that were not preceded by big hole by the offensive line were produced by Joe Travis on a limited number of plays. Same with the Haywood county game were the only touchdown was with Travis lined up at QB. It seems like the majority of the time the ball is in the hands of someone other than Travis, they need dominant blocking from the Oline to succeed. I know Foster has an injury, and Travis is counted on for defense, but are there not other options?
  8. I agree with #5 being back. He is the fastest on the team. #1, #8, #27 are close behind. # 7 the transfer from Arkansas is back and got a lot of reps in the MBA scrimmage. He looks the part.
  9. HC got the ball first in the first half, and was able to move the ball and run the clock before the drives stalled with interceptions or punts. One of our interceptions was deep in our territory that lead to a score for them. One was deep in their territory that prevented us from scoring. The HC score was set up by a shanked punt that gave HC the ball on about the MBA 20 with less than a minute to go in the half. 2 pass completions lead to the score. The 2nd half began with the starters out for both sides. HC moved the ball well and got down to the goal line and MBA put some of there more experienced players in causing us to kick a field goal. HC had two other drives that ended with fumbles deep in MBA’s territory. We were able to move the ball with the run and screens in the first half, and the run including QB keeper in the 2nd half. We defended the run well in both half’s but MBA moved the ball through the air in both half’s. They looked really good throwing the ball.
  10. Travis is already the wildcat QB, the top safety, and the 1st/2nd best RB. I don’t think they will move him to WR. I don’t think Davis has the best hands. J Kendall is already at receiver. D. Kendall and C. Townsend would be the most likely to get reps at WR.
  11. Did Orlandis Williamson play in this game?
  12. This year is looking bright for sure. I was impressed with the JV team at the end. Mostly sophomores that won’t get a lot of individual attention, but they play with 100 percent effort and get to the ball with 2 or 3 at a time. From what I heard they started out slow as freshman but really came on at the end of the year. A team described as tough and hard nosed and many 2nd generation patriots. They will need some help at the skill positions from the class ahead and behind them, but will set the tone for future teams with there effort and intensity.
  13. Don't forget Davy Harrod. He dominated the state championship game.
  14. He looks fast on the football field with pads. It is hard to tell how accurate the forty times are that you hear about in high school, but he looks like he could run legit 4.6 or better. Especially if he works at it.
