  1. Coach Lott did not TANK the game. His brother had been very sick with cancer and passed away this week. His funeral was yesterday. Coach Lott wants to win as badly as anyone I have ever met and deserves more respect than you are giving him. Milan is a very young team and did not have a great year. Winning the district tournament was a terrific achievement for this team. I know with their youth they will eventually be a force to be reckoned with. McNairy won the regular season district title, but they did not play well in the district tournament. McNairy has a very young team that has to learn to play tournament style basketball. Tournaments carry a lot more pressure with them than regular season games. Chester County is also very young. With common theme being young here, I would say that your measurement of the region is fair. It is not as strong as it has been traditionally. However, the future for the region looks very good. My sympathy goes out to Coach Lott at this time of sorrow.
  2. Depends on his needs, doesn't it? I guess Coach Landers, Foster, Van Diever, and Balcomb are tired of their jobs. Coach Summitt knows who Rebecca is, she called her several times and tried to persuade her to go Stanford. Once, again my complaint with all of you are you are bashing Rebecca when she has not done anything to any of you. If you know her, watched her play more than a couple of games, and watched her practice, and you still have something to complain about go for it. But I remind you once again, she did not say anything about Westview or Kendall.
  3. You can't measure a kid's heart!!! As for her being tall, that is a tribute to Rebecca, being tall and working hard to be coordinated enough to run the floor and handle the ball as well as she does. I watched Freed and Union play this weekend. They had several 6" 2" plus players on the court. If being tall is the prerequiste, why are they not at UT, Vandy, etc., Because they aren't good enough. Will Rebecca be an All-American at Georgia? Who knows? I do know that Tara Vandiver called my house the night that Rebecca told Stanford she wasn't coming, wanting to know why? They wanted her really bad!!! Saying Rebecca does this and that because she is tall is like saying Cavin, I hate to drag her in because she didn't ask for this either, is only good because because she can shoot. Lay off of Rebecca, she did not ask for the attention, she didn't put a post on here, and you should respect these young athletes.
  4. I coached Rebecca in Jr. High and I am still friends with her family to this day. She is one of the greatest kids I have ever been around, period. I have been coaching for 13 years and I have never meet anyone as mature for their age as she is. She would have shaken Cavin's hand and went on and never said a word if they had announced the finalist with them standing shoulder to shoulder. All of the fuss is by adults on this site. I will defend her ability however. Yes, Rebecca is a great high school player. She dominates the inside. When Westview came to town they could not penetrate the interior because of her presence. Same for Gibson County. Every team in I have seen play Chester County in the second half of the season has double and tripled teamed her. So to say she cannot get 35 in a game would be an insult to her unselfishness. She does not force up a lot of shots and she looks for the open person when the double and triple teams come. As for the McNairy game. Coach Pipkin had the lead and McNairy wanted to sit back and hold the ball and she said fine. I don't know how many shots that CC had total, I do know that MCHS only had 7, according to the Jackson Sun. If I am not mistaken, Rebecca was 1 for 1 from the field and 1 for 1 from the line. Score, what difference does it make if they had won 97 to 94 noone would have said a word. The bottom line is she will be a great player at Georgia if she continues to work hard. Is it because she is 6' 3"? There are a lot of 6' 3" girl's playing ball that do not have her ability. Is Cavin that good? I was very impressed with her at the CCHS game. She is a very good shooter. Make that a great shooter. However, I don't remember who was knocking of the 5' 8", but when I went to Georgia's practice with the Rowsey's, Georgia and Vandy both had several players that were in the 5' 6" to 5' 11" size. Who deserves the award? I don't know, but I do know that Rebecca will be fine without it. If if Cavin wins that is fine to. I am sure that she is a great young lady as well, and I hope that she does well.
  5. Hi Birdie! You should be working not worrying about tonights game! Ha! Good luck!
  6. Number 45 is Bianca Thomas. You are right she is going to be a great one. She scored 381 points in 20 games last year playing the point. She scored 152 points as a 7th grader playing in the forward position. She can do it all, rebound, block shots, run the offense, and score.
  7. Rebecca Rowsey verballed to Georgia last night!!! Congratualtions to both her and Georgia.
