  1. I think a lot of it is the limited pay. I would think that club volleyball pays more. Good luck with finding a coach.
  2. It was a great game. Excited to see how the rest of the playoffs play out.
  3. It doesn't matter once you are in the state championship game. A team with one loss plays a team with zero losses and it's only one game. The undefeated team can have a bad game in that one and lose out on the championship.
  4. They for sure are the team to beat at this time. Nolensville would have had a chance at beating Brentwood last year but I'm thinking it would have been a slim one. I'm not into predicting winners in a sport that has high school kids playing. All it takes is the wrong girl having a down game or two or the other team to have an on game, at the wrong to lose and look horrible doing it.
  5. Brentwood was a good to high level hitter away from going a long way. Eggleston's don't come around very often. I don't think you can say it is coaching because of a loss. with the makeup of the team BC would have lost as well is my guess.
  6. Joe Spears has the hit of the night by Knox on his twitter. Opening line is "Smash!" That was when I said to my daughter "oh, she's a different kind of beast."
  7. Nolensville just doesn't seem to have a weak link they are above average to high skill at every position . Knox is the girl that very few teams will have an answer for, you have to see her vertical and power in person to really appreciate how good she really is. When the light comes on fully it won't be fun for any other team. I wish I could be at the Ravenwood/Nolensville game tonight but we have a prior commitment.
  8. We thought the exact same thing. Brentwood was a upper level outside hitter away from being very, very good. She doesn't have to be dominant. Nolensville played a great game and should match up well with any team that they play here on out. I was really impressed with Knox, the right side hitter on their team. She had a couple of hits that were high level college type of hits.
  9. Daughter and I are about to leave to head down. We are excited to see a high level volleyball game.
  10. I think a better option would be to use take the top 3 or 4 from district, then create a "travel ball like format" where you play a tournament over a weekend and seed from all over the state using a unapproved website ranking (not saying it's perfect but it's better than the current format for rankings) and seed 1 vs lowest seed (whatever the number comes out to). The top 16 from the tournaments go to state. You will see some districts dominate but a true state champion will be determined. There should also be more than 3 divisions. The top 3A school is almost double the lowest 3A school in size.
  11. Am I correct in thinking that either Nolensville or Brentwood will not make it out of district play then? If so, that is shocking.
  12. I've seen teams at state that wouldn't finish top 4 in many districts in middle TN. It really is a shame. I think there should be more movement once regions hit and especially during the substate rounds. There are teams sitting at home that could contend for a state title but just happen to run into a big time team. It really is sad for those girls
  13. I will say Portland has a couple of girls that should be mentioned as well. JPII also has a couple that could be considered for the list as well.
  14. My intention of "good" is to illuminate high school volleyball. I agree there are many other girls that should be on the list over some that are on the list presented. I did not write the article but emailed the writer to ask about his list and was told that he reached out to coaches and only around 30% responded. So take it for what it's worth.
  15. https://www.mainstreetpreps.com/county/davidson/volleyball-25-high-school-players-from-the-nashville-area-to-watch-in-2021/article_e682ce3c-fed6-11eb-817d-fbfeed890a87.html Good article on the 25 players to watch in the mid-state.
  16. With the culture of winning set at Brentwood. They will remain relevant and really, really good for years to come.
  17. Did Nolensville play? How did they look if they did?
  18. Nolensville losing Starcke at libero is going to be a big blow but Coach Brett Young is a really good coach that will keep them in it. The young outside hitter will have another year of growth as well. She may be the player of the year. Blanking on her name at this time, she was a sophomore last year.
  19. Should be a game. I think Anderson has a very slim chance but there is a chance. It would definitely take good player or two having an off game for Nolensville but you've got to play the game.
  20. I have seen no one try to diminish anything that she has done. You came in all gung ho Having just watched the Anderson County game you (Bratman) are either just trying to drum up hostilities on the team or something else. Fulton was a good player but wasn't a standout in my view. The thing about Nolensville is there really are no weak spots on the team. They have 4-5 hitters that can get hot and take over a game pretty quickly. Their libero is always around the ball and the setters can put in in a position for the hitters to go through the proper motions to get a good hit. Their back row defense is always good. I thought their middle, Ladd, stood out in that AC game. Their coach is top notch, after Barbara Campbell at Brentwood, he's in the conversation with some of the best coaches in the state. If Nolensville wins it will be earned as a team. If they lose it will be because another team got hot and beat them.
  21. Bratman, you seem like you'd be a joy at parties. Having seen Nolensville up close, Fulton is good but not a runaway as the best player on the team. Starke, Young and Rickert would all be in the conversation. Also, one player can rarely take over a game to win a championship. It is fully a team effort. Your fascination with this one player worries me if you aren't a part of the family, TBH.
  22. Agree, it will be tough sledding for Portland, they lost a lot from last year. Camden and Creek Wood are both really good so it will be tough. Nolensville may possibly be the best team that Tennessee volleyball has seen in 2A, ever. They are loaded. Plus, they play great competition week in and week out. Should be an interesting next month or so.
  23. Don’t know but I’d for sure say the best players I saw this weekend are No order: Eggleston OH from Brentwood Starke libero from Nolensville Pippen MH from Portland 23 from Summertown i didn’t see any of the private school games
  24. Pippen never left with injury. She was subbed out for a back row player and Portland could never get back around to her being front row. There were multiple hits that Portland had that would have been kills Against any other player but the libero got them up. She saved them and was the true MVP. If the coach gets to choose, it’s shameful that he’d do that with the effort she gave and the championship she gave her team. Agreed about pippen being the MVP she had to have been in the low to mid 20’s in kills.
  25. Congrats to Nolensville. They had a great game plan and neutralized Portland’s offense minus the big middle hitter Pippen. I was shocked that the libero, I think Starke, didn’t get the MVP award. Portland has hits that against any other girl would have been kills. I’m not sure who chooses the MVP award but she was robbed. All of Nolensville’s hitters are similar and good but she is special. so whoever gives out the awards open your eyes. I honestly thought that she was the best player on the court that I saw.
