I GUARANTEE you get an answer like we are preparing for this week with a stupid look like why you ask a stupid question or of something like we are playing this week then if next week we will work on that team. If South thinks they can just run over West because of a record then I'm sorry they are sadly mistaken and same with Greeneville I'm sure the coaching staff of both teams are not stupid! It looks to me as if everyone is picking their team,not uncommon, even more so when volunteer is coming off two big wins and then Greeneville coming of a beating to Sullivan East. The falcons from watching them play only a few times, a couple early in the season and then this past week at Tennessee High have came a long way the D is playing VERY strong and the O line is blocking their butts off giving Keith all the time in to world and then giving running lanes for who it might be at the time at running back. If volunteer can play with the passion they did at Tennessee High and minus the few mistakes they had with the snaps then they will put them selfs in a great position to win the game and make it past the devils to meet the winner of Rebels and the Trojans with that said let worry about the Devils first. There is no over looking the devils it is already shown that they are a very good football team but its also hard to beat a football team twice.. So i think if you liked the game during the regular season you might want to make the long crazy trip from Church Hill or Hawkins County to Greeneville to watch what is shaping up to be another shoot out till the last play of the game! Being a past falcon and a falcon faithful I'm calling my falcons at the end no prediction but it will be close. Here we go again.... same crap that was said last year and I thought I told you all last year but I guess you all can't remember... Coach Whitt never ever once told me nor any of the players on that team to kill someone as you basically state! I would love to know who your source is on all your information you are using cause you need to tell them they are wrong and if its just you watching the games well I do know that I was told to play hard every second of the game I was in and I and everyone on the team did so. Everyone states DB SH has all this talent but yet they play volunteer and dirty play comes out well there is a difference in competing and not backing down its alot different then playing dirty. The other teams int the conference just think oh volunteer lets take their lunch money and run well thats were we came in and said NO bottom line it wasn't going to happen we were going to play the whole game 100% and leave nothing on the court and when the final horn blow shake hands go back to the locker room and get ready for the next team the next day. But it seem when we don't just hand out lunch money and say here DB HERE SH HERE everyone else in the big 9 win we stink... were volunteer someone gets on here all mad and crying say oh volunteer is too tough well guess what we are sorry we didn't know we was playing patty cake instead of basketball i mean seriously come on people. HEART! and TEAM! thats what the falcon family learns and when you play with both you will have a chance to win so thats just what we did and they will continue to do. You don't just win 20 or more games 5 out of the last 7 season by giving everything to everyone and be "the easy team in the conference". We may not be the best team but we sure will go out and give it our best in trying to become to top team. So everyone that is on here crying about oh volunteer is tough and plays dirty bla bla bla SHUT UP cause until you are coached by coach Whitt or even sit in on a practice you haven't the slightest idea of how he coaches! Give it up and just play or if your not playing like me anymore support your team and say what you think but don't go stating "facts" that are untrue! You are looking at the same players on the team from last year with another year of hard work and experience. Positions that have new but still experienced starters at (RG, RT, DE,OLB) RG last year was Mitchell Fleming, RT was Austin Fender, DE Jacob Wells, OLB was me. This years falcons are all Sr basically and with QB four year starter leading the O and a three year starter leading the D its hard to not say that they have a great chance. It can't be said this year they don't know what playoffs are like because i think everyone on the field minus the WR that has played awesome for them this year played in last years game again Tenn High in round one. The Falcons maybe the same team from last year but i don't feel that it will be the same game as last year Tenn high has a great team and i feel the falcons will hold there own and i can bet you this if they are in it come crunch time as shown at Cherokee you might want to watch out..! Good luck to both teams i will more then likely be making the short trip from Emory, VA to watch the what you could call "rematch of last year". This whole new meaning to go big or go home not only is it cross county rivalry its also for the play-off and oh man was it a sweet win last year 22-0. Don't think they don't remember that nor should the sr this year at volunteer cause all of them playing now played in it last year i hope its like it was last year. Whats everyone else's thoughts going into this game whats the out come its going to be a tough one for both teams even more if Barlow is back for sure. Cherokee is coming on in the closing weeks and is looking like us last year and volunteer seems to be the Cherokee of last year is a since but i think volunteer comes out smackes them in the mouth and brings the trophy back home on the bus. I never said they are not worried about this week. Volunteer can't just over look west cause that would be stupid seeing as how they have never beat west ever in school history. What i was saying with just one break along the way its possible but really what would be great just a first game in the playoffs at home and have a great possibility to win volunteer first playoff game ever but playoffs are still three weeks away so nothing to worry about now let worry about west this week then cherokee next its one game at a time.

For volunteer to win the total conference title they would have to beat west and cherokee and greeneville would also need to lose both of their game Davy Crockett and also Mo East. If Volunteer were to win this week and greeneville lose then the next week they both win the the next week they would be co-champs regardless of greeneville beating volunteer now greenville would still be the first seed in the conference because they resort to the game for tie breaker in that situation for play-offs but they would be co-champs that would be HUGH for volunteer so as i see it volunteer don't only have senior night to look forward to they still can see atleast co-champs in grabbing distance one small fall by greeneville and a good game by volunteer friday it is very well reachable! The whole coaching situation at Greenville is a definite non factor in this weeks game. Coach Rider WILL have the boys ready and thats for sure! As I say that I don't doubt one bit that West will be ready it will come down to something small that turns out to be big (blocked punt, KOR, missed extra point,or a crucial turnover). These seniors at volunteer are now doing what was expecting of them at the beginning of the season but I'm not going to say they are going to beat West nor am I going to say they will lose to West. Senior night will be a big night for them and off subject it going to be long with them having the most seniors probably ever on the squad. I don't think anyone should make a prediction cause as I said a second ago its going to be a big game to close to call I would love to see Volunteer beat West for the first time in school history and not only that but be on a role going into Cherokee (my favorite game of the year) keep the trophy for one more year and put up another goose egg like we did last year. With that still being a week away worry about West but if you are a West player, coach, or even a fan don't over look the falcons. For the Falcon players coaches, and fan give the Trojans all they want and some and I see myself sitting in the stands at Volunteers first playoff game at home ever! My Question to you is how you know coach rider is worse... i played under both and i feel the both have their own ups but how are you going to tell that he is a better coach then rider. Along with the only winning season he also had many of those same years that were 1-9 2-8 3-5 so its only comes with time. Yes volunteer is SR loaded but that don't mean you win cause you have SR coach rider is coaching them GREAT and they are playing hard and they just have some break downs here and there just as every team does so don't go knocking either unless you know both sides Venable was great in his way of coaching and Rider is doing just a fine job on what he is doing and i expect much success under coach Rider. Now to the game i expect it to be a great game if the DB keep their composure then it will be just fine the DL and LB will do their job like they do week in and week out just no mistakes and RUN THE FOOTBALL and it will open up the receivers then that will lead to scores so like i said expect a good game and i am not going to call a score cause i think it will be that close. For those looking to watch a good Saturday college D3 game with in driving distance come down to Emory and henry is going to be a dandy and its our homecoming wish i were able to play but the better men play on Saturdays and as of now I'm not the better man but if you want to see a good football game Emory and Henry vs Hampden-Sydney GO WASP! You know all this fussing about how bell will kill volunteer and volunteer will win and all that is not going to make one bit of difference come friday night when the lights turn on, the crowd is going crazy for whoever they support, and the players are hitting heads just to find out who is the better team that night. Being a past Falcon i know that Coach Hastings is making the defense go all out everyday in practice and Coach Rider doing the same. Now I would only expect the same out of the Bell County coaches cause according to everyone they are as good as they come so it sounds to me like its going to be a chess match like no other and the players are going to be wore out sore on Saturday and thinking why am i playing but then go right back at it on Monday. Back to my point all this talk is not going to determine what happens on the field so how about everyone shut up and talk come Friday night after the game or Saturday morning or even next week... when you got a reason to talk crap. I expect this to be a all out battle till the final horn and would love to go watch but have to travel myself a five hour road trip with Emory for our game Saturday. Good luck to both teams! Well just a little bit on the volunteer's defense that i am proud to say i was apart of last year. Well just do this go to www.tricitiessports.com and go to the volunteer link then look at the past two weeks games and what they have held the opposite team to they are very good defense and i wish i was still apart of it cause it was great fun they hit hard and often. Coach Hastings knows his defense and every way to use it against every offense so i know that the wishbone will be no different to him then if he was up against the I he will have the defense ready and Coach Rider will have the offense ready those two men are not alone of course they have great help to aid them in this process. I don't think that volunteer is going to make this little bit of a drive to bell county and no come out and play hard nose fundamental football just like they are tough each and everyday in practice good luck to both teams. For the boys on the team who like to get on here and see what is being said for the sake of seeing don't get a big head cause you took down #10 in the state. That is just the beginning of what could happen if you keep playing hard each and every play. If i know Coach Rider like i think i do he will say that was good win for us but it is this week now so lets get on the hill and get better today for this week. Its game day its the day where all the practices all the hard work comes together i know you boys are just checking off the hours till kick off. I know how it is at volunteer on game day just as well call off school cause not a dang person is worried about its all about you going to the game and ever player is asked at least once we going to win? Thats is by far one of the dumbest comment you could have put as a part of both teams last year I take that kinda offensive cause one you saying the football team can't tackle and I'm think Jordan (#64 mlb) had like 100 and some tackles Travis (#19 LB) had like 70 or so and both me (Ed #25 last season) and Robbie (#20 olb) had right at 70 tackles so i know thats not the case and that is just linebackers not d-line. Then it comes to the basketball i was one of the big men down in the post and yes we played hard but i don't recall coach EVER telling or teaching us how to tackle so just thought i would through that out there... On a better note Good luck boys I'm going to try to make it down there but with a game this Saturday i don't know what i have going on Friday night so if i don't best of luck to both coaches and players. D play hard bust em in the mouth football like i know coach hastings is teaching everyday in practice. The jump ball situation I did jump up quick cause my elbow was a bit hurt too, and the handshake was no handshake as in good job you hurt him it was good hustle. Now to get on with the subject of Tenn. High VS. D.B. I didn't stay to watch but i did listen on the radio sounded like a good game and congratulations to Tenn. High on the win.
