  1. Gillaim & Smith have to handle the ball most because the rest of them are spot up shooters & can't handle the ball. Both of these guys have to handle the ball & create their own shots.
  2. I have nothing against DC I just thought MJ was a better player than Blake. MJ could do it all & Blake is a spot up shooter but both are good players in their own way. Same goes for CJ he penetrates & dishes. He is not a threat to beat you on the perimeter. If DC hasn't got someone to fill Blake shoes then I don't think he will be as effective. You talk about Gilliam being hurt he's been hurt once during the season & that was because Kail made them do 500 pushups after a game last year & he strained a shoulder tendon. He dislocated his ankle in May but I've heard he back playing & is completely healthy. Like I said both are good but Gilliam can take you off the dribble & shoot the 3 where in my opinion CJ will not hurt you if you go zone & make him shoot the ball.
  3. I think cj & nick gilliam are the best two in the district. CJ's been on better teams is the only reason everyone thinks he the best in the district. Gilliam's been carrying Obion since his freshman year. When CJ had to carry Dyer county they won 3 games. He's a good player but I think Gilliam is as talented as anyone.
  4. I disagree gcpioneer she averaged 10 points a game & no one kid is bigger than the program. If Fussell had left now your talking 20 points a game & even then it's not front page news. It's not like your talking about Kobe leaving the Lakers it's high school. Just hope gibson county enjoys the whole package. We would love to keep Aubrey & ya'll can have her dad. I was told by one of her teammates father that she called his daughter crying because she was leaving, folks this is all about Chuck Reedy & no one else. One more thing & I'm done with this subject, if her sister stays at Hillcrest why would that coach even let her play it's a feeder school to occhs not gibson county.
  5. I hate to see Aubrey leave but her dad could have left 4 years ago. He alone has ran enough good players away from that program that they would have had a gold ball. He talks about his vision of the program who cares, that what's been wrong with Obion Central for the last few years too many parents involved. The Union City Daily Messenger must be hard up for story lines when a student transferring is front page news.
  6. Nick Gilliam Obion Central
  7. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  8. You talk about practice too much I think these kids today are driven too far & not given a break from the game, case in point Nick Gilliam probably wouldn't be hurt right now if a certain game wouldn't have happened. Too much not enough who knows.
  9. That's just typical obion county. You have certain people that run the show down here. You should have seen the girls team 4 years ago probably the best class that's ever been thru that school. Holloway, ledbetter, gilliam, greer, & a couple of others that I can't remember their names & those certain people ran them all off. Purple & gold you probably know those certain people. Coach Greer was a heck of a coach & person. My son played with Thomas in Junior high & coach Greer & myself used to talk about How Thomas & Nick Gilliam would be hard to handle once they reached high school.
  10. He's a good player but way off from being SEC material. West Carrol is in one of the weakest districts in tennesse he should dominate. Let's see what he does against the Unoin City's, Lake County, Humboldt.
  11. I know for the last 4 years 14a has been a lot better than 13aa. I'm not sure dyer county would have won the district with uc, lake county, humboldt in 13aa. So I don't think saying he played single A ball really matters.
  12. I think a lot of time when a kid goes to college his success is determined not only by his talent but being put in the right situation. If MJ is put in the right situation & brought along in the program then he'll be ok. Just look at what Larry Bird did if he stays at Indiana maybe he doesn't become one of the greatest of all time. Talent sometimes is a small part of the equation.
  13. My son played with MJ last summer & I'm telling you he can play with anybody. Ya'll talk about Justin Blake he couldn;t wear MJ's jock strap. He has the talent & poise to play at Tennessee. I think with a year under his belt he will be a better point guard than Lofton.
  14. nick dislocated his ankle in a pick up game & will be out the entire summer. Should have a full recovery
  15. \ if he was a different color he would get more recogination he is averaging more points then anyone in the top 10 and crittendon dont even have a jump shot and you obvisouly dont watch enough basketball or know enough about basketball because nick averages about 17 to 20 pts a game and he is a sophomore.
