  1. Anyone heard anything about the Milan girls job? They filled the boys spot, but I haven't heard anything about the girls. Know of any names that have applied or might be likely to apply?
  2. Humboldt hires Junior Reid as girls head coach. Stephanie Williams coming on as assistant.
  3. I see. Only reason I had heard of the other coach is because I had a nephew that went to school with him. Interested to see who they hire. Seems like it is taking them a while. But I guess that is what happens when you have to try and find two head coaches at once.
  4. I dont know who the other DC assistants were, but it is obviously one of them.
  5. It sounds like Tyler Barber, based on what you've given as clues. Don't know a whole lot about him as a coach, just aware of who he is.
  6. These are things I'd be expecting from any coach that takes this position. Without knowing who it is specifically, I guess we'll have to take your word for it.
  7. That means Dyer Co., Hardin Co. or Henry Co. Someone a few weeks back on this thread mentioned a Dyer Co. assistant having interest in it, but didn't say who specifically it was. Are you saying this person is interested, front runner, or has been offered?
  8. Always a surprise when a school doesn't hire someone with a track record of success with a group of kids.
  9. Yeah, not necessarily the best records. Hard to know those situations, but leaves a bit to be desired. Hopefully he'll do well. Just always wonder who they said no to.
  10. Hard to really tell. Coached at UTM for a few years but didn't have a good record there. Has bounced around a few high schools since. Not sure who all applied, so that always makes it tough to tell too.
  11. Updated-- 1. USJ- Lots of resources and being a private school you can have talent move to the school if you get the right coach. Lots of tough competition though. 2. West Carroll- Short term, lots of potential for success. Can someone maintain it long term? 3. Milan- Lots of good athletes to pick from. Have to get past being a football school to be successful. 4. South Gibson- Ability to build on success from last few years. Going to be tough to compete in AAA, especially if talent dips at all. 5. JCM- How many schools in JMCSS can be good at one time? South Side and Madison have been really good lately. Is there enough talent for JCM to be good. What classification do they end up in? 6. North Side- See concerns with JCM, plus questions on support from fan base and administration. 7. Greenfield- Small pool to pick from. Do the Darbys have any sons?
  12. I'm sure this will be the case moving forward. Coaching carousel is just beginning.
  13. No clue. Has seemed quiet. Would have to think they'd hire someone soon. Position has been open a while.
  14. https://www.lexingtonprogress.com/2021/04/13/fitch-accepts-lhs-tigers-basketball-head-coaching-position/ West Carroll position opening up as their coach takes the Lexington job.

Is there enough talent for JCM to be good. What classification do they end up in? 5. Lexington- Not sure how much better they can be then what they've been the last few years. Sounds like politics might be a problem too. 6. North Side- See concerns with JCM, plus questions on support from fan base and administration. Don't think there is a lot that separates these jobs. Good coach could make any of these successful. Bad coach could make them a trainwreck. I don't see a home run position in the bunch.
  16. Depends on what you define as making it a good job. I think they all have their own very clear downsides. None is a bad job though.
  17. For sure, but the same case could be made for a lot of other places too. You get a coach like that at Milan or Humboldt or one of these other local openings, and I think you'd see the programs thrive too. There are very few jobs that are set up for total failure. Some are just easier projects then others.
  18. Agreed for the most part. Keep in mind the more kids that move in, the larger class they have to play in. Harder to be successful in AAA. Lots of other schools in that class that are loaded with raw talent.
  19. Potentially. She's a great coach, so it'd be a good hire. If she was looking to make a move it'd be a logical choice.
  20. Seems like nobody has been in a hurry to make any hires anywhere. Lot of jobs sitting open without any word coming out. I'm sure there will be a flood of hires/announcements in the next few weeks.
  21. Moore was 9th or 10th (wo)man for IU, but that's not bad as a Freshman. Played in almost every game. Certainly not a scrub just riding the pine at a big school. Unless she's itching to be the top dog somewhere, I don't see any reason to transfer. Given another year or two, she should be able to make a significant impact.
  22. Haven't heard anything about why, other than some people being unhappy about it. You never know with these type of things: could be something off the court or could just be something political. Nowadays you can never tell. Definitely hadn't performed poorly during his time there, but you never know what standard they were holding him to either.
  23. The further you want to go back, the harder this conversation becomes. I've been watching basketball in the state since the early 90s, and can think of a long list of coaches I'd put in the conversation. Fun topic to debate, but so tough to narrow it to 5.
  24. Have had the pleasure of meeting Coach White a few times, years ago. Stand up guy and great coach! Couldn't be happier they've had this success.
