  1. RebelBoy121: I am not going to post step by step directions Also RebelBoy121: Posts step by step directions bahahaha! I think people know where the brackets are at now, they were objecting to the lack of notice. I don't honestly think it matters either way. I don't distrust the TSSAA as much as everyone else seems to. Not sure what they have to gain by stacking the deck.
  2. I'll go with: Tellico Plains Oneida Clarkrange Huntland Loretto Summertown Gibson Co. Peabody
  3. Bad when there isn't enough trust with the TSSAA that people feel like they have to witness it to believe it is done fairly...
  4. Sadly, there aren't a lot of "good crews" to go around. At this point, you go into games assuming the officiating is going to be questionable at best and do what you can. That being said, there are a lot of fans that are quick to call "bad officiating", just because calls weren't in their favor. Very few fans can watch the game without rose colored glasses. I'm not saying any of the mentioned fan bases are in this thread, but most of the time (especially on CoachT) fans are quick to point the finger and not the thumb.
  5. Yes, my point is that I like that we at least have that rule in place. In a bracket that was based on "rankings" you wouldn't have that.
  6. Wow! I stand corrected. Kudos to the TSSAA! And no. They won't and shouldn't advance Dyer Co. They lost on the floor before anything happened.
  7. I always caution people about basing things on "rankings". AP Poll in TN is a joke. Most of the writers who vote don't follow anything outside of their specific area and then base their non-local votes on historical knowledge of programs or what the hype is around a team. We've seen team in football in the Top 10 during Week 5 with a losing record. Heck, a few years ago, a team cracked the top 10 in a classification they weren't in anymore. In an ideal world, you'd seed the teams. But, the idea is that everyone gets in by winning Sectionals (Substate) and is even for that reason. We all know that isn't the case, but it's no less fair then the set up in other TSSAA championships. I do like they've got teams separated by area. I don't want to see teams from the same region play each other until the title.
  8. Can confirm that the officials at the GC/Peabody game last night were local. One is a newer guy, but have seen him a couple times this year. Another one has been around a long time and is normally not very good. Another has been around quite a while too, and is normally one of the better ones. I watched the last quarter and overtime online, and it's hard on the stream to tell if calls are good or bad. I do know there were a lot of calls down the stretch and it really slowed down the game.
  9. McCord did say things to his team about their coach and that's how the information got passed down the line. That's the information coming out of Newbern, not just Arlington. No one is justifying the assault. McCord didn't deserve what happened to him, but that doesn't mean that he didn't do something that should result in punishment from the school. I think the TSSAA should have stepped in, but they won't. They don't have the resources to investigate on their own, and neither side is going to provide them with the full truth. With this being something that happened off the court, it is going to be hard for them to pursue disciplinary action. Most of that will rest in the hands of the individual schools themselves. And we all know how that will go.
  10. In other words, if you don't have a kid playing, it's gonna be tough to get in.
  11. If you'll go back and re-read my comment. I was referring to the information he gave about him saying stuff about the opposing coach to his players. Not the rest of what he said about previous games. Personally, I don't care what happened in the prior meetings.
  12. I'll go with: Grainger Northview Meigs Macon Stewart Co. Creek Wood Westview South Side
  13. Oh, you are right, I went back and forth and thought I picked East Nashville. Not giving myself enough credit lol
  14. 5 for 8. (Not too good ha!) Went out on a limb with the McMinn upset, but felt like I needed an upset somewhere. Maplewood/East Nashville was a crap shoot for me because they had such a limited sample size. Thought South Side would dictate the tempo and they didn't. Hard to call Westview winning an upset, given their track record, but it wasn't the result I expected.
  15. And coming into the night, that's what Westview needed to do to win. Have a big night from Jada and control the tempo enough to get set up in that zone. South Side needed to let the supporting cast have to beat them and get out in transition. Sounds like Westview went 2 for 2 and South Side went 0 for 2. You can blame officiating or anything else, but going into the night those were the keys I laid out. Whoever could do what they wanted to do would win. Last night, that was Westview.
  16. Part of what @SkyCrush said about the DC player is consistent with what I've heard. @WestTNroundball is right that what happened isn't justifiable, and I don't think many here are arguing that it was. That being said, as a coach, you can't cross certain lines, and it sounds like he said things that were well over the line. There are a few different things that have to be discussed and they are all separate topics that everyone here is lumping together: 1.) The person that attacked McCord is in the wrong, period. They should have to face the law for assaulting someone, which it sounds like they are. The situation didn't justify that response. 2.) If Arlington's coach had knowledge of the planned attack or did anything to incite the attack, she should be punished for those actions. If she had no knowledge of it, and it was a random fan that did it, she shouldn't be held accountable for that. If it was a family member of hers that attacked him but she didn't have any prior knowledge of the plan, then it turns into more of a grey area. If players were involved, even if it was just aiding in the getaway, they should get in some form of trouble. 3.) Dyer Co. has to address the McCord problem. Him getting attacked isn't okay, but his actions are also something that shouldn't be acceptable. This isn't an isolated incident. He has gotten away with a number of things in the past, and it has set up a culture where he feels free to do however he pleases, with no fear of consequences. I'm not sure that culture is redeemable with him at the helm, but that is something for DC's administration to decide. If the things he said come to light, it will be harder and harder for them to sweep this under the rug. As mentioned before, it sounds like there is at least one player/family that might be ready to bring that information to light. I don't think any of these points are arguable. You can focus on one specific one and scream about how the other school is at fault, but it doesn't change that there is plenty of blame to go around.
  17. Micah is a stud. Madison gets a lot of attention, and deservedly so, but Micah has the potential to have an even better career, and that's saying a lot. We've seen flashes of it this season, but her ceiling is ridiculous. Personally, I think she's one of the best college prospects in our area.
  18. Watched the 4Q and OT online last night. Looked like Peabody was able to do the things they want to do. Had some really good drives to the basket. When they get going downhill they are hard to stop. If you can keep them in front of you (easier said than done), they struggle. Shot at the end of regulation was a clean look, but I can't imagine it was the look they were trying to get. Was really surprised to not see them get something going to the basket. Especially given how many fouls were getting called, I figured you'd attack the rim and worst case hope for a call. Peabody had way too many ball handling turnovers late (walks and double dribbles). GC did seem tired, especially toward the end. Lot of uncharacteristic mistakes (bad passes, catching near the sideline when other team is trapping, etc.). Really good battle for both teams. Personally, glad to see GC pull it out, but was a really good late season battle.
  19. I was wrong with my prediction. Sounds like it was a good game, would have loved to see it. That being said, these are the type of performances Harrison will have to have to get Westview to the title. She is very good at getting others involved; but at this point in the season when you are the best player on the floor you have to take over. Sounds like she did that tonight. Still think both teams have a great shot to get to the Boro. Covington won't be an easy game for SS, but is one they can win. Westview shouldn't have any issues getting past Fayette Ware, extending their tournament streak.
  20. As I’ve said throughout this thread, there is no comments that could have been made to justify getting attacked. My comments on “controlling the narrative” mean that they are putting out the information that makes them look the best. Dyer Co did the same thing in the State Gazette. Neither is mentioning the things that make themselves look bad. Truth may not make it out to the general public; but if it does, I think you’ll see disciplinary action on both sides.
  21. I have heard the comments made about the Arlington coach weren’t made in the parking lot but were comments he made to other people about her, that got back around to her. Arlington is trying to control the narrative with what they told the CA, but DC coaches aren’t blameless in this either.
  22. This isn't to say that McCord is a saint either. By most accounts he isn't the greatest guy to have to deal with (that's as judiciously as I can say that), but that still doesn't justify what happened. Arlington has come out to the Commercial Appeal and said that he was "directing insults at the AHS coach in the parking lot" after the game, which resulted in the incident. That doesn't necessarily align completely with what I've heard, but it does seem like it was definitely instigated by actions of the DC coaching staff. Again, doesn't justify what happened, but they aren't squeaky clean in this either. Not sure if DC will make a statement or get their side of the story out there. I don't think either coaching staff is out of the woods when it comes to facing disciplinary action.
  23. That's the claim this lady made during their regular season matchup. Things evidently weren't friendly between the two teams during that meeting either. It's quite the accusation to levy. Most coaches look over the book at halftime before heading to locker room. Would be very ballsy to tamper with it, or tell your scorekeeper to. Not that it couldn't happen, but would be a very dumb stunt to pull. However, even if he got on the scoreboard at halftime and added 100 points to their score, it wouldn't justify assaulting him. It is a red herring to try and justify something that isn't justifiable. I don't think anyone would suggest Arlington's coach should be punished if it turns out that it was a rogue fan that did this. But, if the story that is being told currently is true, it would be hard to avoid some form of punishment.
