  1. I do think the QB injury was a turning point in the game. Lexington was on the Haywood 45 yard line and moving the ball. Who knows if ultimately they would have scored or not. Haywood won the game and they are moving on. After watching a full season of high school football I am thankful the seniors in west Tennessee got to play at least some of their games if not all of them. As a Lexington fan we won 12 games and got to play a full season and back in August I had my doubts if any football would be played. Good luck to Haywood if they can control the discipline issues and get those athletes in space they can give Betsy a game.
  2. Lexington is used to being the underdog - I think they will feed off of that mentality. Haywood may have a line equal in stature but size does not always equvolate to strength. Lexington's line is very strong physically. Haywood may very well win the game and may do so convincingly but lexington is used to being the underdog as they were in both Hardin County games. You never know what may happen in a game to determine the outcome but those on here saying the semifinals are a different game are wrong about the pressure getting to the Lexington team. These boys have been in pressure situatuions in sports for years. As a fan of Lexington I like the undog role - either way I am expecting a competetive game between two good teams..

  5. Looks from both angles that two Lexington defenders and the Hardin county receiver were going for the ball and the Hardin county player tripped or got his legs tangled up. No way you throw a flag on that play for interference.
  6. The problem lies with the TSSAA. Some venus may only be able to hold only 1,000 spectators. Others like Hardin County and Lexington are capable of holding much more. The TSSAA has a real problem with high school sports and how they control decisions which should be made at the school level. If anyone has watched high school football this year the officiating continues to be just awful. This needs to be addressed by the TSSAA and ensure they are putting capable (and I am stressing capable) officials on the field. Every parent should have an opportunity to see their child play and it should not have to be a race to obtain a ticket. I think most families knew as the playoffs approached this was going to be an issue and were concerned about being able to see their children participate. To bad the TSSAA leadership did not take the time to come up with a better strategy to allow all parents (and then) spectators to have this opportunity..
  7. Having seen both teams play at Lexington I would favor Milan due to their line play. Milan has one of the fastest defenses I have seen from just sheer speed standpoint. If Milan can prevent blown coverages in the secondary and run the ball controlling the clock they should be ok. HC will have to stop the run. In the end both teams have really good athletes but Milan’s big uglies may be the difference.
  8. Lexington was able to get some pressure without committing linebackers to the rush. That allowed 7 and 8 men in coverage. I even noticed some wrinkles where d-lineman dropped to the short middle in coverage. I was surprised at how well the Lexington lines on both sides faired versus HC. Milan’s line play was considerably better than HC in my opinion. Pope is a good player you could see his ability but Lexington defensive backfield played extremely well last night and answered the challenge. Lexington has not faced a team this year with a balanced offensive attack so the pass defense against a spread attack was somewhat unknown. They did a great job of handling multiple formations and coverage assignments. Much credit to the players, as the previous poster stated, played their butts off and to the coaches who executed a solid game plan. I was very impressed with how well Lexington was prepared.
  9. Last years game was close. Milan's QB in the open filed was probably the difference in the game. He hurt Lexington with his ability outside of the pocket. That combined with Lexington kicking the ball to him and not be able to contain him was the difference in my opinion. Both teams appear to be better than last year and may come down to who has the fewest penalties and turnovers.
