Both squads picked up six regular season wins last season so this early matchup is a tough one to call. The Scarlet Kittens will scratch and claw their way through a tight contest, but the Blue Looters will steal this one with a score late. When I played in the 90s, this was THE game. They were in our region back then, and we would duke it out for the top spot. Wayne County is really down this year so if all players are available and the CoVid will stay at bay, I believe the Raiders win easily. Good luck MC!

I value everyone's opinion and would never say anyone's wrong but I always thought there was a significant difference between 3A and the tiers below. I still believe there's a difference between most 2A and 1A schools but I've been retired from coaching for many moons now. I may just be out of the loop. On another note it's looking like I'm not going to be able to attend Friday's game so I'm going to try to tune in on the radio. Hope some of you guys will post live scores here too if you don't mind. This is the very reasoning that every team dreaded playing Moore County back when Lincoln County used to host their jamboree. They would invite 7 teams and each play a half of football. MC was always the only 1A school invited (they'd bring ticket money) and would be matched up with a bigger school. I know once they faced a 3A and the next year a 4A. Yes it was just a jamboree and yes it was a scrimmage like preseason deal, but it always looked bad when the bigger school would barely hang with MC or even get mashed by their starters. Scheduling can truly put a team in a no win situation. ***On the other hand, us fans love it. We like seeing David and Goliath so I see it from this point of view as well.

I don't really know why Chapel Hill risks playing this game anymore. It's a no win situation. If you beat MC you were supposed to. You are the bigger school. If you lose to MC it's just embarrassing. You were upset by a 1A. I understand the rivalry because I was a part of it but it's not the same situation it once was.
