Product on the field was bad. Talent was bad. Fans were bad. Weather was bad. Covid was bad. Blah blah blah. I don’t have a kid at Smith County. I don’t coach at Smith County. I’m just telling you the problem is bigger than Murray and everyone that’s trying to put it all on him is part of the problem. Was Murray the guy, obviously not, but my issue is bigger than that. The problems at SC are bigger than that. We can all stick our heads in the sand and pretend it’s not, then my only question is who’s going to start this thread back up in 2-3 years, blaming whoever Barry decides to hire. Surely you’re smart enough to see through the smoke screen.

So we are now down to keep it close? Coach to not lose “as badly” so you can keep your job or coach to win and if you lose by a couple more than people thought you should, you’re gone. Got it. Don’t take chances. Run the clock. Keep your losses close. #ALossisaLoss #Playtowin

Might just need to relax on up to Hartsville, where at least when the Director gets involved he knows what he’s talking about. As far as Murray goes, I think they’re better than what he inherited. I just don’t think two years is enough to make a determination on whether the changes he was making were going to be effective. As far as what they did this year, did you see the disparity in talent? #betterhiretherightOC

So we are to assume that Barry let’s the parents run the program. Have we even questioned why someone wants to leave? Perhaps little Johnny isn’t getting the playing time daddy thinks he should? Perhaps daddy was told he didn’t get to make decisions pertaining to the football program? I’m not a parent, but man it’s pretty easy to see where the problem lies. Looks like Murray wasn’t the guy they wanted to start with, but didn’t have a lot to choose from. Maybe Dyer can navigate the political conundrum better than Murray and get more than two years? Maybe Barry can get back to focusing on running a school system and let someone else worry about the Athletics? The fact that people continue to defend this fiasco is puzzling. #MSCGA

Everyone is hinting and beating around the bush. Players leaving or threatening to leave (with parents who are apparently “connected”). Uniforms. Different identity than what everyone thinks it should be and his personality rubbed them the wrong way. Announcements. I would assume all of it rolled up together into a nice big turd ball made Barry mad or put him in a position that he had to make a change. Don’t be naive and think this decision came from anywhere but the very top.

Something is “amiss”? I done told y’all Murray made someone mad. Apparently more people than me see that something is “amiss”. Just wish we could all just be told what happened to have a shortened leash and who’s really pulling the puppet strings.

Looks like Dyer. He’s a good coach, so I’m in no way knocking the hire. My issue is the entire program is in shambles with Barry and his cronies trying to play AD. Murray got fired because he made someone mad, not because of win/loss; but everyone wants to sweep that under the rug. There’s an 800 pound gorilla in the corner that everyone is ignoring.

I seem to think the people steering the ship are morons, all the way to the top! AND apparently there are a lot of others on here that agree.

I heard 3 of those that interviewed have said “no thank you”. That’s pretty negative itself. There’s something going on around here that is a bigger issue than the W/L record.

Is anyone really interested with the way things are in SC? I heard a few applicants pulled their names... this could get bad.

Having seen both (HC a couple times), I would probably give a very slight edge to HC overall and as a team. However, Summit’s QB and WR will be the best two players on the field and I don’t think HC has an answer. That said, I’m going with Summit in a close one.

What game is everyone going to tonight to see what it takes to be a big time program again? Watertown vs Trousdale County should give us something to strive for.

I can get behind most of this, but we have some deeper problems around here than just our coach. Something you said was with a few years... Apparently the way things are currently, you’re not guaranteed a few years if you make the wrong people mad. I’m not sure the type of coach we need is going to be interested knowing how this all went down. As far as the right leadership, who do you have in mind?

Can we get back to our coaching dilemma and the fact that it appears no one had a plan in firing Murray? I initially thought the replacement was already in play and that’s why they pulled the trigger so quickly, but the longer this goes on the more it seems that may not be the case. Or is it the replacement is in play, but their current team is still playing?
