    state tournament

Single Elimination after a tough region championship is not good in my eyes. I definently like the limbaugh plan. For example, after an evenly matched Hixson/Walker Valley game, one team must come out a loser and face David Lipscomb in Nashville in a must-win game. The tournament ensures that the team with the most pitching depth advances, which is what is necessary in the state tourney to win
  2. Not to say that he is THE best, But James "Turtle" Dickson from CSAS is a very good lefty. He was the teams top relief pitcher and he played left and center field with minimal errors. He also batted .565 leading the Chattanooga area unofficially because of his lack of atbats. I know CSAS doesnt play as difficult of a schedule as some teams, but next year in A he will be a monster sophomore along with Matthew Jones, a rising Junior pitcher who is underrated and not talked about.
  3. I dont care about rankings or records, in my opinion Hixson plays a tougher schedule year in and year out than Walker Valley, and I pick Hixson to win this game in a close one. Im not downgrading WV, but I think the rankings are not accurate and I think Hixson is a better team this year than last. Hixson 8 Walker Valley 6
  4. I will give the edge to mcminn, of course i gave the edge to the owls too. I still think mcminn is a better team

    POY!

Ok then grad, should we start a poll???? Ervin or Brown it is. My pick based on team worth is ervin. ONLY because defense as solid as his is SO hard to find in high school. I will predict Brown for next year, if that's not jumping the gun.

    POY!

Sorry guys, I dont know about these things......... Ervin has been good, especially when he has made a few clutch pitching appearences
  7. Why doesnt ramsey play every game? if the legs get tired, i would stick him in left field for a break, because the bat is definently worth keeping in the lineup.
  8. Hixson does make errors sometimes, just like everyother HS team, but not against a team like McMinn Central. I think a game of errors would be much more likely against a hitting team like walker valley on Wednesday, but I still give the nod to Hixson if the pitching and defense are satisfactory
  9. Who's pitching on Wednesday??? I assume Green for Hixson and as for WV, I need some help
  10. They are done for the year right???
  11. It will all be resolved in the post season and nokona, who was your mystery POY?
  12. Anyone know where Sitz and Fultz from Grundy county are going?? Are they going to the same place as Woodlee??

    POY!

POY will be decided in the following week(s). As far as I can see, how far a candidate's team makes it will be a HUGE factor in who gets it, which could put Micheal Brown at a slight disadvantage as Baylor plays McCallie first, which is a tough game, all records aside. Of course, no one has it easy at this point. However, I expect Ooltewah to produce a strong candidate because I think they will go far this post season and to do that someone will have to step up in a clutch situation or three and propel them.
  14. Is that not who you have been hinting at for POY????
  15. Both are true and Im surprised that his name is just now being mentioned, but Im not sure that the TFP will see him as POY nokona.
  16. Mcminn Central has done well to make it this far, I give Hixson the nod there. A good game defensivley for Marion would give them a great chance to upset Walker Valley...... But I still pick the Mustangs....sorry no upsets here
  17. I know its part of the game, but you could at least back it up with some skill..... Im just saying that the talking should only occur if it helps the talker, and in this guys case, I think he would have been better off just playing,
  18. I agree with you on the first part, but he is quite funny, you have to admit. We could all use some comic relief on this topic any way
  19. OOOOOOOO, my fault Jason. I assumed him to be the tall shortstop because that guy acted like he was the best with his big mouth and all, at least until someone jacked one of his pitches off the trailers in centerfield...... good season then Henderson
  20. This whole situation does smell fishy......but I do have a hard time second-guessing a guy like bumper reese. He knows what he is doing and he may think that his team is better off with the older players resting for a tough upcoming region opener. This could compare to Hixson and Marion tossing their aces in the district title game.....we will see which of the two strategies worked better some time next week I guess.....
  21. It is no coincidence that the Private schools are better every year in a large majority of sports than public schools. They can offer better facilities, coach's, education, and opportunities in some cases. I think that the mulitplier will help, but some private schools who were A will now struggle with the better competition of AA and AAA. This just spreads out the good teams in each area through out all classifications. It may just end up hurting the level of district tournament play. I think a re-evaluation will be in order at this time next year.
  22. Is he the tall, shortstop/pitcher, because that guy was a punk. He talked too much and didn't play enough in my opinion
  23. I completely agree.....the average high school kid does not understand the game of baseball and with it being a thinking man's game, they dont want to take the time to try and learn more so that they can appreciate it. For the most part, high school athletic events are mostly social events, at least that is how it is at my school, and football and basketball are easier to watch for kids who just want to scream and be entertained. I am sure that if you asked those kids who play all three sports, they would say that baseball has the most skill involved.
  24. There isn't too much in A, but what about this Nathan Long kid? Are his homerun numbers inflated from CCS's short porch or is he really hitting them that far??
  25. would Turner be on the all area team or all city?
