  1. I agree with 5 classes. To me the last time that 2A had 2 very good competitive teams was Meigs & Trousdale (maybe '19 & '20?). Tyner was dominant in their run. ER was in a class by themselves last year kinda like Marion this year. Westmoreland fields tough teams usually but you never feel they are capable of winning a title at the start of a season.
  2. East 1A & 2A hasn't really been strong in years. Typically have 1 team that is head & shoulders better than everyone else. Larger classes in the east are where it gets stronger.
  3. Warriors competed in a 7v7 in GA to finish up practice before the dead period. Marion is going to be a problem this season. We've never had the athletes like we have this year. Should be a good season.
  4. He will be ready by start of the season. Conditioning may be a little slow but hes a tough kid. He will make an impact by the end of the season.
  5. Hahaha..... we just hope to win more than we lose, but you never know. Appreciate the support!
  6. It wouldn't happen in my day but it's different now. Actually a couple of kids from SP transferred to Marion this year. Marion supports their kids as well as anyone trust me. $75k in custom weight room equipment this summer is just a start of upgrades for the Warriors I am told.
  7. Getting the qb from Central is a big get to me. He is more of a true qb. Last years qb will be out in space now and that's not a good thing for opponents of the Pirates. Adding the LB from Marion will help too. SP loses kids too other programs sometimes as well. I don't have a problem with a kid transferring if it's done legally and there's a better opportunity for the kid. Marion has benefited at times as well. It's not hard to draw attention when you're winning. Kids want to win and be a part of a shot at a title. These communities support the programs and it shows.
  8. Pirates had enough coming back to win it all. What they've added has made them a lock. If they don't win it all every coach should be fired.
  9. Good luck to you guys too. Hopefully we can win a few and meet up again.
  10. Had one that was on the special teams last year and played LB on 2nd string that left. Good kid that would have seen more time this year. Had a couple from down the road to come back home so it's a wash. I believe both teams are happy with the "trade"
  11. Marion lost a ton of starters. As of right now I don't see a Mays type of player on the DL. Mays also helped free up a very good LB group that graduated. Pickett stepped it up his senior year. We have a few new kids that will make this years offense more difficult to defend than last year. Overall team speed has probably been doubled over last years team. Warriors will field arguably the most athletic team they have ever had this season.
  12. I don't agree with how the TSSAA split the schools. But I can remember the days of Marion having to play Alcoa, Maryville, Knox West, Lipscomb Academy, etc... to get to state championships in AA & AAA. Then playing privates for titles. Times sure have changed.
  13. Marion is replacing 17 starters. May be a 5-5 or 6-4 season. Lots of youth on the team.
  14. They had some good looking kids. Just no speed and that's what got them. 2A East is bad just like 1A. Both the Warriors and Pirates should get to the title from this side. That's all you can ask for, is a chance to play for it. A lot of teams have went into title games as favorites and lost. We both know that too well. We would already be behind if we're hitting the portal. That lineman yall got would make 2 of ours lol. The qb from Central was pretty good last year. He should do well in 1A ball. You guys already had enough for a gold ball with what you had. Now you're just mercy ruling everyone on the way there
  15. Warriors end spring practice with a 30-7 win over Pisgah, AL with 8 min quarters. (Over the last 3 years Pisgah has advanced to the semis twice and quarters once.) Lots of pieces to the puzzle still to be added this summer but all in all the Warriors look pretty good to only be returning a handful of starters.
  16. East Nashville is in the West. They are probably the favorite. Marion has to replace 17 starters. Work in progress for the Warriors. I have a feeling they will be ok if they stay healthy.
  17. Been waiting on the official announcement. Marion adds Rhea Co S&C coach to the staff. From what I'm being told the 5 year goal for facility upgrades is impressive. Warriors have ordered $75k in custom weight equipment. What's next on the list??? Huge upgrade to facilties in the works
  18. 19. That ball bounces funny sometimes.
  20. Don't know anything about Harriman but CoachT is slow during the off-season so I've been following this thread. I have seen a few on here talk that with the right hire Harriman would be a beast and compete for championships. I look up their record for the past 20 years and they only have a few winning records. Typically 3 to 5 wins a year. What am I missing? Like I said I don't know much about that area so it just strikes me as odd. Have they just had horrible coaching forever?
