  1. Here's a little history between these two programs for anyone who is interested: South Pittsburg and Sequatchie County have met one another a total of 52 times. SP holds the lead in the all-time series, 34-17-1. The one tie: 0-0 in 1968. Sequatchie's best stretch of the series was from 1986-1992, where the Indians won six out of seven matchups, including four in a row in 89, 90, 91, and 92. The series took a break from there until 1997, playing each other every year until 2005. In that time the Pirates won six out of nine matchups. The Pirates have been dominant in the series since 2011, save for a three-game win streak for the Indians in 2014, 15, and 16. SP has won 9 of the last 12, including the last six straight. All-time the Pirates have outscored the Indians by a score of 1309-568. My prediction for Friday night: SP 34-14. Close game, but a late Pirate touchdown puts them up by three scores. I think the only thing that stops SP from heading into Chattanooga unbeaten is them thinking about Chattanooga instead of the team in front of them, and I don't think that happens this week.
  2. Whitwell is going to bring their best game Friday night. They went into the game last year thinking they could pull off the upset, and this year they're 3-0 looking across to a 2-2 South Pitt team and are licking their chops. However, the Pirates just have too much talent across the board. A game that is usually an "easy win" is now a "must win" and the Pirates are going to come in determined, with a solid game plan, and some of the best athletes in 1A football. No chance they let a cross-county team knock them under .500, 42-14 Pirates.
