  1. A lot of moving pieces in DII currently with boys basketball. Who do we think we will get the remaining opening jobs?
  2. You are responding to a post from 2/6, while a hundred others have come in since. I will just agree with you.
  3. Agree with @Booger here, no one has been upset about those boarding schools until the last half-decade. Why would McCallie or Baylor volunteer to play a national schedule @FBfan26 ? You ain't from around these parts or ain't ever visited on a Friday night in the Fall, so hear it from someone who has... those two schools care about one thing when it comes to football. Beating the crosstown rival... and for the past half-decade if you win that game, you're in a spot to win a gold ball. When I meet grown adults in Chattanooga and get to talking, they ask "Where did you go to school?" I always reply UTC for undergrad and Vanderbilt for grad school. The response is always "No, did you go to Baylor or McCallie?" It's different around here, man. This quite literally is life. I imagine they both care zero about playing schools like IMG Academy, Bishop Gorman, etc. What would either gain from that?
  4. Mccallie, Baylor, Webb School, etc. that having boarding programs are not doing what Lipscomb did in this scenario. They operate within the parameters that the TSSAA governing body has set for any institution that wants to have a boarding program. Go look at the Tennessean article that came out recently "bona fide change of residence" new term of the week. The second half of the article is fascinating with the text messages and violations that others on this board have been commenting about. I want to hear more about this from other folks in the know https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/10/30/deuce-knight-lipscomb-academy-postseason-ban-tssaa-football-playoffs-2023/71384369007/
  5. For sure, and I think Oakland could beat any DIIAAA team on the right night. It would be awesome to see one of the big DII schools schedule them during the season.
  6. Agreed, Oakland would go 9-3 in a season in D2AAW east.
  7. Booger, i know you are older than time itself and appreciate what you have done for the decade and a half I’ve been following CoachT. Everyone here is entitled to talk ball and give their opinion, even if that doesn’t sit right with Boog. I like that everyone can have difference of opinion. We disagree on CPA. We agree on Baylor and Mccallie not being an issue until they started winning gold balls. The understudy pays more attention to the state of TN football than most and has for a long time.
  8. Looking at that list, that is about the exact # of kids Baylor has in High School. If you add middle school #s in, it's more like 1080. What do you think TSSAA would decide for the two large boarding institutions? Does anyone ever see that happening?
  9. Split it at 350 then. Create the most even #s possible in both divisions. 24 in one class, 25 in the other. Goodpasture is the biggest in A and FRA is the smallest in AA. Thanks for providing the graphic, I think the most eye-opening stat of all is how Christian Brothers could do so little with so many boys. Good Lord.
  10. A, AA, AAA return?! Go back to 3 champions for the ENTIRE State? I know this will never happen again but think of the quality of football we would see come playoff time. I'm drooling over here.
  11. Booger, you are lost. This is the DII thread. Last I check Oakland isn't in DII. But, if you want to extend them an invite, I'd be happy to see that. In the 2021-22 season where Oakland went 15-0, they played LA and CPA and they squeaked by with a win in both contests. Impressive considering those two played for the AA ball that year. Let them play the AAA East region gauntlet of a schedule just sayin
  12. That's what I was about to post. This is the best option if you are talking about those Blue Blood programs getting to play in AA if there are 3 classes. Just move it back to A and AA. If we have 3 classes and you think Ensworth or BA should move into AA to win a gold ball, you are part of the problem.
  13. I don't think it's that short-sided. I want the best private teams in the states playing at the top level of DII. CPA would be a top 5 DII AAA team immediately. Heck, if you are nice to them and put them in the West, they are the best team already.
  14. Agreed, if BA and Ensworth move down that would be shocking. There is not a explanation in the world for why either of those schools should be in competition with schools like Silverdale, Webb Bell Buckle, etc. I don’t know about CCS or Knox Webb moving up, either. They aren’t consistently competitive or dominant in the class they are currently in. And I get it’s a #s thing. And they fit the criteria for what the committee has decided. I would vote to leave it how it is currently with the only exception being to move CPA up, get your 12th team, and call it a day.
  15. Possibility that his family moved, last I saw him listed it said from Knoxville, TN. But, his family may have moved to Chatt area by now.
  16. You say that about sleeping in a dorm room vs. your own bed, but that doesn't stop people. You act like the East TN schools dorms aren't incredibly nice The price per bed at one of those schools is more than 2x your mortgage big dawg. I'll leave this right here.. Baylor is going to start a QB, RB, WR2 who all have SEC offers and all are boarding students. Add a day student who is WR1 with SEC offers, and you have 4 skills players who have big-time offers on the same side of the ball. I think East TN is just fine keeping it all to themselves
  17. I’m so confused by all that’s going on in this thread now. But, I’m excited to see so many people invested in the academy. I believe Dca has support unlike any other DII A school. The next decade and beyond could be a special time if done right with all that’s happening there. They HAVE to build on the momentum and keep finding $ to improve facilities and attract folks to go there instead of one of the other 50 private schools in Nashville.
  18. I 100% agree with this statement. For change to come and things to continue to improve the school needs to get out of its comfort zone. Whether that be a potentially unconventional hire (see CJP), more $ to attract talent, etc. I want the academy to achieve unprecedented success in all sports and academics. And I think that is possible in time with the mentality you mentioned.
  19. That's good intel, thanks for the update. Congrats to Coach if that is the case. Great guy, wish him all the best in his new ventures in MO.
  20. I am not a hoops guy. And I didn't say they were a head college coach. Just that he had experience in a Nashville university under a legendary coach. And since has worked at the boy big level of DII in the state of TN. The point of the response is DCA can have top-level coaches in ALL sports. We don't have to settle for men or women who are good teachers and beg them/let coach because they want to. Nashville is attractive enough and DCA is strong enough that qualified coaches would go there if they are compensated well. I'm not saying CPW compensation. But, fair compensation. If you want to move this thing to the next level with that fancy new athletic building and facilities, HIRE COACHES to lead their sport. That gets me on another soap box, they need to pay teachers at the academy more as well. I KNOW they are getting a nice raise, and headed in a better direction. BUT it still isn't enough compared to comparable independent schools in TN.
  21. I'm afraid the search for basketball would be so small and closed. It would be some alumni/someone who has been through DCA in the coaching ranks in the past decade. I have a guy who would win basketball titles at DCA and who wants to be in the Nashville area with a resume and track record far more proven than Dr. Johnson and this is coming at the highest level of DII and college levels.
  22. Right?! What is this guy talking about Mid-State private school being on another level? DII AAA runs through Chattanooga. And it has been this way for a minute. Now, other areas of DII may run through the mid-state area. Some decent public school teams (see Pearl Cohn), but the Nashville elite private schools are getting taken to the shed by the two Chatt schools as of late. I still will never understand why a Nashville school has yet to embrace the boarding school model like Baylor and McCallie do. At Baylor only 200 kids board of the 800ish high school students. Most of those are out of state/country and around 75% of them are athletes that have excelled in their respective sport. It's not rocket science. Get kids through the doors that can play even if they aren't local. Nashville is a far more appealing draw than SE TN (Baylor and McCallie are great institutions, I'm speaking only on Chattanooga v. Nashville in terms of what the cities have to offer) and I think programs like MBA, Ensworth, BA, Lipscomb, etc. could dominate in most sports if that were to happen.
  23. I can’t wait for CPW to beat Ensworth annually for years to come. Ricky Bowers knows he messed up years ago passing on Wade and I’m looking forward to him being reminded.
  24. I hope you are right. Two good coaches mentioned right there at the end of that comment. Wish Vic was still at South Pitt. SE TN has a slew of good football coaches right now and a ton of good teams to watch. As far as Rankin, Boyd is starting to roll at that level of DII in that part of the state. Adding Fant to the community will only help. Silverdale is much improved. Reynolds at CCS is a good coach. Baylor and Mccallie, well are Baylor and Mccallie. Interested to see how ND will look with a familiar face to the landscape returning to state.
