Whats the update on Spring football down by the Stones?
-
Agree with the truth talker. In addition, go watch his hudl highlights... this kid was absolutely eating as a freshmen playing in 6A. He's splitting double teams and making tackles for loss consistently. He is going to be a stud at Grace. People bashing this kid for going to Grace don't know why his family chose Grace for him. The elite Chattanooga blueblood institution backers mind cannot fathom this, but there are folks who don't think they hung the moon or simply don't care. To each their own. Just say God bless and best of luck. Quit crapping on a 15 year old kid!

Agreed. CB is as good of coach as you'll find. Feel like he was done wrong. Helped them win their only state championship this millennium, promoted to associate head coach, then backdoored on out of the Suck Creek campus. That's big private school politics for you. I wish it had been done earlier so CB could have gotten one of the area head coaching jobs. He's elite.

I have no clue, but my best bet would be Jonas Rodriguez is named DC. He currently teaches at Baylor in the middle school after leaving BGA a year ago..

What a heck of a hire by Lakeway! Congrats to them and Coach Vandagriff, well done. Welcome to TN High School football.
-
🤣 From 3-8 and last place in the East Region (0 wins I might add) to State champs would be the the turn around of the decade. Add CPA to an already loaded East Region..... Knox Catholic would have to consider it a great year to finish in the top 4 in that region.

Best of luck to Coach Chauvin

The best hire in DCA athletics over the past 10 years was Paul Wade to coach football. The reason it was the best (championship aside) was that Paul Wade is a COACH first. He got hired and they found a spot for him to teach personal finance. Perhaps when it comes to wanting to be successful in the major sports, the academy should focus on hiring coaches and finding a fit for them within the school versus hiring faculty and allowing them to coach.

Based off results, it screams they are pretty average. Have beaten some teams. Lost to the bigger schools they have played and not in a very close manner.

Their New S&C coach should help

Assuming Martin stays put, I would agree that Geis has to be on the short list. I like the Brothers idea as well. Think he could bring JC with him? Quinn would do a good job as well. I disagree with the idea that JR would be considered. His teams were pretty average when he was the Head guy at ECS and BGA. And then add in that BB came into BGA year 1 and killed it... makes me doubt JR is ready for that type of gig even more. He's teaching and coaching middle school ball at Baylor now.

I don't disagree with that assessment at all. If they move away to a true independent school guy, who are the top 3 candidates in your opinion?

I have no allegiance to MBA nor do I ever cheer for them. Folks born and raised in Nashville, do not have a soft spot for MBA. I just think it's a better job with deeper pockets and resources than CPA.
-
If Ingle says no, I think all those guys are fantastic coaches and would do well at MBA.
-
I believe you are looking at this through extremely purple and gold tinted glasses. I don’t think CPA can win an arms race with MBA… I get what you are saying about Ingle and what he has said in the past. However, people say a lot of things about being happy in their current job. But when the big one opens and it’s no longer a hypothetical, it’s different. I hope you are right. I do think CPA is serious about winning and that he is able to call the shots there. And If he’s content keeping cpa a winner, more power to him. Will be interesting to see how it plays out
-
You may be right. He is king over there and has gotten what he has asked for. But it's his if he wants it. I would make him an offer he couldn't refuse if I was the MBA board.
-
I'll give you a handful of reasons of why I think I am right and that he would leave: 1. He is an MBA guy 2. More $$$ 3. More program prestige and tradition. Lifting gold balls at MBA means more than at CPA 4. Football facilities and backing that CPA does not have 5. Chance to improve his legacy if he can replicate his success at CPA at MBA I am not trying to talk bad about CPA or act like it isn't a dream job. But, on the short list of independent schools in TN to be the head football coach at MBA is a top 3 job in the state. CPA is right outside of that.
-
IMO, it's not even a question... Ingle Martin will be the next coach of MBA. Someone start the thread for who the next CPA coach will be

DII A - I'm assuming NCS since Curtis will return DII AA - give me one of the following: BGA/FRA/Boyd DII AAA - I'm going to say McCallie until someone beats them in the state title game. I honestly think that CPA does fine in DII AAA. I expect them to finish 3rd in the region behind McCallie, Baylor, or BA... I'm not sure how Baylor will be with the mass exodus of seniors at this point. Of course, DGG and Cherry will be back. But aside from those two, you are replacing everything else. But I assume the next bus of imported players will arrive this June. I expect CPA to make deep run in the playoffs in year 1 in DII AAA.

You act like public schools don't do a similar thing? Coach Brunetti was seen in Madison Middle more than any other coach when I use to work there back in the day coaching football. Last I checked, Madison Middle isn't a zone school for Pearl Cohn.... MNPS being open zone and allowing students to "apply" to go to a school in district but outside of their zone makes the playing field more level than you are willing to acknowledge.
-
Yellowstone - I gave my thoughts back on 11/16 when DCA was still playing. I'm not ready to crown him Big Game Jay, but he surpassed my expectations.
-
Booger is right, this isn't really a surprise to folks in the area. McCallie has a tradition of excellence and winning championships that Baylor does not quite have. They know how to win the big game. Baylor's roster is hands down more talented than Mccallie this year, but don't tell Joel Bradford that. Congrats to McCallie!

Crisp Fall night with cool temps across the great state, going to be an awesome night of football. Safe travels!

What a year it's been and what a slate of games this week for the semifinals! In DII A: JCS vs. NCS - Give me NCS in a close one DCA vs. CA - CJP makes corrections and shuts down the CA run game this time around for a big win DII AA: FRA vs. BGA - FRA earns a trip to Chattanooga CPA vs. Boyd - Perhaps, the DII AA game of the year. Last years state championship rematch... give me the Bucs in a close one DII AAA: BA vs. Baylor: This will be close again despite not having the weather conditions from the first time around, but I think Baylor prevails Mccallie vs. Ensworth - Mccallie wins by a TD The great part about these matchups is that I feel almost all of them could go either way. See you all in Chattanooga for the finals 🏈 THURSDAY, December 5 Finley Stadium, Chattanooga 11:00 AM: DII-AA 3:00 PM: DII-A 7:00 PM: DII-AAA

Bold post when they are playing one of the two teams that spanked them next week in the semifinals. But, I think he makes adjustments and you see a great semifinal on Friday night. At this point, I can say that CJP has surpassed my expectations in year 1 and looks like he was in fact the right guy for the job. Now, go beat CA. I didn’t even know they had a football team
