  1. There is a better Coach 15 minutes down the road who hoisted a gold ball last year at his DII school.... And he's got about 6 or 7 of them in his career at three DII schools in the area, just my thoughts
  2. Pre-2009 CPA was still a region foe and often the game decided the region title. I remember being a small kid in the elementary school going to the Lion's Den or hosting that game at Joe Patterson Field and loving every second of it. I get your point about playing bigger schools and I hope the new facilities and $ being invested in the school pays huge dividends to all areas of the school, including athletics.
  3. I'm not saying CPA wouldn't destroy them, i'm just saying historically that is a DCA region foe. It sucks playing the little bitties every single week. DII should still only have two classes. And I say that as a DCA alumn who saw them win a gold ball last year..
  4. I think DCA repeats fairly easily. This class is down with A, AA, and AAA now. I wish DCA would continue to schedule old rivals like Goodpasture, FRA, DA, and CPA. As an alumn, I hate seeing them play only against small schools.
  5. Baylor and McCallie having full scale boarding programs. LA using their resources to their advantage is smart, honestly. I've always thought the first big boy in Nashville to commit the $$$ to a boarding program would run DII.
  6. I'm not here to bash LA for their practices, I'm honestly just curious who had the best returning talent. Keep the nay say elsewhere. Did anyone have any thoughts on A or AAA?
  7. WHO returns the most talent in DII A, AA, AAA? Who lost the most? Early predictions as Spring practice is right around the corner.
  8. Does Kimrey at Baylor not appeal as the "Shiny new thing" ?? Dude won 12 titles in 17 years AND coached in the SEC... Just curious your thoughts?
  9. Nice Post! My thoughts: -DCA repeats in an Undefeated season, Paul Wade gets him another one. -Baylor finally gets over the hump and beats McCallie... this is looking 100% at returning talent (not coaching change). -Lipscomb repeats in AA.. Dilfer gets a gold statue -Ryan is the surprise team in AAA -Rankin's Bucs struggle in his inaugural season at Boyd
  10. I"m going to politely disagree. Looking at the past 5 years, Boyd has stunk. I would argue Red Bank, Tyner, E. Ham, are definitely schools you could pull kids from. But Baylor and McCallie run Chattanooga. CCS is better than Boyd in the same region. Silverdale is also on the rise. Notre Dame in the mix also. As far as being crazy to not go play for Rankin, he isn't a household name to kids from Howard School, or Brainerd, or Tyner. And Boyd Buchanan might as well not exist if you are an urban kid from East Chatt. The truth is if you aren't Baylor or McCallie, it's slim pickings. No way these smaller schools have the financial backing of the two big boys. And honestly -- if you are pulling Ham. county kids... you gotta beat out McCallie for top talent.
  11. Anyone who thinks Rankin walking in the door means an immediate turnaround is mistaken. I believe he will be successful there but in time... and I'm not sure success for Boyd looks quite the same as it does for Dilfer. Rankin is the best public school coach in the state, but this is a different animal than 3A. He won't be able to out athlete most schools on his schedule like he's done in the past. Not to mention -- he inherits a 4-6 team that got dominated in region play. D2AA is tough now. I would argue that Lipscomb beats McCallie if they play last year. McCallie didn't have a guy as good as Broome or Richesson. All that being said, I'm excited to see Rankin in the Chattanooga area! Welcome and congrats to the Bucs!
  12. Should be a great game much like earlier in the year. I think DCA wins, but I'm admittingly biased as an alumn. Folks rolling into town for the game(s), check out Chattanooga Brewing Co. or Naked River right next door to Finley. Enjoy the football and this great city!
  13. As a DCA homer, I think they end up in Chattanooga this December. Some combination of them, Silverdale Baptist -- who has played some great football, NCS, or USJ.
