    DCA

Denny, I think you may be right about being overrated. I believe that the best A teams in the state are in West TN. But DCAs non-district wins against bigger schools have been impressive. They may be in for a rude awakening. As for the broman Friendship fan, got nothing to root for so you gotta come on here talking smack about DCA...what's the problem you have with them...you're kid get wronged and leave the school or something?
  7. #1, DCA gives no scholarships to athletes. #2, Pigeon Forge is part of an open zone system meaning that they can have any player in all of Sevier County...a lot more of an advantage than being a private school that does not give scholarships. #3, what kind of difference would it have been for DCA to have its 6-2 post player to go against those two posts of yours...stop making excuses.
  8. First, a great high school basketball game in a great atmosphere. Second, both teams played their guts out and are to be commended on their competitiveness. There were a few times both teams could have given up but didn't. Third, Coach Spann and his staff showed why they have good teams every year and why they have one gold ball and one silver ball. Their kids did a great job of executing what they wanted done by slowing things down against DCA's athleticism, with the exception of the third quarter. It appeared that DCA could have dominated the game (terrible shooting) but Ezell played with that pride that makes their program great and hung in for 4 tough quarters. Can't wait to see the rematch later in the season.
  9. NOPE. Not with Ezell Harding, FRA, Goodpasture and CPA in their district...To think they can go undefeated is a long shot, but beating them all by 25 is a little crazy. Winning this district is a tough go.
  10. Cheatham won by 10 with 2 DCA players out for that scrimmage. Don't know if that is a "whoopin" or not???? But Cheatham County was clearly the better team that day. I think that DCA has gotten much better since that day in early November. Cheatham County is a very good team that will make a lot of noise in AA and has as good a shot as any to make the state tournament again...as does Harpeth. Something that constantly amazes me on these coacht threads is that when a team wins they rarely get the credit, it's always because the other team played poorly or because they came with no intensity or something else. Maybe the other team had something to do with all those things? One time I would like to see a post that said your team is better than my team. Maybe that is not true with Harpeth and DCA, but if you look at all the threads you will see it over and over again. Rarely credit to the winning team, always that the losing team didn't play well. We all know that happens, sometimes....but you would think that all teams that lose are better than the teams that win. Just a view from the cheap seats.
  11. Monster Man you are clueless. DCA has always been able to compete. They were 5-7 in 1997. That is their only losing record since 1986 or 1987. All six CPA players that signed that year were at CPA in elementary school before CPA even had a football program. If you don't believe me, track down a year book. As far as DCA goes, 12 of their 15 seniors have been at DCA most of their life. One transfered to DCA from Metro Baptist at the beginning of 9th grade because they didn't have football. Another one came in 9th grade from a public school but didn't play football until his senior year. The third one is a kicker who just came out as a senior and never gets to play. Chris Wooden(tailback) was an offensive lineman when he began playing football in middle school at DCA. Give the recruiting crap a rest. As far as USJ/JCS. They are two well coached teams with very good defenses. Should be a big time environment playing for a region championship and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
  12. Bottomline, That is a flat out lie. I can assure you that never happened at DCA nor does DCA recruit.
  13. Moving post back to the top
  14. DCA is looking to replace a canceled scrimage on Tuesday, Aug 10. If interested contact Dennis Goodwin at 615-883-2926 x109 or at dgoodwin@dcanet.org.
