  1. and God forbid we know what they are trying to say.
  2. yeah that was a glimpse of what they could have done. they would have been very good if dilfer would have stayed or they would have had a better coach transition. not sure if they would have won the final game but they would have been in the mix.
  3. we are still a maybe but if we are there, I would love that!
  4. not sure about the rest of them but I think baylor and mccallie will be a rematch for the gold ball. both teams are too good. TBH, the only way any team will compete with them consistently will be to attract talent like dilfer did. sad his LA teams weren't in D2-AAA. those would have been fun to watch.
  5. you going to the game tomorrow night??
  6. well, you and your college buddy have perspectives based on your experience that are valid, too. like everything, it is a complicated situation with some good, some bad. I appreciate the conversation! what school are you rooting for this season?
  7. you seem like a reasonable guy, so I will respond but am not trying to rehash this whole thing. dilfer was a great coach, a great CEO (the program ran like a well oiled machine) and as pointed out by @cbg, very successful on the field. most people at LA liked him but some didn't. almost everyone else around the area and the state didn't like him because he ran up the score, left his starters in too long and was very brash. he didn't play by many unwritten rules. he lost his temper and acted in ways he should not have, no doubt. however, there was no proof he ever broke a rule and I promise if there was they would take those championships back in a heart beat because the TSSAA didn't like him either. now LA's players are paying the penalty for mawae breaking the rules and he did, no question. additionally, he was not a good coach. I have been around all 3 coaching staffs and know some of them very well. the guys that are there now who are great dudes were all on dilfer's staff and were great dudes then. I hope coach graham, TK and coach arnold are all successful because they along with the others are good men who I think very highly of. your college buddy may have had a bad experience with dilfer and he is not alone but the guys I mentioned would not be where they are without dilfer so I am grateful for all he did. if you want to understand dilfer a little more, check out these links where he talks about losing his son... https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/06/13/why-is-trent-dilfer-coaching-high-school-football-one-reason-is-son-he-lost/ https://ottercreek.org/sermon/letting-go-of-fear-the-fear-of-losing-someone-precious/ hope that makes sense. not justifying his bad behavior, just some context if anyone is interested. and yes, this might be a long season if they play like they did in the first half. hopefully the second half team shows up next week!
  8. ive been reading but not responding much but thought I would jump in. I think you guys are mostly on the money. I think first academy is better than thought tho. they were as big as LA or bigger and definitely faster. speed will be a problem for LA this year just like it was last year. I think we will do ok and I agree, I think we will get better through the season. im curious to see if LA stays in D2-AAA or goes down and only time will tell if they make CPA go up. which by they way I have a kid at CPA now as well, so funny how the cookie crumbles. it's been a great experience and theawesomebro has some humble pie to eat. back to LA, the new coaching staff is a bunch of great guys and I think the players are bought in. I do think the lack of new players for a couple of years will make for some rough going for a couple of seasons. time will tell.
  9. how so? who is the money behind baylor and mccallie? if you mean endowment, yes but I would bet the money behind ensworth and MBA dwarfs those other schools. the frist family who strongly supports ensworth is worth $22 billion. according to forbes, no one else in TN is worth $5 billion. also, an alumni recently left a single gift to MBA rumored to be over $100 million. ted turner has roughly 1/10th of the frist's net worth.
  10. I agree with you there. I like the split but love the D1 v D2 matchups!
  11. I cant speak for other schools but I know LA did not hand pick the whole team. plenty of those kids have been grinding at LA before dilfer showed up for a chance to play on the team and got it.
  12. this is really funny considering bradley's transfer portal achievements. : )
  13. 2 of those are all #1 in 6A, not all divisions. bradleys strength of schedule alone would keep them from being ranked #1 in the state. the tennessean super 25 has them #5, when you include all divisions. I have yet to see any poll that puts them #1 in the state. I wouldn't get too worked up about JV scores. I am excited for you though! bradley is peaking at the right time and looks great. there are lots of other great 6A teams so playoffs should be more exciting than the last couple of years.
  14. what website? your post title is pretty misleading. this is one of the better ranking websites I have seen. https://masseyratings.com/hsf/tn/ratings has you guys 7th in the state, 10th offense and 33rd SOS. why would you guys be ranked above the other TN teams above you?
  15. I was trying to be honest about the situation as i understand it and have a constructive conversation. you are clearly not capable of either.
  16. thanks for the kind reply. maybe ill run into you at a baseball game this year.
  17. there is a lot on here and I dont really know what to say. to the haters, enjoy. being a hater says more about you than those you are hating on. to those asking actual questions... - regarding this year, the whole deuce debacle has been well documented. i think we will forfeit the briarcrest game. nothing else. - I do not think this is so much about dilfer tenure. the infraction was between an assistant and a parent of I believe an 8th grader and if i am correct, that kid is at a different school. this isn't the first drama surrounding this family and I bet it wont be the last. best of luck to them. - there are no other games or gold balls in question as far as i know so don't get too excited. as I said, the kid was in 8th grade. I am really disappointed in the post season ban. lots of good kids will miss a chance to play some games that might have been meaningful to them. ultimately, this is on the coaches. very disappointed in them. as has been pointed out, except for the deuce thing, I am not sure this is any different from most schools. they are all bringing in players from other schools. we were just too blatant or dumb and got caught. sucks to be us.
  18. yes, my point exactly. leave the other teams off because there is no chance.
  19. I think mccallie and baylor will be on opposite sides of the bracket, all but ensuring an all chatt matchup. you can scratch those other teams right off IMHO.
  20. just messing with you. none of them will be running clocks according to you!
  21. are you drunk? why are you posting the same thing on every thread? booger thinks there are no 5 star rated players in the state pretty much ever. apparently he can't see the term "5 star" without saying something even if it has nothing to do with an actual player. I agree that is a nice HSFB site.
  22. most important game in east tn but there are lots of important games statewide. region 3, 6a championship will be decided when riverdale goes to oakland. my pick for most important since oakland owns the last 3 gold balls. region 6, 6A championship will be decided when ravenwood goes to brentwood. region 6 , 5A comes down to nolensville at page
