  1. I dare say this is the first quality win in school history. Ezell has a great program year in and year out. Good to hear that it was the D that carried us home after that huge td strike from pugh to wally.
  2. Please note that I didn't make one bud...
  3. It's absurd if they don't....this game is great for both schools and the county as a whole. It'd be like UT not playing Vandy...sure UT wins most of the time and it's not the biggest game of the year for the Vols....but ask the players on both of those teams if that game is important....theres nothing more satisfying than winning a good game against a good team, but theres just something special about beating a cross town rival. Besides that, it'd leave more money in both school's travel budgets.
  4. I haven't seen either team play, but whichever team shows up and executes their offense better and wins the turnover battle will win. I can't wait to see it....i think its going to be a heck of a fight! GO EAGLES!
  5. It's all good...I know youre a good kid and wouldnt mean it the wrong way....just keep the train rolling, finish strong, and keep building....one good season doesn't make tradition, and thats what we need to be aiming for. I like the direction we're headed and wish we had Coach Yancey when i was there. Wish I could be there Friday...I'm expecting good things!
  6. Woah hold up there dude...running the football effectively is the biggest factor in winning football games on any level. Running the ball, controlling the clock, dominating the line of scrimmage will beat even a good spread at least 80% of the time. A team with good depth that follows that formula will win 90% of the time. I'm proud of you guys as a graduate of the school, and a guy who literally aside from the grace of God should have died from a ruptured spleen and 12 shoulder dislocations over 2 years while wearing your uniform (that should tell you who i am). That said you should never come on coach t and brag about beating a team that played well against you, because you will have to play them again, and certainly never discount the importance of running the ball. I believe in you guys and think that if we execute well and don't turn the ball over we can compete with most teams we play, and wish like heck I could be there to see the PC game, but you better believe I wouldn't miss October 31st for the world. Go Eagles
  7. Speaking of bad english....USE THE SPACE BAR!!!!! We feel the need to use it between sentences at Zion, so that even if certain students don't care enough to speak correctly, the sentences are still somewhat decipherable. All that aside, this was a huge win for the Eagles. Zion has been capable of winning, but the players of past classes just haven't had the desire necessary to win. If they stay disciplined and focused, there is no reason we shouldn't be a legitimate contender with Cass on the floor. HOWEVER, bigcenter, don't start talkin smack yet because one win against Wayne (aside from winning the hearts of their Sonic girls...lol) doesn't mean anything. It was an early season regular season game, with very little impact on the tournament. Wayne was up by double digits for a reason...still great win, wish I could've been there!
  8. the problem is if you watch the offense that zion is running, there is no way to compare nathan and roger....because though nathan was the tallest player on the floor he was also the furthest away from the basket. zion had very few second chance points because most of the time they only had one rebounder! i know theres a reason i dont coach basketball, but honestly now....on this level, instead of shooting threes nathan needs to be making three point plays in the paint and wearing down the defense. He's a great talent, and he will be an all conference player the next couple seasons regardless of his physicality, but as long as he plays a guard/forward position he wont dominate the way he could if he were on the block popping out for threes off occasional screens. right now he does seem a little timid and one dimensional offensively, but for those who werent at the game he got almost every defensive rebound within the last 4 minutes of the game when it counted instead of getting a pointless dunk in the 3rd quarter and losing the game. it was good win for a shorthanded zion team, but definately couldve gone either way. both teams have a long way to go to even think about contending with wayne co.
  9. Nathan is definately up to that level of competition, but when his parents got divorced he came back to Zion because of the commute. (he had been living with his dad in brentwood) HOWEVER, I dont know if hes physical enough to be a dominant low post force....he has post moves, but thinks like a shooter. Unless he bulks up I think heck play a small forward position in college because hes got an excellent shot from the arc. The officiating in the WC game was mostly fair i think. I'm an unbiased Zion graduate and wish some of our fans (well every teams fans for that matter) were more knowledgable when it came to some of the calls. This should be an interesting game, and I'll be out there supporting my alma mater, but the winner really depends on who has a better game plan, more endurance, and probably whoever gets better breaks.
  10. Jacob Malone has been a rock for Zion....he's as good as anybody.
  11. They got zion 19-7....they're looking really tough but not invincible. I think they're the class of 12 A
  12. how many guys does hampshire even have? i heard they only have 10 or 11 healthy players.
