  1. Just for conversation, HRB record looks 1-4, averaging over 20 points a game & hit over 30 in a couple. That's not reord highs but that's probably better than some. Is the outlook really that bad for those kids? School? Program? Or just frustration setting in?
  2. I agree with this. #71 was a far & away better lineman than #77 that stood on the sideline many plays. Looked out of condition physically & mentally. Viking defense should be absolutely staggering being led by those 2. Nobody is leading, no team, just 11 kids playing. Coaching? I don't know, but when a 30 player team has 15 people in the stands backing them..... I feel sorry the kids on this team.
  3. I think this will be a very good game. I think Union City & South Fulton will be a good game. Region 7 1A is a rowdy bunch. At this point it looks like 6 teams have a legit shot to make the 4 playoff spots. As such, there will be some good football teams left on the outside looking in come November. Some team fans want so badly to have this buzz that they are good. Prove it with quality wins, the buzz will take care of itself.
  4. Just asking, because I'm completely unfamiliar with the area south of Dyersburg, but would Ripley pull kids from here since they are in county? Is Ripley the "county school" there as they are 3A?
  5. What I saw last Friday night was a super clean small town stadium full to the brim with young children enjoying being at the ball park playing around the edges. Home stands that weren't filled to capacity, but definitely weren't empty. Honorable mention to the band for absolutely rocking the Star Spangled Banner. Goodness they must have had 45 cheerleaders! There was a lot of good things to say about Halls. Probably the most welcoming travel game community ever. But there was no energy or hunger on the field. Zero, none at all. Maybe I missed it??? But they didn't even announce their own starting players?? Really? Those kids deserve to be announced in front of their family & friends. No music on timeouts to lift moods & spirits, never called out a players name that made a tackle or first down or catch or anything. Just no energy at all. Yeah, they were facing a tall task in playing Dresden this year on that night, but that team was beat long before the game started. I don't know the history of this or that & don't care. Right here, right now, those kids need some support and some influx of positive energy or enthusiasm. I would imagine practice is about as miserable as could be. It's easy to blame the coaches, especially new ones. Maybe they are making good decisions & building a program, maybe its the worst hire ever??? I don't know, but it takes more than the coaches to influence those kids & give them some mental toughness & form of belief in themselves to be able to push each other & compete. I'd start with the announcer, get another one that sounds like he actually wants to be there & not afraid to announce a kids name. Let that kid hear his name called when he's done something on the field. It just might inspire him to make another good play
  6. The only nail biter is if Mullins will break the all time single game rushing record of 572. 400+ will get him on the list & I for one won't be surprised to see it happen. I'm not hating on the Halls kids, but that team should be FAR BETTER than they are.
  7. Nay, They've played one relevant game team & lost by 40. Replied to the wrong vote quote. oops!
  8. Both teams seem to still be trying to find their groove. I think Westview wins in a another high scoring game.
  9. Start the clock when the Dyersburg busses drive up. It's just the truth. Dyersburg has tons to loose in the form of injury from what maybe could be a title team. McNairy is going NOWHERE.
  10. I agree, coach has definitely sparked something for the better in Obion. However, Haywood is a bit different animal than their last big win against Fulton County.
  11. Interested to see how this turns out. Neighbor town rivals bring out the best in each other.
  12. Four red zone turnovers & lost to Obion by 1 point? If Westview figures out the ball is their friend on offense they will be fine. I figure they will get it together & show out this week.
  13. The Lions have faced LC in 7x7 action. Well aware of how good that quick pass game can be. But coming over the middle will feel a bit different when its no longer 2 hand touch. LC has played 2 good teams & have to be hungry for a win. They will be ready for Friday. If Dresden can control the trenches & the clock like they did against McKenzie, they should have a good chance.
  14. IMO, Adamsville wins weren't exactly statements. They have some size & can move the ball. At any rate, they should be fired up. All the talk of Huntingdon's mishaps would have to be confidence boosters & with a bye week, the 'Stangs haven't had a chance to silence the noise or work out season nerves like teams that have played 2 games by now. What the heck, I'll take Adamsville in fiery game right to the end.
  15. I'll take OCCHS. For Westview, #1 is a punishing runner to get to open field. No arm tackling that kid. Minimum 2 or 3 to take him down. #3 is a good RB too. WV Just don't have the size up front they've played with for years. LB Pritchett out for the year sure don't help.
  16. The list? Just my 2 cents; Dyersburg's win was better than Henry's. Riverside's loss to the largest public team in the state might be better than beating PURE. McKenzie capitalized on a horrific effort by Huntingdon. Arguments to move everybody around, but it's too early. Everyone looking to build or right the ship from last week, I just don't want to read about a kid succumbing to this heat. Please be careful!! NOTHING is going to happen in week 2 that can't be overcome during the rest of the season.
  17. Yep to Perry & Stewart. Neighbor rival Gleason will bring out the best in them, so I'll count that a toss up. South Fulton & Halls, should be L's, but that's why they play the game. I've seen a lot of West Carroll this summer & they are still figuring things out. Even as such, they blistered Stewart Co in the Jamboree. I think Greenfield will pull that out. Lots of good fan support in Greenfield, might be a tough year but they'll be ok in the long run.
  18. Haven't played ya'll in a few years. I guess I still remember your last Championship team that had such player size. I didn't pay attention to how many there were.
  19. I have no idea what OCCHS brings this year, but they are going to miss Johnny Light. He was a wrecking ball. I'll pull for 1A Lake, but I'm definitely watching to see how this goes. We get Lake before Obion, but play both. Secondly, why the low player count at Lake? Just curious
  20. Typical Memphis garbage. They get put in 2A, appeal, get moved back to 1A, keep adding player. Not just students, football players. This is a sad injustice to small school everywhere.
