  1. I didn't know it legal for Huntingdon to throw the ball???
  2. Sometimes hiding out in the open is what works in small towns. Good ole boy club quiets a lot of things. Like the local (several) that's drunk 24/7/365 for decades. Drunk at work, passed out in the bar 7 days a week, driving everywhere. Everybody knows it, sees it, talks about it. DUI's posted every week in the paper, but never see that name. Why?
  3. From about as far away from Cloudland as you can get in TN, so just asking. Looking at a map, how would such a small place like Cloudland afford a turf field. Don't they start at a $1 million? Just right around here several 1A clubs in NW TN barely have bleachers to set on and HS football is a big deal. Where's the money coming from?
  4. So, I guess every state title football team from last fall was full of lazy kids because of their generation? I guess those endless hours in the gym & trying to eat right mean nothing since they have a cell phone? Oh, ok. Those 1A kids with practice jerseys so torn and worn out they barely stay on in practice is because they are generationally lazy? Soooooo it's not their parents that are strung out, in jail or you know, genuinely too lazy (or too good) to fundraise to help provide all of the kids with better equipment? Glad that's cleared up now. Generational grouping, what a PATHETIC excuse
  5. Does Union City lose their two huge linemen on offense, Center & Guard to graduation? They were quite the dynamic duo. UC always has some speed but those two are going to be hard to replace.
  6. Dresden caches slack for their scheduling. I'll admit it bothers me too. Truth is, they only lose maybe 5 to graduation and not all were starters. A full year under the new coaching staff, Dresden should be tough in their region play for sure.
  7. I understand having family ties somewhere, but playing Ripley is even worse than playing Halls. Try paying the bills on these extreme long distance games for a small school when the AD keeps turning a cold shoulder to the team and money needs. Parents that work endless hours fundraising and providing get tired of this. This matchup will NEVER, turn into a rival game in any capacity. Will it be a good game on a Friday night? Maybe, but this is worse than when Dresden was stuck playing in-Region McEwen. Another hard drive to play an easy game when they now pass on their in-county rival. Westview has a generational team right now, probably not going to pull the upset there. Don't want to play them, fine no problem, but scheduling mediocre teams then calling a 10 win season impressive. C'mon man. Want Hwy22 to turn into a parking lot? Beat Westview right out of the gate to start the season, Union City, McKenzie by 30, all in their stadiums, then the fans that don't have kids currently on the field will get excited about the Lions again. The 2024 Lions did exactly what was expected considering what they lost in coaches & graduation and they came together towards the end when most teams would have quit. That was very impressive. I will support them forever, and you have to play in-Region teams no matter what, but cheesecakeing the rest of the schedule is not the way to prove anything.
  8. Does anyone that follows high school football in the area think HC isn’t going to back the program? Definitely agree, coming from the neighboring county. Probably some truth on both sides of this situation, but HC's a huge rabid fan base is involved here. They want & expect to beat everyone, everywhere, every time. That's why this was attractive to Kirby & so many in the first place. However, dare to say a high % of the fans have already forgotten Kirby, they just want to know who is going to be rowing the boat forward and ready to get behind them.
  9. Keith Hodge, from Paris. Took Dresden to final, semi-finals & McKenzie to the finals last year. He left Dresden to go to Murray, KY (then came back to Dresden) & they beat perennial state Champ Mayfield (not in the playoffs) for one of the few times ever. Teaches young men far more than football. Would be a great hire & already lives there
  10. So is Hodge a potential at HC?
  11. Rang took the Dresden Lions to the title and killed Greenback in the process. Now he goes to coach there? I thought Greenback (per convo's on here) was unsure if they'd even have a team in the future??
  12. Well deserved, congrats young man. Playing with little brother right beside you, what an inspiration to him and football families everywhere!
