Here is the issue in a nutshell. Maryville is a well coached football team, but they don't have the athletes that they once had. I believe that coach Hunt had a very good game plan, unfortunately athleticism took over. I would compare him at this stage in his career as being a "Tommy McDaniel" type of coach. He is pretty good but not elite.

Really, you think that little cramped up stadium at Maryville with the back of the west endzone going up hill is great? I am a Blackman fan, but I hope they beat ya again.

Okay, I disrespectfully agree. Numbers do not always tell the true story. I would agree that McDaniel was a decent coach, but he did not make OHS what it has become. One state title and one district title does not make him the foundation of where Oakland football is today. If you want to continue to "cling" to that idea, you have the right to be wrong. Just like you were about Blackman not being able to compete in the game.

The players have noting to be ashamed of. They played their hearts out.

Absolutely hurt them with the onside kicks. Coach, you don't need to give the opposing team a shorter field to score.

McDaniel did have a great first year, but the rest of his tenure wasn't bad but wasn't great. He only won one district title during his seven year tenure. How has he done at Christian Brothers?

Blackman matched the physicality of OHS's defense by running at them. They messed up by continually onside kicking. You can't give Oakland a short field. Nothing to be ashamed of by Blackman. Oakland's defense is not anywhere near what it has been the past years. Going to be an interesting game with Maryville.

I probably will be wrong tonight, but I think Blackman will give Oakland all that they want.

I think you may be inflating the success of the previous coach. As I recall, he only one district/region championship. Not saying he wasn't a decent coach, but he definitely wasn't elite.

And Creasy should be embarrassed for getting run over by CPA. A team that FRA beat.

I am sorry if I upset you. You still haven't responded to the CPA reference. You know the game in which CPA dominated both your defensive and offensive lines? To deny that OHS will be favored in the match with BHS would be laughable, however, this is going to be a different game this time. OHS's defense is NOT ELITE! They are undersized, and CPA provided the road map to follow. Don't run away from them, run it down their throat. Either way, I believe it will be entertaining.

Not to be critical, but who did you play that would be considered elite? You were slapped around by a four loss CPA team.

All that you have stated I agree with, but Tygard needs to get away from the "onside" kicks and begin thinking field position football. The Blackman roster is much more talented overall than Oakland's. Make them play from behind.

Two things that you may have forgotten. Oakland has not played Maryville this year, and this isn't the same Oakland defense as last year. Not saying Blackman is going to win hands down, but with their talent they are more than capable of making this game.

I am not sure they can do that, Oakland's defense appears to have improved as the year has progressed. However, this is not the dominant defense that they have had in previous years. Blackman will have a chance to do damage if they develop a solid game plan. You have to match the physicality of Oakland's if you want to be successful. Just ask CPA.

New to the site, but what a time to talk football. I like Blackman's chances against Oakland, but they cannot have the turnover bug.
