  1. I think Webb has better talent after watching them a few games. Saw them in Lebanon and they had third string in beating teams, their depth is phenomenal.
  2. Talking to everyone around the midstate, sounds like what every coach and fan thinks about Coffee County and their staff. Maybe they will prove everyone wrong this year
  3. WC girls are very good and have not seen the boys play but I know both teams beat Tullahoma who is not very good on the girls side after starting with one win and losing by 30+ to Warren County and the boys are average AAA team is my guess after only beating a below average Warren County boys team. White County and Upperman seem to be the best two teams out of that district?
  4. And with some of the higher classification schools they do not. These teams going to play Alabama tournaments during Christmas show they want wins versus experience. The AA and A ball teams always seem to play quality teams and games yearly.
  5. I agree with that, the coaching staff is solid but the head coach has a history of doing this yearly. A few assistants still on staff looking out for their own kids does not help but overall a very solid staff. Good assessment
  6. The rankings for week 2 baffle me from the TNReport. How is Webb not always ranked #1 in the state? They have division one talent up and down the roster from recruiting but still should hold the top spot. Does anyone think that Bartlett gives Webb a game for four quarters? I would also have Bradley ranked ahead of Blackman at this time based off the competition Bradley has faced and what they have done. Coffee County has not played anyone early to be ranked fifth although they have the talent and coaching to make a run their schedule always leaves little to be desired from a program that wants to be top tier but has yet to make it out of region play. Upperman should be ranked higher and I think a lot of schools rank higher than MTCS. Just opinion, anyone else have one?
  7. What I love about all the teams you mentioned like Summertown, Moore County, Gibson is they play tough schedules that get them prepared for late season runs. They aren’t concerned with records throughout the year but rather focused on that one goal in the end. The coaching is great within this classification as well, really remarkable what they do with the talent they have.
  8. Was that score with both teams at full strength? My thoughts are York is a good match-up for a team like Warren County. They would struggle, obviously, with teams like Coffee County, Cleveland, and Bradley. York is very good and well coached, that Bradley game will be good for a half.
  9. Interesting about Alcoa have not seen them play this year. McMinn is very well coached so that is not a bad loss just the amount is head scratching. I think all the new coach hires with such fanfare starting the seasons so poorly and with such turmoil.
  10. Any reason a highly ranked Bradley team would not face a Coffee County team in the early season to see where the two potential state teams are at this point? I am going to say Coffee County did not want to see Bradley and sticking with tradition decided to play lower classification teams, although York and McMinn are very good.
  11. I agree I think page and Elizabethton will get better as season goes on. Lawrence County is really going to shock people with scores and I think Lincoln County can as well. what teams are you disappointed in or shocked about right now?
  12. I believe they can stay with them but this Bradley team might be the best one in last seven years. Strong, can shoot, defend, deep, and athletic at all positions.
  13. Warren County bounced back big tonight. Although it was against a weak Tullahoma team, beating any team by 30 points is a good way to go into Thanksgiving.
  14. Sorry I have been down with the flu the past few days but I did get a chance to catch the Bradley and Warren County game on Saturday. Bradley has a lot of talent and size where Warren County is small and quick in some areas but they rely heavy on zone defense and trapping full court pressure which does not work when you are one shot and done or turning the ball over consistently. I also think Bradley had the upperhand with coaching, the girls looked more prepared and it showed with their play. I did not see the other game, games were running so far behind on Saturday I believe it was close to 8:00 before they played it.
  15. I believe SS and Upperman could have a rematch in the state tournament this year. Page has looked impressive early and Greenville along with White County also have been playing good basketball. Upperman plays in the toughest district with White County and the region has Page in it where other teams have a much easier path to the glass house. It will be a very interesting season with good basketball
  16. I would expect SS to play for a championship this year but the AAA ranks of girls basketball is brewing with talent all over the state. It could be the teams who stay away from major injuries and those that get contributions from young players when it matters. AAAA is very similar with highly ranked teams starting the year 1-2. Girls basketball in the state is at an all-time high currently.
  17. Sorry coach Page is AAA and it might be a AA thread but losing to them makes it a AAA thread now. I expect Summertown to make waves this season and get better as the season goes on, good luck to your team
  18. White County with two very impressive wins todays. Sevier County splits on the day losing a tight contest to White County and beating Tullahoma. Tullahoma goes 0-2 on the day losing to both.
  19. Hate to have missed that heavyweight battle but sounds as if both teams played great. White County might make a big run this season which is always good for basketball fans in middle tennessee.
  20. I have not seen them play but my good friend said they were loaded with talent and looked every bit the part against Maryville. I value his opinion so I would say they will give White County a true test to see exactly where they are early in the season.
  21. I believe Sevier County will give White County a good test and should beat Tullahoma. White County should have no problem with Tullahoma in a early region match-up. Cumberland County gave Cookeville everything they had Friday. The AAA Upper Cumberland district is loaded with teams and they will host the region tournament this year I think? They could send two teams to the glass house and very well should have four teams that deserve to be there over other teams in the state from weaker districts.
  22. I have only mentioned teams I have seen play with my own two eyes. Your group will be there and will have a very easy road to get there with a talented group of young ladies and one of the best coaches in the state who does a lot of work that goes unnoticed by most. I think the physical play of Upperman and what they have to deal with inside their district throughout the year as well as their nondistrict schedule sets them up for another run. They are going to be young in some key spots and it will show at some times so that could be the deciding factor but come tournament time Coach McWilliams will have them ready to play as will your coach.
  23. Page will be playing at Coffee County tomorrow in the hall of fame games against summertown and ravenwood. White County is hosting games in their area and I believe they play Tullahoma but that could be just boys.
  24. Coffee County needs to play some really good competition early to get ready to make deep impactful runs late in the year. They should not be playing Central Magnet and Columbia Academy which only boosts their win total but does not help them with tournament play late in the year when it matters. They have Bradley Central coming to their gym Saturday and Warren County will face them. This will be the type of team Warren County will struggle against all year, big and physical with outside shooters who can spread you out. Page will also be playing Ravenwood but Ravenwood is down and not very good this year, however it is a chance for AAA folks to see a new Page team with a familiar middle tennessee face coaching them. Coffee County should dominate their hall of fame games with the most interesting Contest being between the pioneers and the bears.
