  1. Like I said in a post earlier, I wish I knew who everyone was so I could thank in person, but thank you. He works his tail off and I’m excited for the opportunity for my boy to showcase his skills. Beast of the East was his coming out party. Out of 8 matches in Delaware he only got scored on in one of the matches. Going to be a fun weekend. And yes, I’m glad Joe is small school. Been wrestling him and Ethan his whole career. Those kids were the rabbits and part of the reason Mason worked so hard. Forever thankful for those boys
  2. Thank you. Been training his whole life for this moment. He’s focused. He will put on a show I can promise that. I’m looking forward to watching it myself. Wish I knew who some of y’all were so I could thank you in real life, but this will have to do. Thank you.
  3. Yes glad they’re in small school. Lost a lot of title growing up to the Uhorchuks.
  4. There’s levels to this. Mason is on a different level. Tune in, it will be a show. Last years medals don’t equal this years success
  5. Jakob did place at Beast of the East. Has teched kids that pinned Baltz. Has also wrestled Creque in past and it wasn’t close. Just saying, don’t get your hopes up!!!
  6. Glad it has worked out for you and your kid. Have to do what makes them happy. Life isn’t a one size fits all. Two of my boys didn’t really like wrestling. Two of them do. I told the two that didn’t not to do it for me because I wanted them to be happy and do what they love. My other two can’t get enough of it.
  7. Buddy I could afford to lose both lol
  8. If a parent followed me to my car it would not end well so probably a good thing I never plan on reffing. That really is psycho and I hate you had to deal with that. I’ve never even heard of something like that. That’s dumb by the parent because you never know who is concealing. I’d never even dream of something like that but people are crazy I guess. And yeah it took me a couple decades but I finally figured out what caused all those kids lol
  9. As a state we have way more than 5 good refs. I think it would be doable.
  10. I work 12 hour days 5 days a week with 8 kids….yeah I’m not finding no extra time. Dealing with parents is just part of it. Doesn’t matter what sport. Same thing in baseball. Just have to ignore it. Most of the crazy parents have no clue what they’re talking about anyways.
  11. Eh, it’s easy to see who the best refs are. They should ref the bigger matches. Also, not everyone has time to be a ref. I could never due to work schedule and off time is spent on watching kids compete.
  12. I don’t think the survey is meant to trash the refs. One of my very good friends is a ref, a great one and this is his first year. I’m at Halls right now with my younger son and he had a kid on his back with reverse half for 5 seconds and didn’t get a back point one. There are some great refs in this state. However, there are some awful ones too. There’s a huge disparity in the quality of refs. A kid on DB lost in sectional final match by one point. Hit for stalling with 15 seconds left on his feet, handfighting in the middle of the mat, neither kid shooting. You cannot make that call. I know refs aren’t perfect, but we do have some really bad ones. They don’t know what a takedown is. They don’t know what back points are. They are ###### when someone questions their calls. I’ve been all over the country watching my boy wrestle and I’ll say what I see here is worse than I see anywhere else. Glad to hear cancer is gone and all you had to do was lose a nut lol I’ve thought about selling mine. Word on street is you can get $25,000 a piece for them lol
  13. Great job buddy. Sarcasm aside, I pray you healed and are cancer free. I’m just saying, you are the one always telling people go ref, go do rankings, get involved in your local area… this is a forum where discussions happen. Many opinions on here. Let people vent their frustrations without you belittling or feeling the need to tell them what they should do!!! Again, really hope you’re doing better healthwise.
  14. With that said there are some great officials in this state. Unfortunately, we could use some more of them.
  15. You love telling people what they should be doing lol Maybe you should go do it since you do so much for the sport of wrestling in the state. Also, I just wanted to thank you for offering to put me in touch with someone so I could help out with wrestling in the state. I did a little reaching out and got involved some. Thanks again. People are allowed to have opinions that differs from yours just fyi I saw one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen decide a sectional final match yesterday. I think it’s fair if people expect better officiating, especially when they invest so much for the kid to do the sport and the money it takes to get into the events. As a fan/parent of a high level wrestler in the state, and helping facilitate one of the best clubs in the state I’d love to see TN improve at the wrestler level, and the official level. Too many calls are way too subjective and some of the officials are calling takedowns at the high school level way before control is ever even established.
  16. I just thinks it’s a lot different now. More evolved. More technically sound wrestlers. Like you said, more opportunities. As technology grew, so did peoples access to learning. I wrestled in 90s and almost nobody did private lessons and 1 camp per summer. Now these kids are doing 6-8. heck I sent my two to Estonia last year and they’re going to Hungary this summer. Kids have it good these days when it comes to opportunities
  17. Yes but TN isn’t beast and could do a much better job to seed state tournaments like northern more advanced states.
  18. Mainly because the average and bad kids don’t want to put in the time and effort it takes to be “good”. The good kids are attending camps, doing privates, lifting, etc. Most kids don’t want to do that.
  19. They need to stop living in the 70s then smh I don’t know of one other state that does that. It’s a joke really.
  20. IMO they should seed based off the same years performance, not what happened the previous year. That’s terrible seeding criteria!!
  21. Yeah someone informed me of that earlier basically saying Mason could be on the same side as the 1 seed, which is bad for the state tournament to have a championship match in the semis instead of the actual finals
  22. What’s crazy is Mason placed at Beast of the East this year and to me, not being snobby, but is worth more than any TN medal. With that said anyone seeding the bracket that puts those two on same side should be fired and they should come up with a new seeding system. Kinda like the way they do the state duals. I grew up wrestling in Michigan and our high school duals tournaments were seeded according to who the best teams were, not what place you got in a region. They need a new seeding system, badly. There are people that actually know wrestling and know these kids pretty good. I’m sure a committee could be put together to see things the way they should be seeded.
