It’s more than just “they will come.” Yes, winning is great, and you can use that as a pivot to get even better and bigger players, which 2 teams in Blount County have used tremendously over the years. When you get really good at it, you can start recruiting little league players so you can cover your tracks, and it doesn’t look like you just grabbed a bunch of people from other zones because you went after them in little league, which 2 schools in Blount County have mastered. I’m not saying it’s wrong if anything, I'm admiring it, but it’s more than “they will just come.”

In 2018 and 2019, they out scored their opponents 975-326. They were pretty feared in 5A, and no one wanted to play them in 2019, so they had to play a team out of Kentucky. So call it what you want, but for the 5A teams, they brought the same fear as playing Powell and West.

Maryville had a down year, now you could definitely call this a “trash” season if you look at their history, but as of right now, it was a down year, and who knows what they could’ve done if Gage LaDue didn’t get hurt.

I’m not gonna get into any of that, but all I’m gonna say is I know the football coach is glad he has them and he has used them over the last few years.

I mean, I doubt it, but then again, his son is the starting quarterback on the football team, so maybe, there was also an athletic director change when Coach Jones was hired, so I really don’t know if it was the old athletic director who hired Coach Jones or the current athletic director because, if I remember correctly, there was no sitting athletic director when Coach Jones was hired, so maybe he had a word in it.

They got Madden Guddfy from Seymour. They were fighting for the starting spot all year. Drew won it. I don’t know why you are acting like Parrot (the qb) is bad. He’s a normal high school QB. He doesn’t have a good arm? OK, I can name many other QB’s that don’t. He is still a good rushing QB and when he gets hot he gets hot in the throwing game, it’s just hard to get those games, but let’s see how his senior year goes before we start throwing stuff like this out.

I’m not bashing him. He’s one of the greatest high school coaches in Tennessee history 250 and 15. I’m pretty sure all time at Maryville in what 17 years and 11 state championships, one of the greatest to ever do it, but all I’m saying is ETSU should’ve never hired him, and especially given him the contract that we did and we’re gonna have to pay off for the next five years.

In the high school level, he can deathly become a head coach unless you’re talking about college then yeah offensive coordinator would probably be best friend not coach, nowhere near a coach, for right now.

I’m not doubting he’s a great guy or a great coach in the high school level but he’s not a coach in the college level and never should’ve been. Our administration went to the lowest ever hiring him. I’m not doubting his high school coaching ability he’s just not a college coach, especially with the talent we had on his rosters. No excuses for that.

What’s the point of being a fan when your administration cant never make the right higher even though we always top-tier players from top-tier schools just need a top-tier coach.

I hate to break it to you, but he was holding his back big time like BIG BIG time especially with the roster he had no reason at all he couldn’t have done something just a shame. Glad to see he’s gone.
