  1. Spectator. As the name implies, I retired a few years ago.
  2. Sweetwater definitely had the better energy. CSAS was sluggish having played a very tough match with Ooltewah last night. Sweetwater should do well in the district - keep up the good work.
  3. CSAS might be a bit slow after playing a hard match at Ooltewah last night.
  4. Is there any reason to expect Central to do better this year? Not a negative comment - just curious if they got some key players that will offset County's size, speed and organization.
  5. CSAS doesn't match up well overall with a school that has the size and speed of Ooltewah but they will benefit because few A-AA teams will be able to bring comparable size and speed to a match. CSAS is playing a decent non-conference schedule this season (RedBank, Soddy, Ooltewah, Baylor, McCallie, Dalton, Murray County, McMinn County) that hopefully will benefit them when it comes to A-AA tournament time. Exciting game to watch, congrats to Ooltewah - they should do really well this season.
  6. Silverdale didn't do too badly last year being as new as they are; but usually it's difficult for new programs to do well against established and well organized teams. Hats off to them for what looks like a solid result against a Sweetwater team that should be in the top 4 of the district. It looks like David Brainerd got a win against Grace - maybe the top 3-4 teams should watch out.
  7. Did Sweetwater lose last night to Silverdale 4-1?
  8. Who does Sweetwater play next week? Don't they have a game with CSAS on Friday?
  9. Boyd looks young and inexperienced having graduated so many from last years team. They'll probably do well in the district but have trouble against the better teams. Good luck to them.
  10. The top 5 teams in the state went to CASL back in December: Team...W/L/D PSA.....2-1-0 MFC.....1-2-0 Lions....1-2-0 Crush...0-1-2 TNFC....0-2-1 Lot's of good players played against some of the best from other states. Draw your own conclusions.
  11. I heard that a few other district teams were going to field soccer teams this spring. Here's the complete list of schools in the district: 21st Century (Chattanooga) Bachman (McDonald) Boyd Buchanan (Chattanooga) Brainerd (Chattanooga) Chattanooga Grace (Chattanooga) Collegedale Copper Basin (Copperhill) CSAS (Chattanooga) David Brainerd (Chattanooga) McMinn Central (Englewood) Meigs County (Decatur) Polk County (Benton) Sequoyah (Madisonville) Silverdale (Chattanooga) Sweetwater Tellico Plains Temple (Chattanooga) Tyner (Chattanooga) The schools possibly adding teams are: Temple, David Brainerd, Brainerd ???
  12. I find it interesting that CSAS isn't ranked in AA/A. Last year they tied McCallie and Notre Dame, lost to Baylor 1-0 on a weak goal in the last minute of the game, beat Boyd, lost to Grace, and beat CCS. I guess the truth will come out at the end of the season.
  13. CCS and ND are now in the same district. They could both make it to the state but still have to contend with the other district. Neither team dominated the rest of the region the last 2 years (ND has just joined the region but they still play the other teams).
  14. Unfortunately the referee is the only one who knows how much stoppage time is added. Many people get caught up in watching stadium clocks or setting their own stop watches - only the referee's judgement is used to determine how much time is wasted on substitutions, balls intentionally kicked out, injuries, etc. It's hard to imagine that the ref still wanted to run up and down the field after 110 minutes - believe me no one wants to blow the whistle more than the ref. Of course, no ref wants to go to PK's either. Did he let it run a little long hoping for the golden goal? You make the call.
