  1. Looks as if all of the other sports are in pretty good shape. Now it's time to right the football ship. Alot of guys coming back next year (over 20) with big men and skill positions stacked.
  2. QB Caldwell, HV (backfield is locked in) ScatBack Townsend, Hampton FB Potter, Hampton OT Hyatt, Eliz (a lock) TE Barnett, Hampton WR Davis, HV (both WRs are locked in) WR Kennedy, Eliz FS Smith, Eliz (a lock and wouldn't doubt that he is Betsy's leading tackler) SS Peters, Eliz (was rock solid on D before injury) DB Garland, HV (a lock) DB Hyder, Eliz MLB Winters, Hampton (a lock) Punt NO DOUBT, if Potter avgs. 49.6 as the above thread says Kickoff ? (but not Eliz.) Punt Return Kennedy, Eliz Watergirl Sportiemom, Unaka Sorry, don't know much about Unaka or Cloudland and really not a whole bunch about Carter Co as a whole. I do not have any doubts on any of my picks though.
  3. Name your offense and defense with as much honesty as possible
  4. Name your team for offense and defense. Be honest now
  5. I'm not so sure that DB can over come Ootlewah. DB was very impressive against my Toppers, but I can only read about the Owls. Hate to go against any locals (and I'll be pulling for DB), but I think the Owls will go home winners. 21-17 Hopefully I'm wrong. Good luck DB!!!
  6. Central 35-14 and taking another step towards the one they are really after, MHS.
  7. Absolutely no disrespect, but I think a Region 1 team will be playing K. Central in the semi's and the winner will lose to a West TN. team (Melrose?). Hopefully I'm wrong on a West team winning out because I'm a East TN. man.
  8. Crazy things happen sometimes. We'll be looking for another 'Holloween Night' in the Atomic City. Hopefully Shoun and company can 'light' things up a bit. The game has to be played and a winner will be determined later tonight. GO TOPPERS!!!!!!!
  9. I'm stuck in the middle with friends on both sides of the ball, but I'll stick with my earlier prediction. Analyze schedules and the mid-season Cow Town surge and you may come up with the same assumption. Everyone wants to see their kids win, but I think Cow Town has taken a much harder road to the playoffs and I think that will make the difference. In any event, who knows? Anything can happen on Friday nights. You never know how kids will react under such pressure which I think is overbrewing in Gray moreso than in the Cyclone camp, where they are more accustomed to this time of year. Much luck to both teams.
  10. Forget the negativeisms Cow Town, there's a new kid in town. I read this morning that South's Phillips was the Press's player of the year in the Mt. Lakes. Well now, just take the games that Smith has started divide his numbers by the games started and multiply it by 10 and you have an identical set of numbers for Smith. Hummmm...... What if he had played QB all year. What kind of record would you Cow Towners have had? Anyway, a great year by Phillips. I'll have to ride with Cow Town on this one, 21-14, but you really never know. Boone is favored by 4, but Cow Town was picked to win by the Press.
  11. I think the Topper's will show well, but I don't think my guys can trully play with OR. It would be a huge upset for the Hilltoppers and it is possible.
  12. I'm sure South's coach will have them prepared, but I look for a much tighter game than what most expect. Mo East is no pushover.
  13. Science Hill, Elizabethton, etc. man, you could go on and on.
  14. Sorry, you won't be able to hit me with "unneccesary roughness", especially after the play. If you do, it will be in the stands at the Science Hill/DB game. My kid is a baseball player and I'm glad we don't have to deal with your kind on the baseball field. If you think back siding people away from a play is what football is about, then you have a coaching problem. Very sad response, but obviously you are not taught the true game of football. What a few of your players do is called hoolaganism. Sad I do want to repeat to you that what I saw was 3-4 of your players hitting people in the back away from any action. If you think that is football=hitting you are wrong. That is a player who should be ejected from games. Atwood should be ashamed of your response if he is any kind of football coach at all.
  15. The Toppers will pass first then run, keeping the DB defense off guard. DBs offense will sputter too much. Toppers 27-21 It will be a very enlighntening pre-playoff game for both teams.
  16. Nice piece of work. After watching the Saturday version of TN High entertaining Johnson County, I would say the Cow Towners had better not turn their backs. Don't know what I mean? The Longhorns roam the field looking for someone who is not looking, whether they are in the play or not. Then they put the horns in your back side. Surely thier coach is aware of this, so it must be condoned. There is no place in sports for people who can't play the game strait up. It must be Coach Atwood's trademark. It got bad when TN High flew by Johnson County. I can't comment on the first half because I wasn't there. Just a word to the wise, keep an eye out for the guys who like to hit from the back side. Cow Town, I guess it will be called an upset?? Cow Towners 27-22
  17. I was rudely told that I had forgotten Nat Scott of SH. Well, I didn't. He'll probably be an All State prospect next year and has come close on defense this year. He is very valuable on offense as well, but not the status on either side of the ball that this thread is about. Not this year. Another grip I got was Preston Smith on my list as a Junior. At FS, I would think he is probably the leading tackler for the Cow Town boys. He is legit and next year he could very well be on the list on both sides of the ball. Tough kid who can play. With a little more size before next year maybe DI, but probabaly DII.
  18. SORRY, I really don't think you have 6 or so All State candidates. Who are your top three?
  19. I'm not sure about the game situations, but I think your 1, 2 ,3, 4 are correct. I also think at this time of the year that any of these teams could beat the other. Pretty even conference at this time.
  20. Toss up. Depends on which team shows up on each side of the field. Both teams have been a picture of inconsistancy all season. Toss up
  21. I take offense to that remark. I agree, DB will come out on top, but by maybe 2TDS. The SH/DB game will be a good one this year. May just be SHs year.
  22. Wrong. SH is more than prepared for this one. Forney will have a great game which will open up the passing game. Toppers 20-14
  23. The Cow Towners have found out how to win. Just keep doing what you've been doing the last 2-3 games. You have found a leader on the field. Cyclones 35-14
  24. To start with you need a good youth program and then get that bunch of guys out of the stands to come out and play. You guys have a whole team sitting and watching every year. Come out and support your team by playing.
  25. Cow Town is what 4A is about in this area. Them, TN High, etc. Man would it kill many traditions for them to step down to 3A. It's certainly tough, but the Cow Towners seem to get the job done consistantly. STAY PUT!!! By the way, I told you guys after the SH game that the KID was the stuff. Now he has had his chance and proven that he is one of the top signal callers this side of Knoxville. Duhhhhhhhhhhh on the coaches for not giving him the show last year, but good for us they didn't. TOPPERS RULE
