She was a good leader. Their shortstop last year , who also a catcher is also out with an ACL injury that will keep her out or limited most of the season. They still have Lauren , a sophmore pitcher, and Holly and Brittney, junior infielders, but I dont know how much else. They do have a great coach, so they will do fine.
  3. I know Brentwood High school was listed at one time as being one of the top academic public schools in the state, but that does not mean they are better than any other school academically or otherwise. I do know I have not read or heard anything about Blackman High being ranked 14th in the nation. I think I would have read about it in the Tennessean if it was. Maybe it is 14th in something else or in one small, specific area, but not overall academically. All I have seen are the average ACT scores coming out of schools, and all Rutherford county schools are about the same. Of course one school may offer one or two different classes than another in the same county but basically, because of equality and fairness, these tend to be close to same too. I think all Rutherford county schools are good, their standerized scores always have been the highest in the state along with Williamson county.
  4. I think Riverdales softball team probably has the same thing going on as Brentwood does. Brentwood has 4 excellent pitchers in the lineup. It is really intimidating to a young freshman pitcher coming up that wants time. Riverdale also has one tremendous ace. My guess is that the young lady decided to go where they needed a pitcher, Blackman. Of course , I dont know and it really none of my business, but it couldnt be the education factor as the scores of students that leave both schools are identical. Well, the best of luck to both schools. I am really glad you are happy with your new coach , blazin speed.
  5. Mcknight park, starplex, Oakland, Siegel, Riverdale and Blackman, all excellent complexes, also dont forget Fly park, down the street in Franklin. Fly park has 6 fields and connected onto it is Trinity park which has 3 fields, all at the same complex, right off I-65 and I-840. Tons of hotels. Excellent fields. Lots of warm up space.
  6. Against good teams, I too didnt see or hear about very many K's per game, I did see a lot of great plays. Of course that doesnt mean she isnt a good pitcher, but I will say if Red bank loses any of thier defensive power next year she wont fare as well.
  7. Goodpasture has this game. I dont see any homeruns or good hits either. The young power hitter and her team mates will not do well against excellent pitching , they just havent seen it enough. Nothing against CA or the girls on the team . Good luck to them anyway.
  8. No, I am sure you are not a bad kid. Just think before you act. Being a "Senior Class President, Yearbook editor, and newspaper sports editor", carrys with it a huge responsibility. You have a lot of kids looking up to you. Strange as it may seem, a lot of them look to you to set standards on what is acceptable.
  9. I think Shelby Burchal, a freshman from Columbia Acadamy, has 18 this year. I believe I read that earlier on coach T. I dont know if it is an accurate number or not.
  10. The coach doesnt need to apologize! If I was coach I would have put in Harmon or Riley. They are BOTH good pitchers and perfectly capable of pitching a great game! Their record shows it. Wasnt Riley the pitcher who beat Goodpasture? Harmon is excellent too. There is not enough difference between the three. Their coach isnt guilty of not pitching the ace, the coach has three aces. The coach also has a great team. Sometimes teams are not on.
  11. Ever heard hind sight is always 20/20. It takes a good 15-20 min. at least to warm up a pitcher otherwise you risk injury to the pitcher and besides that without all of her pitches warmed up a pitcher is batting practice. Was Lott even warmed up? Riley in the past has always done a good job. All of the activity happened in one inning. Look, coaches like Brentwood's coach do a good job. They work hard for little pay and dont deserve to be let down by their fans when something like this happens. Was the coach wrong ? Probably, but Brentwood will be back next year and I am sure they will with a couple of other teams dominate.
  12. I agree. I dont think there is an ace on Brentwoods team either. It really depends on who is on. The coach did not start the number three pitcher, Harmon started. She is a good pitcher as is Mashburn. I have seen them all be equally successful and unsuccessful at times. Brentwoods strength this year has always been the combination of the three, not just one pitcher. I cant really say one has been favored more than another for the more difficult games either. It is too bad they lost they are a good team. One of the best in the state.
  13. I would add Katie , the shortstop from Brentwood, junior. She and Lindsey would be my picks from Brentwood.
  14. Baylor is pretty good. I dont think anybody in Middle Tennessee has beaten them, have they?
  15. Grow up? You need to take a chill pill. Relax, and dont get so bent out of shape.
  16. My goodness, after every win do you just have to rub the other teams nose in it? Winning graciously, is a great thing. I mean for days and days before every game you play we hear about it, afterwards for days and days we hear about cuts and putdowns of the other team. Please, please, please , can you stop?

    Title 9

If they want a facility "just for baseball" why dont they buy a piece of land and put it there. Once they put it on school property it should be able to be used for all.

    Title 9

If you go back to the sixties and seventies there were few opportunities for girls to play any sport. Boys had T ball and baseball, football, and basketball leagues from the age of six. The girls were not allowed to play on these teams and there were no teams for them to play on. In Nashville the only sports program for young girls I was aware of was softball at age ten and church basketball that started at the junior high school or high school age level. Of course there was cheerleading , for all the boys teams. Other teams may have existed somewhere but the opportunities were few and far between. There were no middle school or high school softball teams until after Title IX. In other sports, the girls high school teams that did exist were underfunded. Facilities were minimal and /or they used left over fields in poor shape or used courts when there was open time. Very few college scholarships were offered as compared to now. Title IX was and continues to be important. Having "boys only" facilities on school property without adequate facilities for girls is not only wrong it is against the law and needs to be stopped. Phil Davidson, whoever you are, you need to be patted on the back for helping Hixson. way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw one ball that was hit that the siegel center fielder had to put her back on the fence to catch. Another 6 inches and it would have been out of there. Good thing for siegel it was a tall fence and the wind was blowing in.
  20. Is it true? Did Soddy lose to Lincoln County????? Details anybody?!?!
  21. These remarks are really rude and on top of that just plain silly. Please delete , you really should have not repeat malicous gossip.
  22. The tournament was exciting. Riley Mashburn pitched a excellent game against Goodpasture. Being only a freshman she has a promising future. Bailee Lott started the game against Riverdale, ran into a little trouble and Riley came in to close. Falon started the game for Riverdale. Ater several great hits from Brentwood and 2 runs in the first couple of innings, Cathleen Hosfield came in for Riverdale with the score 2 to 1. She pitched for the next six innings without a hit from Brentwood. With the score tied 2 to 2 we went into the tiebreaker. Brentwood bunted for the first out , the runner advanced to third. The next batter popped up to the shortstop who tagged third catching the runner off base for a double play. Riley struck out the first batter but Jennifer Edwards, the catcher for Riverdale, hit the ball into right field to score the runner. Final score: Riverdale 3 Brentwood 2
