Like you said, Davidson is very young. With their lack of experience at the plate, there are likely to be very few high-scoring games, at least not on their part, but if the upperclassmen stay consistent and the younger players put together some hits every now and then, they may be able to put some runs on the board, especially against 1A pitching. Defensively, they are strong in most positions, including outfield, catching, and third base, but the middle of the infield and first are sketchy. If they can gain some consistency out of these weak spots, then they will be able to help their pitching out a little bit, but as of yet, these have yet to prove themselves. Pertaining to pitching, they are short-handed and will depend greatly on only two returning pitchers, both upperclassmen, and a number of new arms who will get plenty of playing time early on.
If they can find some stability in these weak points, then Davidson can put together some wins. But some of these problems, particularly the defense, make the Bears quite vulnerable to defeat, as the offense is often unable to close multiple run deficits.
In preseason play, they did not fare well against their opponents. However, many of these teams were large 3A schools, including Riverdale, Beech, and Hendersonville. When it comes down to the competition they will likely be facing among District 10A and other 1A opponents, they will be much more competitive and, if the bats pick up and the defense gets better, fairly strong.
