Congrats to the Ridgeway Roadrunners on making it the State semifinals. They had not been ranked high in any of the polls all year. Ranked 30th on a poll on coacht, the Roadrunners showed that they can truely play. Making it further than any team from the west,(except CBHS) even top ranked Houston, the Roadrunners amazed the entire state. The Roadrunners played an amazing semifinal game against Bearden and came up short handed. Congrats Ridgeway!!!!

Looking at the brackets, I'd say these teams will make it to the quarterfinals: Houston vs Hendersonville Riverdale vs Science Hill Brentwood vs Bearden Ridgeway vs McMinn County or Ooltewah Just a prediction

Tomorrow's games Ridgeway vs Collierville White Station vs Houston

I think it will be Brentwood versus Germantown and Bearden versus Hendersonville in the Semifinals. And Hendersonville beating Brentwood in the finals.

Houston and Germantown play Wednesday for the Region championship. The winner plays the 2nd place team in Region 7. The loser plays the region 7 champions, probably Cordova.

I dont exactly know the order of the tournament in the region, but i know it has a few less games than other regions. Can someone else from region 8 tell us why it is different.

Yea the tournament in region 8 is kinda strange. I think it is due to the lack of team in district 16 of the region. But there are also some factors that make it so different that I am unaware of. So the region 8 semifinals were tonight. Houston beat Collierville, Germantown beat Ridgeway. Houston will play Germantown within the next week for the Region 8 champoinship

Ridgeway did not get beat by White Station. Ridgeway won 5-0. Germantown beat Ridgeway tonight in a shootout. Germantown will play houston or Collierville for the region 8 champoinship

WHAT a great game Thursday night between Germantown and Ridgeway. Both teams came in pumped up and the game ended up lasting over 2 hours. In the first ten minutes, Germantown scored on a Ridgeway defensive break down. The score was 1-0 at the end of the half. In the second half ridgeway scored two great goals to put them up by one. At the end of the half Germantown answered back with a goal off a corner kick. The game was tied at the end of regulation 2-2. Moving into two ten minute periods(not golden goal), Germantown scored quickly putting them up by one. In the second period Ridgeway answered back with yet another goal. Tied 3-3 at the end of the second 10 minute period. After no goals in the next two five minute golden goal periods it came down to a shootout. In their first shots on goal Ridgeway and Germantown both missed. Both teams made their next two goals. On the forth shot Ridgeway missed and Germantown scored. Germantown then made their 5th goal, ending the long game. Sometimes it is a shame that games are determined by the shootout, but thats how it goes. The game was played in 95 degree heat. Both teams played great. Good luck to Germantown as you take on Houston/Collierville. Better luck to Ridgeway next season
