  1. Well said, you can't go wrong with any of them.
  2. Spencer is a great HS back. I don't think anyone who knows or has seen him play would root against him for going D1. But if history is any indication he will not. I'm sure the Oak Ridge fans will be talking about him for years to come, but being a long time Oak Ridge fan, having great RB is not the exception but the rule. If you take the top 4 rushers only one of them made it to D1 as a running back. Cory Booker - Tusclum - Athlete Shawn Summers - Tennessee - DB Shaun Bohanon - Alabama - RB Shawn Williams - NEO Junior College - RB, I do think that Spencer could play at a lot of D1 players as a strong safety type. After watching him play at Middle school and high school, I do think he has the heart, and determination, but for all that think that is enough then your kidding yourself. We all have our favorites and wished them the best, as an Oak Ridge fan, I just hope the next player will come along and break Spencers records and lead us to a State Championship.
  3. Not meant to be a personal attack. You say they are not a one man team, but then you turn around and single them (or Nick) by saying they he did a good job, and basically Oak Ridge ran around him by using the toss sweep. I'm just saying the Farragut defense didn't do a great job, including the Reveiz's. Having your arms around someone is one thing, tackling him is another. I don't think any of them did a good job of that Friday. Farragut is a good time, and has the potential to go far in the playoffs. I agree with ORidgeKat, that Farragut and their fans showd a lot of class after the defeat. I was impressed with their running backs. I hear Sterling is just a sophmore, and could be a thorn is Oak Ridge's side for two more years.
  4. That would be hard to argue, but I'd have to give Shawn Summers the nod myself. I'd put Shawn as 1 and Spencer at 1A. I think both of these were similar type players, the only thing that separates them at this point is Shawn led his team to the state championship. I'm hoping Spencer can do the same for us this year. I don't think he will have the size and speed big time programs will look at as far as being a RB, but I think he would be a great SS from some school. He would be me vote for Mr. 5A football, but that's being biased because we get to see him every Friday.
  5. Rigger101, what is your fascination with the Reviez boys? How can Gulmire run for 352 yard against the defense you you act like it was everyones fault but the Reviez boys. I didn't know that middle linebackers couldn't make tackles when it was a toss sweep. Especially when Gulmire used the cutback a lot. I guess your excuse for him on the ISO plays was he got blocked. Well if you didn't knowm, that is what happens to linebackers, they get blocked, get off of them, and make tackles. I'm not saying that the Reviez is not good player, but don't short change Farragut by saying the defense played bad but not the Reviez. He's supposed to be the leader of it. It hasn't stopped him from popping off at the mouth, both last year and this year. Problem is he hasn't been able to back it up. I don't remember him having his named called a lot during those games. One last thing, go back and look at the 93 yard td and watch 45 chasing Spencer down the sideline. He had the angle on both Specencer and the blocker. He chose to put a shoulder into the blocker, taking himself out of the play. Looks like more self preservation then selling out for the team!
  6. After tonight, If I was Farraguts coach I would put a gag order on my team. I guess they didn't learn there lesson from last year, when they talked about how they should have one the regular season game and got 48 posted on them in the playoffs.
  7. You must have not read the Oak Ridger today. Farragut has two good running backs, one has rushed for over 900 yds and the other 800 yds. Sounds like a strong running game to me. I think Oak Ridge will be up to the challenge, though. We should be in for a good game.
  8. If Oak Ridge and Riverdale meet, it would be in the 4th round not the state finals. This should be a great game. Besides winning the district, I think that both teams have something to prove. Oak Ridge wants to rebound from last week, and Farragut, needs some redemption from the drubbing they suffered in last years playoff game after popping off at the mouth on how they should have beaten Oak Ridge in the regular season game. In the end I think Oak Ridge wins this one.
  9. My point is this was a post for Central vs. Clinton Football, but because of ollie's obsession with Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge got pulled into it. And yes they did make it to the state, but even that year they were 1-1 against Oak Ridge, so again, if basketball is there saving grace against Oak Ridge then they still don't do that well. But back to the subject, sorry for hijacking this post, this is was supposed to be about the football game, not Ollie's obsession with Oak Ridge or Basketball. Central will use this game to sharpen there offense so they can get ready for the playoffs. They game will be over mid-way through the 2nd quarter.
  10. They didn't even do that well last year since they lost 3 out of 5 and sat at home while Oak Ridge went to the State Tournement. He might need to get his head checked out, the man seems to be obsessed with Oak Ridge. It's sad that he's thinks about Oak Ridge in a Central vs Clinton topic.
  11. Are those the true passing stats. Just wondering. I've seen stats like that before and if you really look at it, the QB threw a screen and the receiver took it for 50ydsm, but he is credited with a 50 yd td pass. Just wondering, I saw that some were trying to make the comparison to Z. Helton.
  12. Yeah, but how many of those predicating this were Owl fans. You can predict a lot of things, but like the old saying goes, that's why we play the game.
  13. My vote would have to go to Riverdale until someone knocks them off.
  14. BigCJones40, Just shows your intelligence and backs my point, because if I remember correctly he did win a state championship after Anderson. And if Anderson is your measuring stick, ask him who helped him get to UT. I bet it wasn't Glasper. He's a good coach period. I already said that there where many factors that contribute to the records, but if you where here when all this was going on, you would have thought that Oak Ridge would go 0-10 with Stevens. As far as choking, I guess that means for the last 14 years all the other Oak Ridge coaches have chocked, because 91 was that last State Championship.
  15. The Wildcat Nations seems to be happy right now, but this was very different when they were selecting a coach. I thought it would be interesting to show a tally of the records of the three finalist up to this point. And yes I realize there are many factors that contribute to those records, but it's still interesting. Stevens 6-0 Gaddis 5-2 Bibee 3-3
  16. Everybody keeps pointing to the weapons on offense, but this game will come down to which defense will rise to the occasion. On paper you would have to go with Oak Ridge's defense, but they haven't played the caliber of teams that WB has. He better become a defensive mastermind. The last two games that Meadows has coached against Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge has put up 92pts. while his team has only put up 39pts, with much of that coming on with subs in game game after it had been long decided. I'm sure coach Stevens knows that WB has the weapons to win, but I think he will have the defense up to the challenge and Oak Ridge will win by 2 touchdowns.
  17. If you went by championships you would have to go with the 1958 because of the nation title, but a lot of us weren't even a thought in our parents eyes in 1958. I would say for me the 1991 team lead by Shawn Summers.
  18. Yeah, like they did last year. Opps! I forgot Clinton sat home will O.R. played in the State.
  19. The closest AC will see 75 is the 45 the got put on them against Webb. The will win but it will be close. Don't forget AC. They've been woofing the same thing.
  20. Okay, I was under the impression that he did have a change of address. May be some AE fan can clear this up.
  21. Polls are for peaking interest, they mean nothing, except for the NCAA. It won't matter what you are ranked when the playoffs get here, if your season ends with a loss.
  22. I was reading the Article on the main page about a girl transferring from Columbia to Shelbyville. The reason that it stated was due to a falling out with coaches and teamates. If so, would this not be a transfer athletic purposes. It will be interesting to see how the TSSAA rules on this since they denied the request for the kid at AE.
