I agree, the flight of the ball could have caused the catcher to adjust her stance. It appears that the ball beat the runner to the plate, the runner should not have been called safe by obstruction. The decision to slide or not to slide should have no bearing on the call.

I will agree with you that most teams in the West "just do not have it". Talent is thin in the West but TCA and SBEC have a good chance to take home a trophy in May, and St. Benedict could also make a run.

Birdie has a good point. Take TCA, Covington and St. Benedict out (7-6 in the 2008 tournament), the other five teams were 2-12 between the white lines. Huntington and Martin Westview each won one game.

The TSSAA is having a changing of the guard this summer. Might be a good time to propose the move to fall. I guess we could start with our school's Athletic Directors. Any idea's?

They will always use the excuse that Nashville is in the middle of the state. It will be hard to get the TSSAA to rotate the tournament, so I will be heading up I-40 Thursday with the rest of the West TN. gang.

We actually played Friday night in another division and had kept our rooms for a possible Saturday game. We were not going to drive back Friday night anyway. I don't think there is a right or wrong on this issue. It does appear that there are fans from both Trinity and Forrest that do not like each other. The Boro will be buzzing if these teams square off again at state. Rivalries like this one are good for the sport as long as the fans keep it clean.

I am hoping for a Forrest vs. TCA state championship game repeat. Looks like we have a bona fide rivalry going here.
