  1. It is listed on the schedule that Goodpasture and CAK played tonight. I guess from the talk of some on this board, CAK must have dominated Goodpasture. Does anybody know a score?
  2. Just to add calrification to this discussion regarding Grace Academy, there are two. Grace Christian Academy 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, 37931 Phone: 865.691.3427 Grades K-12 They are not a TSSAA member school.
  3. And just to further clarify the "Grace" confusion, this is off of a Knoxville website. Grace Christian Academy 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, 37931 Phone: 865.691.3427 Grades K-12
  4. There are two Grace Baptist schools. The one in Chattanooga got beaten in overtime by Temple tonight. They are a good team.
  5. I thought that Dansby was the star for Harpeth. What did he do?
  6. That sounds like a good game and an upset. Didn't Harpeth beat Stratford at the start of the year? Looks like a good win for the Eagles.
  7. I saw that Friendship won, which surprised me a little. Does anybody have any details? I know that they have a great PG at Friendship, Ryan Gaines, but don't know any of the other players.
  8. One reason for leaving Ezell Harding - Chris Burnette. Check out posts from the years he lost the state with AJ Blackburn, Julian Terrell, Antoine Owens, Austin Henderson, JP Shelley and others. Major talent and a guy that couldn't coach in Junior Pro. If Ramsey hadn't been wrongly fired, they would have three gold balls at Ezell. I hear that Burnette was moved to the middle school boys and girls teams, and players are already quitting. Maybe they'll move him to the kindergarten team next year.
  9. How did he break his foot? Also, did he go to MBA? If so, when did he leave there? As for a class individual, you must first lose with class, and if anyone saw the CPA game, he didn't do that.
  10. Big 48, I have no dog in this fight, and was only making observations of the game. The way that NCS went up, I thought that they would win by 25. They shut down any "big man" game of Ezell, and have a coach that is a hall of fame coach. It has been proven by a few teams locally, especially in single A that a coach can make a difference. I have never seen fans as touchy as this group of NCS fans. Quit being so defensive. This is high school basketball and just a game.
  11. I don't know about any team in 9-A or 10-A. If NCS is the strongest and DCA and CPA are top tens, then either someone in the East or West will win the state. I think that GOodpasture is the strongest in 9-A, followed by who knows. I don't know if NCS has competition. I also think that Temple should be in the top 5.
  12. I saw the Ezell game, and yes, he did hit five three pointers in the first quarter. He ended up with 15 points. The key to Ezell shutting him down was that they put a defender on him that stuck to him like glue, and he is not reall a great ball handler. Not much of a penatrator. He does, however, shoot a pure shot from 30 feet in. He wasn't as bad as the other Anderson, the skinny one, that throws those elbows around, not in a sportsmanlike fashion, but to the head. A referee should warn him about that before someone gets hurt.
  13. Sort of an ugly game. Anderson (#30) started out hitting 4 3's in a row and NCS went up by double figures in the 1st quarter. Every time that Ezell got close, they would miss an easy shot and just not have one fall. When Ezell finally changed defenders on Anderson, it pretty much shut him down. NCS plays with an attitude and confidence. Also, with all the height that Ezell had, they couldn't capitalize. Good game. Good effort by both teams.
  14. Good luck in your future endeavors.
  15. Lackey has been there probably since 1st grade. He has grown up to about 6'6" or 6'7", and from what I understand from some friends close to the program was not Burnette's favorite. He had some double digit games last year, and then would sit most of the next game. The other kid was a transfer from Overton last year that didn't get a whole lot of play. Duke (who came from Lighthouse about 3 years ago) played a lot even when the seniors came back as well as Burnette. He is a very good 3 point shooter. I think a lot will boil down to adjustments on Ezell's side. Coaching makes a difference, and coach Anderson has proven to be one of the best in Tennessee, high school or college. Piercy is a major improvement over Ezell not having a coach since Ramsey was there. Should be a good game.
  16. With NCS winning the first game, and with Ezell looking like they've hit their stride with their two big men, who do you think will win? In the first game, I believe that NCS hit about a dozen threes. Is there any way to stop this or is their screening and movement to get the open shot too much for Ezell? I am going to go out on a limb and predict that Ezell wins by 4 at home.
  17. Thanks FCpress for the information. I had spoken to one of the coaches that has an AAU team, the Music City Warriors, at a tournament this year and he was very positive about the talent at College Heights. I read that they have one player that has commited to MTSU, so he must be a very good talent. How did CH do against the Goodpasture "Twin Towers" and what was the final score?
  18. I don't know if this has been said, but Jason was Presley Ramsey's assitant in 98 when they won the state. He should have been named the head coach after Ramsey got let go. Of course, letting coach Ramsey go was the biggest mistake that Ezell has made in their athletic history. I understand that the improvement has been remarkable in attitudes of the players from Burnett to Piercy. From what I hear and have seen, a trained seal would have been an improvement over Burnett! Ezell should do well this year with the athletes that they have.
  19. I have seen some of the scores of the College Heights team, and it looks like they have had a rough time against pretty much everybody in this area, but seemed to do ok in their tournament. I guess that both DCA and BGA beat them. How did their game with Goodpasture go? In an artcle that I read from the Gallatin newspaper, HoopsUSA had them in the top 25 of "prep" schools, defined as schools with fifth year players. I thought that they were trying to get into the TSSAA.
  20. Jamont is an excellent talent. His numbers are huge this year, and as only a sophomore, he should be able to get some Division I attention if he can make the grades. There is not a better player in Nashville.
  21. Do you think that coaching is the biggest difference in 9A and 10A? With Charlie Anderson at NCS they really improved last year, and with Presley Ramsey at DCA, they seem to have played above their talent. Will the coaching change at Ezell make a difference in how they finish, since they actually have a coach now? Who do you think the top five players in 9A and 10A are for this year.
  22. The Tuesday Nashville City Paper listed their picks for the District 9A and 10A for this year. Their predictions are as follows. District 9A 1. Goodpasture 2. FRA 3. DCA 4. Ezell Harding 5. CPA 6. Montessori District 10A 1. Nashville Christian 2. Davidson Academy 3. McEwen 4. Houston County 5. Jo Byrns 6. East Robertson 7. White House 8. Clarksville Academy Will there be any surprises this year, or does everyone think that this is the way is it will fall?
  23. I am honored that Coach Pack is my sons coach. He has shown nothing but class and extremely high character in this matter and all season. This is a life lesson to these young men, as well as everyone involved with CPA, that will stay with us for our entire lives as a true example of integrity. If it weren't for Coach Pack's unselfish attitude by getting as many players in games as he could, there wouldn't be any problems. Go Lions!
  24. The time left was 90 seconds in the game - Why not punt?
