  1. Goodpasture's coach showed a lot of class tonight. Too bad it was all low. 4th quarter, up 19-0, 4th down on the CPA 40, throw a bomb for a touchdown. Wow, what a show of poor sportsmanship.
  2. Reggie Edwards? What about Aaron Duke for Mottep? I think that anyone in the state would rather have him than some of the players that you mentioned.
  3. Are the 15-0 scores that the Midstate Ballerz had forfeits. I thought that they were going to contend for the National title with the Delk twins and all of the talent that they had. I thought that I read one post that said they were only playing with 5 players, though. Why? I saw a lot of talent that didn't end up going to past the state that could compete. Overall, though, it looks like Tennessee was represented well.
  4. Is that the Thunder Select 16's playing in the 17's? I thought that the Thunder only had one 17 team, and three of them played on the Thunder 16 year old "B" team at DCA this weekend.
  5. Does anyone know how the Nashville teams are doing at the 17U AAU State in Memphis this weekend? If so, please post some of the results.
  6. The Music City Classic will be held in Lavergne, TN April 18-20 for boys ages 14U to 17U. Contact Jerry Lenox @ 255-1653 or 948-4102.
  7. If you are interested in playing, then e-mail. This is a team that will travel out of state.
  8. Looking for one more power forward or center for AAU travel team based in middle Tennessee. No more guards needed. If you think you might fit, e-mail hobman@bellsouth.net by Wednesday
  9. Two more players needed for 10th grade AAU travel team. Team plays out of state tournaments as well as in state. Team based in Nashville. Forwards or Centers needed. If interested, contact knealbla@lycos.com with your contact information. Nike Tournament in Louisville next weekend.
  10. What you gonna say next MC80. Ezell beat both. Gosh, when did Moore County beat Ezell last?
  11. For a good laugh, read the verbatim statements in the Tennessean today from Nolan Richardson III and Hosea Lewis. In small print at the top of the article it says that the statements are hand written from the coaches.
  12. Putting together our 16u/10th grade boys AAU/Travel tournament team for 2003. Tryouts and practices will begin in February, and tournament play will begin in March. This team is based in Nashville and will practice in the Nashville area. If you are interested, e-mail hobman@bellsouth.net.
  13. Moore County 6th and Ezell Harding not ranked? If anything, Ezell should occupy a spot in the top ten.
  14. I would love to see AJ, Antoine and Austin playing this year. I think that they would win the district, and go far in the state, but that is not going to happen, so you play with what you've got. In 1999, it was a talented group with Julian, Eric, JP, Antoine, AJ and Austin as well as a few others. They developed into a very good team, though I believe they had to forfeit some games to an eligibility question. In '00 and '01, they finished second in the State, now with JP, Eric and Julian gone, the others don't want to play. The running remark had nothing to do with them, it was another player.
  15. Great response. I'm sure that if Ezell, USJ, DCA or any other private school had won, the same would have been said. If you're from outside of Nashville, stop by Ezell-Harding on Bell Road the next time through and look at the luxurious fieldhouse and facilities. I'm sure that is what attracts players.
  16. Why does the coach schedule games if players aren't going to be there?
  17. Investigation? I know that there are players that already regret not playing. One year, two years, five years down the road, probably all will regret not playing their senior season. Right now there will be losses, probably a lot of losses, but there is some very good young talent there, so don't worry yourself about an investigation, Columbo. Better to have players that want to play than ones that try out and make the team only to quit because they don't like to run!
  18. As I said, I don't think that Tommy Frensley has resurfaced anywhere, but with Burnette also being the AD, I don't think he'll be anxious to recommend getting rid of himself. A coach is also supposed to tighten the reigns when players get out of hand, and he didn't do that last year. He let the players and their parents call the shots. There was no discipline and that is truly what cost them a state championship.
  19. Is Tommy Frensley back to coaching anywhere since he left DCA? He, like Charlie Anderson, is one of the best coaches that Nashville has ever seen.
  20. Brandon is a very good player, and well recruited by BA. BA should do well this year with Dunlap and Brandon, it will be a very tall order under the basket. Is King a senior?
  21. It should be an interesting and fun year for Ezell basketball, and I don't think there will be any great expectations. There is talent, though it is young and there is not a lot of height. I agree with Wizard about good attitudes, and that is what they have this year. As for 10 or 11 players quitting the past two years, the numbers are much smaller than that.
  22. Let's see - Ezell is 1-A team and Page is a 2-A team. Ezell lost two players that went to schools on scholarships, and did not have a deep bench last year. I think your over-rated comment is uncalled for, because I don't think that expectations were extremely high this year, or that anyone thought Ezell would be as good as last year. Don't worry, they'll win their share of games this season, with a great coach and very determined players.
  23. What does playing basketball have to do with their education?
  24. I only went to the last game to see the Oak Hill "B" Team play Central Park out of Alabama. Central Park was pretty good with the big center and the Grizzard kid and a few others. If you look at their schedule, it's mostly the home school teams and the military type prep school teams. I guess that College Heights can offer national competition to players that TSSAA schools can't. No TSSAA school or any team in VA can play Oak Hill. They feel that they "steal" away their top players i.e. Slay, Mercer, Reynolds and others that have played for them. It is really amazing the number of home school and prep school teams around that play full schedules but no TSSAA teams. A lot of those players get scholarships, so I guess it doesn't hurt them to not be affiliated with the oh mighty TSSAA. If College Heights can offer a good education and good competition for their players, so what. I had never heard of them till this past weekend. [Edited by sportsfan101 on 11-26-02 4:41P]
