  1. So let me get this straight; you went to a pre-season jamboree which included teams like Farragut and Oak Ridge and came away thinking Chuckey Doak was the team which demonstrated to all the others the right way to play soccer. Is that what you are saying? If so, I respectfully decline your offer of coaching help.
  2. I know a little bit about Greeneville soccer... and I know her father.
  3. Greeneville has an awesome crop of Freshman (about 14 girls). 5 have started several games. Caroline Lodge is a forward to watch. They also have a Freshman goalie on the bench - Alyssa Crum - she is big, quick and fearless when coming out. She would be a starter on most other teams but GV has an excellent Junior GK in Anna Stroud.
  4. Patience Leonard is not a newcomer - she made All-State as a Sophmore. She is tough, never gives up and rarely makes a mistake. I believe several D1 schools are trying to sign her.
  5. I'm assuming "woodeng" who joined CoachT today is a Chuckey Doak fan or player... but I'll bite. Chuckey-Doak is the 2nd largest AA sized school located in Greene County (Greeneville is the largest but plays up to AAA) approx 3 miles from Greeneville. Actually several of the girls played on Greeneville Galaxy (Tiffany Brown from last year; Dingus and Adams on the current team to name a few). All their players have had the opportunity to play on the several Galaxy teams. I'm not exactly sure what "played it the right way" means (actually I do - look up some of the posts from the 2005 States-semi game against FRA to find out) but would love to hear woodeng's explanation. My feeling is they are flying high after beating winless South Greene 7-0 Tuesday night.
  6. Reviewing the schedule it looks like Farragut's first two games of the Tourny were against weak teams. I would think they could win both with minimal output by their starters thereby saving them for the tougher games against Houston and Collierville.
  7. Tori Hadjapolous - Greeneville's 4 year starting GK - is the starting keeper at Tusculum as a Freshman.

    AAA 2007

That's an interesting assesment - you rest your starters for the first half of a game played in 95 degree heat and then bring them in fresh to play against players who have already played a half; you are pretty much "given" 1 of your goals; lose by one and then declare you dominated play. Talk about spin.
  9. Hey, BigG, how about this: Vital goes to ETSU, Castainca moves to Carson Newman, we get rid of the athletic director at Tusculum and you take the position at Tusculum. Sounds like a great fit for everyone. Ilovethis game: what will happen to the guys on the team for next year. Any word?
  10. I only know what I have read. Tusculum is looking for a new head coach. Sounds like Ilovethisgame has more info on the subject. ETSU is hiring a head coach for their new men's D1 program to start next year. The position is on their web site.
  11. Greeneville's Melanie Webb - Region 1 offensive player of the year and getting ready to sign with Tusculum - she is missing from your list.
  12. The Knoxville version reads pretty much the same (see my earlier post). It was a great game - great defense in the scoreless 1st half and LOTS of offense in the 2nd half. Props to Bearden. They played two exhaustive games prior to this one and still looked formitable. Greeneville runs the trap alot and does it well but you put your faith in the refs getting it right. Unfortunately, they are usually over weight, out of shape middle aged guys who think they can keep up with these athletic girls and they can't.

  14. The Knoxville news has an interesting account of "The Call". http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/preps_girls_so...5102279,00.html Greeneville Sun version: http://greene.xtn.net/index.php?template=n...p;newsid=134693
  15. Congrats to Greeneville's Lady Devils. You had a school history making season and should be proud of your accomplishment this year. Greeneville loses only three (albeit very important) Seniors from this year's squad so I suspect they will be pretty good next year. For a AA sized school (about 800 students) that plays up to AAA from a town of 15,000 - You played right up there with the "Big Dogs" and did us proud.
  16. Greeneville has several Sophmore and Freshman who start or take turns starting MF/Fwd - Hannah Abelson - starter - Soph - she is big, aggressive and a rocket for a leg Aly Carrino - striker and occasional starter - Soph - just coming off ACL repair - 9 goals as a Frosh and 5 goals last several games since being released to play - small but very fast Emily Freeman - MF - Soph starter - sister of All-State MF Stephanie Freeman from a few years ago. Kristin Leng - Soph - starter on defense. Katie Lamons - Freshman - occasional starter on defense - also small but fearless Katie Anderson - Freshman striker - 8 goals coming off the bench GV also has an excellent crop of 8th graders (about 12) coming in next year all with traveling experience and will only be losing 3 Seniors so it looks good for awhile.
  17. BigG - thanks for the the reply. I've been on both sides of the fence and neither is comfortable.
  18. Some JV teams are better than some other team's varsity. So what happens when the varsity squad scores a quick 6 and the JV players who never get a chance to play come in, play to impress the coach, mom and dad, etc and continue the seige. Is it fair to those JV girls to tell them not to play their hearts out when it may be the only time they get to play all year?
  19. Just about every team from 1-13 has won, lost or tied each other. I think it is parity in AAA not poor soccer and it is making for a very exciting season. Also I stated on another thread I didn't think Oak Ridge deserved to drop that far down because of a 1 goal loss to DB this past weekend. We played both teams this weekend and Oak Ridge is certainly the better team.
  20. I didn't see the game but I spoke to some OR fans and they said DB had 14 on the field the entire game - something about home town advantage. Having played both OR and DB this past weekend I'd say Oak Ridge is a much better team and probably don't deserve the fall they took in the week 7 poll.
  21. I think the orginal poster is well aware of the above. Thanks for stating the obvious. What he or she was referring to was why a team would be ranked so high considering they have such a soft schedule. The only reason Morristown West is in there is because they beat Greeneville. MW has played teams with a combined total of 29-40-7. GV has played teams with a combined total of 89-39-10. GV had close losses to Hendersonville and CAK and a bad loss to Collierville - not bad company to keep. MW lost to AA "powerhouse" Chuckey-Doak (who has since dropped out of all polls) - they have played no other team with a winning record except C-D and GV. GV had a bad night - MW had a good one (although a shot count of 46-8 does say something for the way the game went). Do they really deserve to be ranked up there?? You tell me.
  22. You were right - DB in at #11 today on the strength of a weak schedule.
  23. Poor soccer or parity - however you describe it - I think it makes for a more exciting season. Rather than 1-2 dominant teams there is about 12 -13 out there all on a somewhat equal level and it seems any one of them could win it all. It gets boring real fast when you know early in the season who is #1.
