  1. This game ended up 1-1.. I thought there should have been more cards in the game.. on a corner kick one of our guys headed the ball in the goal and one of their players, the red-headed #14, obviously swatted the ball out of the goal. We got a PK and scored, but #14 should have been red carded. The ref claimed not to see who reached up and knocked it out with their hand even though everyone including people on the sidelines knew who hit it out, so he said he couldn't card anyone. I think we got the bad end of the deal on that one. Also another time one of their players (#1) shoved one of our players who was on his back trying to get the ball and it looked like he was about to punch our player but he backed away, I thought this should also be carded but it wasn't. Other than the lack of cards and control of the game by the refs, I thought everything went fine.
  2. Well, We came out strong at the beginning of the game and controlled most of it as well, I was very confident we would win but turned out that we just couldn't score. Their first goal came from a throw in. The first time they threw it to our keeper, but it was called back because they were still subbing or something like that. So they threw it in again back to someone beyond the 18 who wasn't marked well and he took the ball and shot from far out, scoring an upper 90 shot.. I don't know if he meant to shoot it or cross it, but it was unstoppable. Their other goal in the second half was also scored from far out, noone picked him up quickly enough so he shot, which the ball hugged the far post on the right and went in. I wouldn't doubt that we did have more shots, they just were more accurate on a few of theirs.
  3. lol but professionals can't usually hear the individual fans because the stadiums are so loud I don't think
  4. Yeah, we won 1-0.. neither team could control the ball very well because it was raining on us, making it very slick. We actually scored another goal, but it was called back. One of our players won the ball outside the 18 and took it in for a shot, but when he was fighting for the ball, it hit his hand unintentionally. Many of the calls were ridiculous, most of the time in favor of Morristown West, the ref was calling out their players by name which usually isn't a good sign. They had annoying student fans that were yelling at me and other players, telling us how to make a throw-in among other things to try and make us mess up.. we never did. It was hilarious though because they kept messing up on their own throw-ins.
  5. This is Justin, an ex-fury player, I was just wondering who you played for competitively, I thought you were playing with Impact.. and I was trying to figure out who Knives was, because he denied that he was Adam in another post and I knew he was your keeper for Impact.
  6. Burns what competitive team do you play for? Impact?
  7. Where did you get that I was blaming the ref for our loss to Farragut? I was just saying that I thought it would be a badly called game when I first saw that ref and that it was funny what #12 said.. The refs called the game pretty fairly, I thought. Who are you anyways? You obviously know me.
  8. lol It's funny how you mentioned the refs, because after one call that was made against farragut, the guy who had been taking most of the long throw-ins (#12, an asian kid) turned to the linesman and said "you're supposed to be helping us out," I thought that was pretty funny. I'm surprised the ref called a pretty fair game because that bald ref we had made some terrible calls and some that he didn't call against us in our game against Kingston.. which I heard that's where he's from. So I was a little worried when I saw him. In the Kingston game he seemed to be trying to get in my way, like on a free kick we had infront of the 18, my teammate played it to the side and I was going to shoot but I had to work it around the ref so it didn't work very well. By the way, I think you are talking about my shot on goal in the Farragut game pseudophobia.. the one that was far out, past the 18 and was going just under the crossbar but adam tiped it over for a corner?
  9. Ok, I thought the Schmeichel pic and the fact that you play for Farragut were giveaways..
  10. His name is Justin, a junior.. once we got back to school he turned in his soccer uniforms. Now who are you?
  11. lol No, the ball boys were young, middle schoolers or younger. The guys yelling stuff at our players were older and bigger, highschool aged guys. I think they were finishing up track practice or something and they just stayed, because I'm pretty sure I saw them running, or maybe they were just running for the heck of it.. but one of Farragut's coaches told them to leave, so they did. Maybe it was them that went into the stands and was singing "Ole ole ole ole?" I don't know.
  12. We play Morristown West on Thursday. And yes, we played at the stadium, but there were fans next to the field on the track.. and I know it happens in Highschool soccer, but seems like 2 teams should be able to play without any outside interference/help.
  13. Yes, Farragut beat LC.. so what? I know of atleast 10 seniors on Farragut's team, there are probably more that I don't know. What will happen to them next year when they lose those seniors though? They have such an advantage over a small school like ours.. they have so many people to choose from, I heard that about 70 people came out to try out for Farragut, while we had about 25-30 at most. On top of that these guys have played together for years, I know, I have played with alot of them or against them. Our team has mostly younger players with no height. Farragut had height and that's what killed us. We couldn't win hardly any headers, which is how they scored several of their goals. They would have #12 take the long throw-ins and have guys running onto the ball for the header, or they would play a ball over the defence's head where they had over-loaded the side and head it in that way. This year's Farragut team has improved from last year's alot, since we stayed with them until the end last year until kevin underwood scored one goal against us to make the final score 1-0, believe it or not. It was pretty annoying though how after every call was made against them they would complain and act like they hadn't done anything when it was obvious. Also about the class issue, the fans/students didn't have any.. they would hang out close to our defending corner and say things to try to distract and insult our players, just like last year at our game against Bearden, however the refs were kind enough to take care of it this game. ps. Knives, you're adam aren't you?
  14. Enzo Uriquilla from LC is a very talented forward
  15. Coach Martin is still here and so is Quinten, the alumni assistant coach, is there too. But Coach Martin wanted another head coach that knew alot about the game so we now have John Lavin as our coach too. He played and coached in England professionaly and has the highest coaching certification from England. He came over here many years ago and coached University level soccer. Over the last few years he has coached my old competitive team (KFC Fusion) as well as some other teams. Coach Lavin hasn't been to any of the scrimmages yet other than our alumni game, so you wouldn't have seen him yet. I agree, the second goal scored in the Catholic scrimmage probably was carried by the wind some because it was shot around the half line. It was a nice, lucky goal scored by Mitch. Does anyone know who scored the one goal against Farragut in their scrimmage against Catholic? Was it Ricardo?
  16. Nice sportsmanship. What "soccer team" do you play for? Actually we have a really good, talented team this year, last year we lacked a good offense, but now we have that. We have had to play with 5 or 6 players with injuries (including 2 starting seniors, a forward and our sweeper) and one who is no longer eligible to play (a starting senior who played forward). As for the Jamboree, the wind was affecting everyone's play because it was so strong, so don't say that the wind at our back, which actually blew across the field in the Catholic game had any effect on our win, because it was causing our passes and shots to go different directions too. We had one goal against us that was caused by the wind in one of our other Jamboree games after our keeper would have knocked the ball out for a corner kick under normal conditions, it just blew the ball right back in the goal past our keeper. Also like other teams, we too are trying some new stuff and putting our JV in for some experience before the season starts. We finally have a coach now too after our other new coach for this season quit. I think just about every team underestimates the Lenoir City "soccer team" every year and Parke865 proves that.
  17. Also the teacher Mr. Bean, the side administrator, was heard by other parents to be laughing at LC's keeper when he was injured.. this is unacceptable and is not the kind of thing a teacher should do.
  18. To clear up the confusion, this is how I heard it from another LC player, the kid came to the game to talk to #16 (the sweeper, I think his name is Trevor Cook) because he called his gf a bi*%#. I don't know about a Preston guy.. but if he was one of the fans along the fence that was yelling at the LC players then, the same guy did go and try to shut them up. I also heard that the person that was standing nearby that didn't attempt to stop the students from yelling at the players was a teacher, is this true?
  19. I don't know how you meant that to sound, but it didn't sound very good considering the reason the game got "chippy" was not because of the score, but because of the sportsmanship of the fans. Lenoir City did not come out to play today.. this was not the normal LC at all. Boone is out for the season for tearing his ACL and Luke was out for this game because of blisters on his feet, both were important parts of the team. Also, another starting defender did not play the first half because of some circumstances and a freshman filled in his place instead.. Kevin who is an awesome keeper was injured and red carded early in the game for trying to shut up the fans who were yelling comments like "this is a blowout" "good throw-in #6" and "don't screw up again #22" (which could be heard across the field and it did not stop), which put LC down a player for the rest of the game. These comments continued throughout the entire game and distracted and angered every LC player, who would not be bothered by this?! How can anyone say that fans yelling at players wouldn't effect their game. This is dirty soccer. The Bearden team was good, I'm not saying they weren't.. but maybe the fans were actually doing more to help them win than they were on the field by taking the LC players out of their game. The actual team that was playing was not part of the problem, they were playing the game, but the fans were the ones causing the problems. I talked to the ref after half-time about why their fans weren't kicked out of the game and he told me he couldn't do it unless there was something actually threatening a player going on, which doesn't seem right to me. Our coaches warned us about rough play and the fans and their comments, but we just couldn't handle it especially without some of our talented seniors and other players. I think I speak for the whole LC team when I say that I want a rematch, without the fans playing mental games with the players. LC is better than 6-0, we beat Maryville 3-2 and lost to Farragut 1-0, we deserve a little respect even though we may be new to the district and are a small school compared to some.

  21. sorry, but I have to disagree on this, the shots made by chino and luke were unstoppable by any keeper, they were accurately placed in the corner. good game maryville, it was close.
  22. FRA definately had an advantage with heighth. Almost every ball that was played in the air, FRA won them. Their players played very rough, and their fans were yelling and cussing at the refs which was pretty fun to listen to. FRA had 2 quick goals on LC in the first half that LC wasn't ready for. I think the loss of our 2 starters hurt us defensively, but the subs stepped up and limited FRA to only 2 goals. If LC played their best game, the result could have been different. Good luck in the finals CAK.
