  1. I stand (at this hour, sit) corrected. Thanks for showing me the stats page. It brings back memories of a good season.
  2. I guess each remembers what he will. Not trying to diminish Gant's accomplishments at all. He is a great, young talent. I just thought I remembered him pitching. That was a good squad from GP. 9players from that team received scholarships to play at the next level.
  3. Wasn't Gant the starter vs. Goodpasture in the 2nd state tournament game in 2004? It was the game USJ was eliminated that year. You USJ fans probably remember it better for the incident after hitting Goodpasture catcher in the last inning. It was a ten-run win for the Cougars and I thought I remembered Gant, as an 8th grader, starting that game. If so, he took the loss in that one.
  4. Please tell me you are kidding with that agenda crap! You must be new to Jackson. For years, and I mean years, USJ has gotten headlines over EVERYBODY. In every sport, on every occasion, going back (as far as I remember) to the early 90's, USJ has gotten the ink in the Jackson Sun. Granted, there were many wins to report, but other schools were winning too. I know it has some to do with who is buying advertising, but I will NEVER feel sorry for USJ if they don't get the coverage that they want.
  5. I've heard that all the other AA schools in the state have gotten together and decided to just give Lipscomb the championship. They are going to play a tournament for second place because of Lipscomb's domination and intimidation. Any truth to this?
  6. Look closely at this post. Notice the M*A*S*H; note the "Radar" reference; the information in this post is made up, just like the name Johnathan Tuttle. Tuttle was a fictional character made up by Hawkeye and Trapper in an episode of my favorite show from one of the early seasons. The info in this post was meant to make fun of you all who think the best pitcher on your team throws in the 90's. Mikie Minor, legit; maybe a few others, but not as many as are on this thread.
  7. Johnathan Tuttle, from M*y school, hit 102 on the radar at A* game earlier this year. More S*couts at the game than fans. Let me know if you have Heard of him.
  8. I've heard that SC will play this week. Rumor is that all home games remaining this season will be played at Drake's Creek park. Can anyone confirm this? They did cancel a Saturday game with Davidson Academy, but that is very understandable under the circumstances (and probably a good thing for a young DA team). The new coach at SC is doing good things. We all hate to see this happen to his facility. Thankful however that every person survived.
  9. Goodpasture's Logan Darnell threw an 11 K, no-hitter tonight. Only two Blue Devils reached base via a walk, and both were eliminated by double plays. Congratulations Logan. It's my guess that W.H. does not get no-hit very often. By the way, the W.H. players and coaches did a great job on the field. The surface looked great from the bleachers. It was almost like it had not even rained at all.
  10. With the private schools out of 1A, now you might have a chance to compete. The competition at the state tournament will be watered down from what it has been the past few years. Also, being in Murphreesboro has got to be a lot better for you than Memphis.
  11. If you would like to see video of one of thier o-linemen/d-linemen, then go to scout.com and look for Mark Fisher. I found him last night under Tennessee's recruits. According to the site, he already has an offer from MS State and expecting several more. Unfortunately, you must subscribe to the site to see the video.
  12. I don't know anyone from South Doyle, but when you use the term "linemens", I know that you have no idea what you're talking about.
  13. The big game was a nightmare!! No good explanation for what happened there. Are they strong or just big? The answer, in a word, BOTH. You can add quick, agile, and athletic to that as well. For example, in the Camden game, DE Fisher intercepted a screen pass and outran a Camden back to the endzone.
  14. Line up across from them and find out.
  15. He should get one someday; he applies for nearly every job that opens up.
  16. I've seen Minor, Gray, and Gant (more than once). While seeing them pitch does not make me an expert, it does prompt me to respond. Minor has the chance to be very, very, good. If Corbin from Vandy signs him, he is the real deal. Trevecca coach says that Corbin is getting the best talent from the area. Gray throws as hard as anyone I saw last season, and I saw over 40 H.S. games. He was by far the best righty I saw. Gant has potential, no doubt, and he plays for an excellent team. However, I would not include him in the top five in the state.
  17. They are god? Well, you win. I mean, the guys at Goodpasture are a fine group, but they are no gods. Who could compare with that?! Or was that just a typo?
  18. Goodpasture's o-line was very good last year and they return 3/5 of it. Lance Locke, Quinton Groves, and Mark Fisher have all been starting in the o-line since they were sophomores. Groves and Fisher were both invited to Tennessee's junior day earlier in the winter, so it's obvious that other people besides myself think that they are pretty good.
  19. Is anyone interviewing this Saturday, are all the interviews done? If all interviews are done, what are they waiting on to make a decision?

    forrest

Minor is a great pitcher, there is no doubt about it. Corbin would not have signed him otherwise. Forest should have a much easier time getting to the state tournament this year and winning it without Goodpasture, DCA, and USJ to contend with.
  21. We heard that the principal's house burned. That's unfortunate. We wish her the best. she obviously has more important things on her mind than hiring a football coach. Also, I wonder if last Saturday's weather had anything to do with the delay?
  22. Congratulations to Coach Johnson on his new job. Congratulations to everyone on this site who has his/her priorities in proper order. I know there is not much to talk about this time of year, but I think we have beaten this dead horse into glue. Any chance of letting this thread go? I know what you're thinking, "Why do you continue to read it?" Because of my previous statement, "There is not much to talk about this time of year."
  23. Who will be interviewed on Feb. 11? Why so long between interviews?
  24. That should be, "Who's signing with WHOM?" Sorry, I can't help myself.
