  1. I believe that the Hopkins team would probably have the edge. The guys this year are very good and very talented. However, top to bottom the Hopkins team would probably match up much better. Blake against Powell and C.J. against Montrelle would be two very good match-ups but the rest of this year's team I just don't think has an answer to Cyrus, Jon, and Brian. I remember someone asking me this question last year and I told him that I thought that Hopkin's team would win by double digits. However, the team this year I think would make it a very close game. I think that the whole of McCord's team plays 110% on every play and great defense that would help make up for their size and talent disadvantage. Also, was Courtney Jones on that year's team? I think an interesting question would be how Powell and Blake match up. Perry was lights out as well and was pretty impressive going up against guys like Andre Allen and Derrick Byars(SEC Player of the Year last year. GO VANDY!). However, after watching Blake this year and last year against Liberty, he is no pushover. I ran into one of the DC coaches at the Vandy-Ole Miss game this year and he said Blake just got through shooting out for Stallings and he was impressed. Apparently both of the guys were/are considered in high regards by SEC schools.
  2. I don't believe he is the all-time leading scorer, but did Perry Powell not make the 1000 point mark as well? I was going through here and could not believe that perhaps the best player to ever come through DC has not been mentioned.
  3. Same coach, same result as last year.
  4. Lenoir City lost a good one. I had the pleasure of playing for him when he first started coaching at Newbern. Good coach, but more importantly a good man. Best of luck to him and his family.
  5. Last I heard, Tyler Smith was tearing it up at Iowa. I think Pierre Niles is playing ball at Memphis as well.
  6. You do know that this argument is over third place or fourth place? I believe that between the top 5 teams in AA this year, the 2-5 teams would swap wins without it ever being clear what the true rankings are. I mean I am glad DC made it to the semis and got some much needed experience, but no one was going to beat Liberty. I thought DC had the talent and athletic ability to at least hang with them and I was completely wrong. Whats done is done. Next year will be interesting though, it seems like everybody is returning a lot of players. Booker T, DC, WH, Bolivar, and Mitchell will have great seasons next year. Whatever, we'll argue over that next year. Is anyone else ready for baseball season?
  7. I was really looking forward to watching Raleigh-Egypt play. What in the world happened to them against Ridgeway?
  8. Liberty would beat Maryville by 15 points.
  9. I heard that Skogen is being recruited for football as well? Has he made up his mind on what he will pursue?
  10. Maurice Miller. Wish his team would have been at the state. I hate it when a team with that much talent doesn't get to compete at the top level. Oh well, better be on your game in March.
  11. Having seen both of them play, I will say that MJ Brown is the better player. Not by much though. I am sure that Brown would like to have that tourney MVP and state championship(this year's at least) that Skogen has though. One more thing, why in the world did 44 for Temple not make the tourney team?
  12. I talked to a few people and they said that White Station of 02, 03 and so on would be on the same level with Liberty.
  13. I'll be there. Went the past 3 years and this year will make it even more special that my Choctaws are there. I hope that Saturday is half as good as last years. I have to miss the morning session on Wednesday, because I have an organic lab. After that, I'll be in the Murphy Center the rest of the week. I'm sooooooooo excited.
  14. Is there some classes where I can learn to speak "real talk"?
  15. This is coming from a DC fan.........that block was clean.
  16. Newbern is going to be shutdown Monday night. I hope nothing catches on fire because it might take out half of Newbern before anyone realizes. The only people not going to be at this game is the policemen that drew the short straw, the attendant at Duncan's gas station and me. I am going to be on a beach in Mexico, but if anyone wants to trade, I could be up for it. Anyways, it should be a fantastic game and I hope that DC can pull it off. They are going to have to play very well, but I believe they can step up to the challenge. Good luck to DC. Go Choctaws!!!!!
  17. I am still trying to catch my breathe from last nights game. It is the 2nd best game I have ever had the pleasure of watching(Hamilton vs. Shelbyville, AAA state championships last year is the first). I knew DC was good, but what I had no idea of was how good CC was. I did not realize there was so much talent in this district. The game was a called a little lopsidded in the first half, but the refs called a pretty good second half and overtime periods. I hate that DC after winning a hard fought game last night has the distinct pleasure of hosting.........BTW. I mean no team out of Memphis is going to be easy to beat, but when the best team(well I guess until last night) in Memphis AA is your reward........Good lord. I hope DC can create a game atmosphere like they did a few years back when Ridgeway came to town. I still get chill bumps just thinking about it. Well, good to luck to both DC and CC in your substate match-ups. Show them that West TN is more than just Memphis basketball.
  18. Wait.......is there not a set location for the regions?
  19. I have a few theories on who is behind this. The first one has a trail that leads all the way to the White House. The other one ,and probably much more likely theory, is probably that someone from Dyersburg found us out, not sure who, and turned us in. I am really not upset about that. I mean we broke the rules and we were punished. I think that DC's biggest problem is that Dyersburg called us out and it is like the pot calling the kettle black to us. Whatever though. DC can think of a million things that Dyersburg does wrong and Dyersburg can think of a million things that DC does wrong as well.
  20. I think most DC fans believe the reason that the Choctaws were put on probation during the Hopkins era were based on two incidents. The first was I believe an unauthorized practice or scrimmage during dead periods and the other was an 8th grader riding a bus to the Haywood game which is a violation of the TSSAA policy. That 8th grader now plays at Dyersburg.
  21. Let's give it a break. Enough inuendos and "somebody said". Why subject 16 and 17 year olds to this type of gossip. NOW FOR SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT: How did Anna Nicole Smith really die? I couldn't agree with you more, but why we are on the subject I just wanted to clarify that I am the father Anna Nicole's child(Duh da Dum).
  22. If Gibson County plays as well as they did tonight, they have a very good chance to win. However, I am going to have to give the edge to the Choctaws. Cordova was a wake up call and now they are back to business.
  23. Wow, I bet you feel bad. I mean there will be a gap in those championship banners that overcrowd your stadium. I guess they forgot about that class, pride, and respect for opponents tonight with those two technicals. Would you like any ketchup with your crow?
  24. Macnarry, DC and Dyersburg have always been rivals but I know they just started playing each other in football again probably 5 years ago after a lay off of like 40 years or more. They just started playing each other again in other sports as well and now that they are in districts together, it is even more intense. No1Trojan, "putting up championship banner year after year", both the Dyersburg boys and girls have won a silver ball apiece since the beginning of the TSSAA. More than DC, but it ain't like yall are God's gift to athletics. I am guessing you play football for Dyersburg which does give you something to brag about, but still if you want to measure a school's talent by banner, what Counce did was not anything more special than what Ab Davis did in the 70s at DC(Gold ball and a silver ball). Last thing about recruiting, yes it is bad at the high school level and outlawed in aspects by TSSAA. But to say that one school is more guilty than the other is ludacris. It is a competetive district and if a DC or D-burg coach told me they didn't try to recruit talent out of Jr. High, I would laugh.
  25. Mitchell was too last year. As a matter of fact, so was Bolivar. Much more loaded than Liberty was. Liberty could suffer the same fate as those teams and just decide to get to the tournament and forget how to play basketball. I think Liberty has the best shot, but you still have to play the game.
