  1. I said one and I meant Shivy. Since you are so smart and all knowing, tell me about all of those players...who are these other 4 or 5? Name them or shut the heck up. I didn't realize that i was demeaning anyone. What issues, there is not any issues on THIS team and if you were involved with them, you would know. So give the list. Pats 17 CC 14
  2. I think Coach U is a fine coach and is showing the ability to adapt his play calling to his talent level. It pisses me off when people associate winning with character. IF you go 2-8, does that mean you don't have any character??? I've been on a state championship team and a losing team and believe me, it takes more character to go out and get beat up week after week when your losing. I know its hard for long-term Jefferson County people to acknowledge that our talent level is down and it has NOTHING to do with some kids leaving....maybe 1 I thing this team will show alot of character and play its best week after week. The next 3+ years should show improvement as the younger players mature and isn't that what you want. WHAT 'S YOUR RECORD? Let me guess...0-0 but in your mind your undefeated. Shut up about sharpening your ax, get a teaching position in the school system....get a coaching job and EARN the right to be so critical.....Despite what you hear about last years team, this years team loves and respects him.....you should to until your record is better than his.
  3. I thought the offensive line looked its best for the year. We are not strong enough to line up and run it straight ahead - but we can - if we mix in some mis-direction, option and roll out passing. The statue of liberty play was awesome and it allowed our line to use its speed and use a pulling guard. Its hard for a RB to be too patient when the holes haven't been very big for most of the year. McFall is learning and he will get better. He knows this isn't middle school after being hit like he was Friday night. DO YOU THING SHIVY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN MANY MORE YARDS ? I was pleased with the offense ....especially the line.......now the defensive line is another story...
  4. Nice classy comment. I hope we make it a game. I don't think there is one single aspect of JC's offense that they can say,"here it is, stop us"....but if they mix it up, they do have enough talent to put some points on the board. It will take some short, ball control (throw on 1st downs) passes to loosen up most defenses in order for JC to run the ball with any consistency. Reliford helps make up for some of McFall's inexperience and could be the work horse. Don't be surprised if you see alot of the 1 back, with McFall in the slot. 3rd and 10 or longer will not be this team's strength. The defense will not have many tackles for losses but they do have enough speed to take advantage of any mistakes. My biggest concern is that we don't get any pass rush and the QB has all day to throw. My prediction is Motown 14-7 at the half and will win 35-14 due to JC's lack of depth. I hope I'm wrong.
  5. We have all heard many reasons why the kids have quit. As is the case with most rumors, only the ones involved know for sure. I have heard of 5 reasons Shivy left. 1. his mom's back....Bull ____ 2. a bad grade on one class last year that Chris completed but didn't turn in 3. didn't like the fact that he and others couldn't listern to rap while working out 4. couldn't use the "N" word with some fellow black players. 5. wants to win a state championship Basically he sold his team out for nothing but selfish reasons. One or both of his parents probably had too much influence in this situation. I don't agree with everything Coach U does but I'm glad he stands up and doesn't let the kids listen to rap songs with ugly lyrics and doesn't let ANYBODY use the "N" word. When you profess to be a christian, that doesn't mean your perfect, but that you stand for something good and strive to be better. These boys have a lot of their life to look forward to and if they lose more games and don't win championships because of this, then I'm for it. The thing is, you can run a program with this type of discipline and win...win big....you just need people to buy in. This team might not win the championship this year but if your involved with them, they are close and working hard together. Initially I thought JC4Life was clued into the program, but he doesn't appear to know as much as he thinks.
  6. How did you think the offensive and defensive lines looked? That is where games are won and lost and they don't get much press.
  7. Trey played FB and McFall was the TB Sherrod was OK but he dropped a 30 yd pass that should have been easily caught. He will be a Good FS, but he did not look physical enough and missed some tackles and blew one coverage that gave up an easy TD. He's still young and he has a great upside. Team looked good for the first 2 series but had some drop off later. Maybe looking at some different combinations. In my opinion, Spencer looked much better at QB but he made a couple of ugly passes with one getting picked off.
  8. The freshmen class alone is 40 players and there is some good size. These freshmen are Jr., JC will be vying for the conf. championship
  9. We will find out Friday but i don't think that will happen. I'm thinking that Jeff will have to play quite a few guys both ways due to depth and i wonder if Friday will be used to find additional players. I say Jeff holds there own.
  10. where is he going to play and have all of this impact?
  11. I think you over react to 2 or 3 guys that bash Coach U. Did EVERYBODY love Coach U at Oakland? I doubt it. He does have some fans at JC. It appears that you mean well but when you come here and rant on, it just fuels the platform that these 2 or 3 guys have.....it becomes the dominant topic. Since you have consistently defended Coach U (admirable) we all know how you feel, try something new and then your friend will be better off. It does appear that we are going thru a transition with him as a coach. Any good leader recoginizes that sometimes you have to modify your style or communicate better in order to sell the masses on your vision. I have heard that he can be a little stubborn and prideful in how he communicates. Humility goes a long way in building rapport. People don't care how much you know until they they know how much you care. thumb
  12. How would he know anything about Coach U....he hasn't been to one workout or even talked to the coach. Have you actully seen him play football or are you basing your opionion of his track times and distances? Are you sure Tyler has the problem, or is it his dad. Stop the BS about not playing for the coach. How about playing for your teammates and yourself and your community. Not many successful players would say the only reason they played was because of the coach. Was that your only reason? I'm just curious....please list the names of quality players that have left and please leave Aaron Carson, Chad Williams off of your list. There have been individuals miss workouts this summer and they have not been kicked off.....we'll see.
  13. I don't know any names but an assistant coach told me the line would be smaller but quicker and not afraid to hit you.....I predict that the line will be acceptable except for the bigger games/teams...OR/DB I think those 2 games will show some weaknessess that will improve over the next year or so....all around
  14. I don't think Tyler is playing football. He didn't show up at any summer workouts. His dad thinks his basketball career has too much of an upside to play football and/or Tyler didn't get a special invite to work with the varsity and I think that hurt his dad's feelings. I don't think he could play at the varsity level this year due to his lack of strenth and aggressiveness but he has a great upside for the upcoming years....he is a good athlete....just get his dad out of the picture and he will make a difference next year and on ....if he plays.
  15. I'm sure Coach U is looking at all possibilities. Dejuan was used mainly as a receiver and didn't see much action at DB. Maybe the same case as Spencer. Already been there, seen that. JC is a run first, pass 2nd team and that is why I think Nick will start at FS and play receiver on passing situations. Spencer looks great throwing but his accuracy is questionable. He is a good kid but he has at least one bad knee and thus his quickness and speed is sub-par. Sounds familiar....like last year. If you want to open things up for Shivy, you need someone who can run the option and get out on the corner. If Zac can get out on the corner the job is his, if not, McFall might be the guy. I heard that McFall is already one of the top 3 or 4 fastest guys on the team. Like I said earlier, Shivy gives us the luxury of bringing a QB along. as long as he is mobile/quick...keeping it simple such as bootlegs, sprint outs, play action short passes, throw long down the sideline.....I don't think your going to see any drop back with a deep post down the middle this year. But if our QB comes along on the option and sprint outs, Shivy's production will be consistent thru out the year as team will have more to worry about than just him. Shivy is a great decoy and will make the QB better, no matter who it is.
  16. I saw both 7 on 7 sessions vs Carter. It is obvious that JC will use the run to set up the pass. Almost 99% of the throws were off of play action.(run fakes are not effective in passing drills) I hope the Patriots can get ahead or stay close in most games, because they will not be a come from behind team if multiple scores are required. The secondary looked OK. Brent Acuff is the leader there....good instincts that make for an effective corner. It appears that there are some open positions at FS and SS, depending on who gets the QB job. Overall team speed is good considering the youthful starters. I think its a good move to put Reliford at LB....speed kills !! Soloman will be missed but others are ready to step in. I predict that Nick Sherrod will play receiver and start at FS. He is a great athlete but his throwng motion is not grooved yet and he can help us too much at receiver....he might be the go to receiver since he was the only receiver who caught a pass longer than 20 yards. Depending on who wins the QB job, will affect the SS position. Spencer Gatlin didn't get many reps although he looked good throwing the ball.,,, maybe the best of all QB's . Either Coach U saw enough of him in spring for an accessment (positive or negative) or he really feels like Long or McFall can get the job done. Long got alot more reps than McFall. Zac looked pretty good the first session but didn't fare to well in the 2nd. He has a good motion but he sometimes rushes him self. I'm not sure how fast he is. McFall, has the advantage in speed and thus can get to the corner better. His arm is good for a freshman, but not quite ready for 5A varsity although it is better than what we had last year. I think Zac will get the starting job, but don't be surprised when McFall gets some time at QB. I think Coach U wants to run alot more option this year to get Shivy out on the corner and that could determine the starter. It might be too much to expect a freshman to be ready to start at QB. The current Patriot offense would make this more likely since it can develop as the QB does. Shivadecker is a luxury that makes the QB position more of a toss up. Either Long or McFall will play SS, depending on the QB result. One is a soph and the other is a freshman so the future looks good for awhile at these key positions.
