Charlie is a class act and he "prepares" his players to play. I don't think you would ever hear him blaming his teams loss on "their lack of hitting" unless he first took responsibility. Would love to hear a coach be honest for once and admit just maybe they were the real reason their team lost. A teams hitting reflects the coach's preparation. It's called "batting practice" and you don't need a fancy batting cage to do it. By the way it was not WB's ace that shut Maryville out and held them to 2 hits. Charlie deserves a lot of praise for what he has done. Some coaches have it and some don"t

WB plays Maryville since they beat Seveirville easily. Should be another grudge match. Hey FBE "shut up" we like it this way . Correction now 11-20, wow!

As far as coaching goes Charlie knows how to prepare and use his talent better than the rest. Obvious last night as Maryville had more guys on the bench than they had on the field. Most of the night they looked out of sync and out of position. Charlie should be strong consideration for Coach of the year with what he has accomplished so far.

TG you were very close WB 10 Maryville 4. The Govs out hit, out pitched,out coached and out played the Rebs the whole way.

Welcome to unfair opinions. But it looks like he voted before the district was even started? How about the all district team? WB finished 2nd and had only one on the all district team and Maryville had 3 and finished 4th in the regular season. Now this makes as much sense, Maryville wins the district tournament and has only one named in the region and not even on the all region 1st team. And most of the time these guys are only offensive players.

Just wondering , If Jesus is your Lord why are you so arrogant and hateful. Didn't He say to be humble and be kind to even those who don't deserve it? Dont just talk it walk it to. In head to head competition WB still lead M by 2-0. A fact. Sometimes it pays to be humble and lowly so you can rise to the top than fall to the bottom.

I predict the Govs will rebound in the regions and make it to the substate. They are definitely capable of beating Powell

These forums should never be about criticizing "kids"--------------Give him his just do. Here is an interesting thought. The top 2 teams of 3AAA will be rewarded by having to play the top two teams in 4AAA, Bearden and William Blount who will finish 3 and 4 in district. Sometimes it does not pay to finish 1 and 2 in the district.

No doubt about it Maryville is a underdog dark horse in the district and "possibly" the regions. I think the only team that may want to face them would be William Blount, since both wins were such blowouts. Maryville may have been holding back during the regular season or they may just not be that good. We will see real soon.

Has anyone heard who made it?

I was looking forward to watching Tony White Jr and Bearden tonight against Farrigut, but they switched games and put Halls/Clinton instead. Am I wrong or is Halls over rated? Bearden on the other hand appears to be the real thing. So far not impressed with Halls or their so called sharp shooting?

Houser made a three with seconds left to beat Heritage in overtime. WB will not quit. Heritage 1-2-2 zone gave them fits all night, but they won in the end.

Best example of team play is William Blount and why they are beating teams with better individual athletes. Also doesn't hurt that they have a great coach who can outsmart the rest of them. They play as a team and pass the ball unselfishly to the open man(all of who can shoot the 2 and the 3). And if they don't pass to the open man, you can bet they will ride the bench.

Face it Prepxtra has their favorite teams, their favorite coaches and their favorite players. The coverage and the articles almost always reflect that. Some teams ,coaches and players will rarely receive their just do. Such is life and we all need to get used to it. The "fat cats keep getting fatter" but "fat cats die sooner". So to the little guys out there I say "who cares what Prepxtra or gomab or any other self appointed expert thinks?" Play , coach and compete for the love of the game and ignore "the fat cat promoters" and you won't need to get "all puffed up".

Football players may make a big difference in these 3 teams. Alcoa should be a major difference. Not sure about Oakridge? and Maryville?

I hear they are a strong contender to go all the way. Their three guards are supposedly fast and unstoppable. They won that tournament in Greeneville I hear and knocked off some big teams. Our district may be tight where is White going next year?

Exactly JW. Don't worry this guy is a self appointed authority and its all about money. You must pay to go to one of his so called showcases so that he can see you play. Who cares ,but parents with nothing better to do, and money to burn. Also you need to pay for his subscription and you need to play on a travel team (more money) etc etc. You are exactly right there on some kids on his list that probably are not even the best on their team and definitely not in their district. You don't hear those other kids names becausee their parents didn't spend the necessary money. And how could this guy living in Middle Tennessee ever have time to see all players in the state? Look at his web site, he tries to pass himself off as a "recruiter". So pay him a fee and he will try try try to get your kid a scholarship by hyping him up on his self appointed authority rankings. I would bet you anything this guy never touched a basketball in high school let alone college. Rankings are meaningful when sportwriters and coaches rank, but not when done by self appointed recruiters. Follow the money trail. That is what it is all about.

The student fan section can often be more entertaining than the game. More schools appear to be going all out in this category. Each district needs to give a trophy each year to the best student fan section and the best "student fan" and I am sure it will attract more people to the games. It definitely adds entertainment value. Yes South Doyle is one of the best and Alcoa definitely is together as they stand duirng the entire game and chant in unison. Hopefully some other schools will get some>>>>>>>>>>>

No idea, but how good could they be without the football players(they look huge)?

Alcoa may have the best fan section.....followed by William Blount....hate to admit it but they rock (Alcoa student section)
