  1. What was the score? It should be a good match-up in the first round of the region between Smyrna and Clarksville.
  2. FCS and RBS will play at 4 Monday. FCS doesn't have lights. What time do Monterey and Westmoreland play?
  3. Who was the kid that Friendship threw today? Was he a freshman? How many straight years has FCS won the region? How long has it been since FCS went to the state?
  4. Was RBS or Monterey the regular season champ in District 7? At what stage is their tournament? Who is left in the winners bracket? Who plays who in the losers bracket? Have any teams already earned a trip to the region?
  5. Does anyone know what the plans are for Thursday?
  6. Is this a likely scenario: Boyd-Buchanan wins Region 3 and hosts a substate game, and Friendship Christian wins Region 4 and hosts a Substate game?

    8AA????

You are guaranteeing that one of those teams will win the state with a perennial power like Gibbs sitting out there...and who knows who else. Softball and baseball are very interesting, and quite different sports, from many others. You can have a dominant team, but if a bloop single falls at the right time, you're going home. We all kind of think Lipscomb will pull through because they've been there so many times. They're used to having their backs against the wall, and because of that, they EXPECT to come through. There is NO substitute for experience. However, even with that fact, remember what happened to mighty Ezell a year ago. Upsets can and will happen. I wish Greenbrier the best of luck. They've been on the verge of getting to the state several times and just haven't managed to quite get there. No offense to Hume-Fogg (I really respect the turnaround they've made), but I'd like to see Greenbrier get there. They've played in a lot of the big weekend tournaments this year too. The tournament is being played at Macon County, right?
  8. What's going on in the 9-AAA tourney? Who won the Beech-Mt. Juliet game? Who pitched for each team? Did Cozart pitch for La Vergne today? Did Hendersonville lead most of the way? Who won the Wilson Central-Smyrna game?

  10. Who plays who and who hosts? Are they Friday?

    PHS-WH score?

Who won the Portland-White House game and who pitched?

    9AAA

Mt. Juliet is 9-2. Hendersonville is 9-3. LaVergne and Beech are 6-5. Gallatin and Wilson Central are 4-7. Smyrna is 4-8. White House is 3-8. Mt. Juliet plays Hendersonville next Wednesday for what likely will decide the district championship. MJ won the first meeting. These records are assuming that Mt. Juliet defeated La Vergne Wednesday. I never saw a score on that game. If La Vergne won, Mt. Juliet is 8-3 and La Vergne is 7-4.
  13. Who won the tournament?
  14. Daniel is a great athlete with big-time potential. However, he's still raw. He was the third/fourth starter last year. He's the No. 2 this year. I'm sure it didn't help him that he missed the first two weeks of the season playing in the state basketball tournament. He had an up and down junior senior. He appears to be swinging it pretty well right now. He has a good arm. He just needs a lot of fine tuning. I'm not sure if he has college aspirations or not.
  15. It had been a pretty good week for Portland seeing as they beat Greenbrier Wednesday. GHS was in first place. Now, they have two losses, as does Lipscomb, but I think GHS has beaten DL both times they've played. It's a very competitive district. Whoever comes out of that district will have a shot at going to the state (both teams that come out will have a shot). I'm not sure if Portland is capable of being one of those teams though. I just don't see there being enough pitching there. They're hard-nosed though and will battle. Portland doesn't lose a lot of seniors from this team, but I can't see them being much better next year unless all these kids find somewhere to play travel ball this summer. And that's probably not likely with so many of them playing football too.
  16. Is Macon County hosting some type of tournament this weekend, and who all is playing in it? How many seniors do the Tigers have, and who are they?
  17. Gallatin 10, White House 4
  18. Is Whitwell good enough to get to the substate? What is Class A like in the Chattanooga area. I'm just wondering whose going to match-up with Friendship and whoever else comes out of Middle Tennessee on down the line? Are any of those Chattanooga area teams in Class A teams as good as Friendship?

    Hume-Fogg

I know that HFA started off the season on fire, but what's happened lately? They were beaten 8-0 by a struggling White House team over the weekend, and then Greenbrier blanks them 3-0 today. Any explanations?
  20. Does anyone know who this game from last Thursday and what the score was?
  21. Is CA referring to Columbia Academy? Aren't they always pretty good? Do a lot of those kids play for the Columbia American Legion squads in the summers?
  22. How good is the Claunch girl that moved in? What school did she come from? What about the other new girl?
  23. I am by no means a softball 'insider' but do have some type of clue. I would assume that a program that has gone to the state as often as FCS has goes and plays in all of the top weekend tournaments, and therefore plays top competition, right? Does FCS play in THE top tournaments every weekend, or do they play in the second-tier tournaments (there is a difference)? How many times has FCS been to the state recently (four out of five years, is it something like that)? The only thing I can figure, as to why they don't get the recognition they deserve, is that their district and region is weak. I mean, they don't have to go through any competition in order to get to the state. Ezell faces tough Class A competition a lot in their district and region. I'm sure it makes them tougher too. FCS is hardly ever challenged until they get to the state. Do they even get challenged in the substate (what's the competition like from the Chattanooga area - will the second-place team out of their district have a shot to go to the state too)? I guess the point I'm trying to make is that they'd be more respected if they didn't have such an easy road to the state. It's beneficial in that the FCS program is at a level to where it can get to the state every year. However, it's detrimental in that the lack of competition hurts when they do get there. Any thoughts?

    Soddy vs. HFA

Did I see that Hume-Fogg lost to White House 8-0? What happened there? Who else did HF lost to this weekend?
