  1. Roberson is better. She makes her teammates better. She plays better defense. She plays hard all of the time. She was the best player last year on a White House team with two 6-foot, talented post players. She has even posted up some this year in order to help generate some offense for her team. However, Unger will win the award. Unger's passing has to get better, and so does her defense. If it does, she'll be a great player as a senior. She is so deadly. Her range is 25 and in, and she just has a knack of getting it done on the offensive end. She doesn't need much room to get a shot off, and she releases quick. When she drives to the basket, she's often going to score, but she understands how to draw contact and get to the line too. She's the best player on the best team. She'll be the MVP. Though I'm on the outside simply looking in, both seem to be pretty classy young ladies. Good luck to all.
  2. Did all of Clay County's girls play in this game?
  3. 63-55 west jenkins 18 summers 14, hager 10
  4. How tall is Heady? How tall is Leonard? Neither stand at 6-foot, right?
  5. Who won it? What was the score?
  6. I'm out of the loop. I thought gentry had a torn acl. Is that not true? If she did have a torn acl, did she elect not to have surgery and try to play through it?
  7. How many bowl games were played in the state, and how did they come out?
  8. Hey highschoolgameday22, If I'm not mistaken, it wasn't a three-way tie in 2006. White House was third due to having two region losses (Macon County and Station Camp). Pearl-Cohn (lost to White House) and Station Camp (lost to Pearl-Cohn) both had one region loss, but they weren't really tied for first seeing as Pearl-Cohn won the head-to-head meeting between the two teams. Hope that helps.
  9. Is the jamboree in trousdale on friday or saturday? it seems like it's been on saturday in past years.
  10. I know this is a topic about a scrimmage, but did Bass, Hembree, Sanders or Evans go play college football anywhere? They were all very good players, especially Bass. They seemed like class acts too.
  11. Who else made the all-tournament team?
  12. Who made the all-tournament team from FCS, Gordonsville, Trousdale and Westmoreland?
  13. Great topic. This topic looks far more indepth at basketball rather than just another thread of this girl is better than that girl or this team is better than that team. Mental toughness is instilled by coaches. Some players have it regardless because it's instilled by parents. Coaches that win and garner respect (by giving respect) create team players who want to win regardless of what it takes. The Jackson Countys of the world have it. It's why they overachieve and get more out of less talent that other programs are able to do. It's why Jackson County won four straight titles. JC didn't have the most talent in the state all of those years, but they did have a bigger will to win than anybody else. They still have it to some extent. I don't know if Jim Brown teaches it, but her certainly instills it in some fashion (maybe just by his conduct, interaction and communication) with his players. I'm sure he has confidence in his girls too, which helps a player when he/she knows that his/her coaches believes in them. Lots of good programs have a measure of it, but the best programs have a greater portion of it. They can reverse the momentum of a game simply by their will to win.
  14. White House had better turn it on quickly if they hope to win one region game.
  15. F-Newbell PG-Crocker G-Jenkins C-Malone G-Barnes
  16. How's Kara? Will she get to play Thursday and Friday? Hope she's ready for the tournament.
  17. gordonsville's coach is the coach of the year, unless westmoreland manages to work their way into the first place mix. if so, then i'd go with westmoreland's coach. no disrespect to friendship's coach, but they seem to do more with less at gordonsville and westmoreland.
  18. No disrespect to the best team in the district (friendship), but it's probably either dillard or kowalski.
  19. Anybody know who won today's Portland-Friendship game. I heard that Friendship's game had been rescheduled to today. It was supposed to be next week.
  20. As far as Gallatin and Beech go, they're solid when they're playing at the top of their game. Unfortunately, neither plays at the top of their game very often. How Beech lost to La Vergne makes me scratch my head. If you can handle Beech's pressure, you'll put up some serious points though. Gallatin and Beech will likely play again in the first round of the district tournament. All that Friday night does is determine where it will be played at. La Vergne blew it with Tuesday night's loss, which will mean a No. 6 seed. They probably won't have a shot now in their first-round game, which I'm assuming will be against Smyrna. D-II girls hoops is relatively weak. Everybody knows it except the D-II faithful. BA is probably the only team that could possibly win a game in the AAA state tournament, probably the AA state tournament too for that matter (unless there are some really weak regions out east or west that I'm unaware of that have teams get there and go one and done almost every year). But you play with the card you're dealt. PJP II is ranked second in D-II. Good for them. They're in search of a D-II state title. They can't win a AAA state title. PJP II beat Gallatin, but keep in mind that Gallatin is an average or at best slightly (and I do mean) slightly above average AAA team that has been inconsistent. Good luck to all three of those programs. Kendrick won a AAA state title. You have to respect her for that. Walker's program almost won one too (runner-up a few years back) and plays extremely hard. Rollins has won a bunch of games in her career and may have won some state titles back in the day too. You have to be a pretty good coach (or at least have to stay out of the way enough) in order to have that type of success.
  21. Was Green a starting wing? Hate to hear about an injury like that. Are Phillips and Snow both legitimately 6-foot tall?
  22. Why will they not play for the region title?
  23. Who's injured? Is it serious?
