Sunbright could have scored 3 or 4 more TDs if their receivers would throw a block downfield instead of counting how many defenders are going to hit the guy with the ball. It would have also helped if the line would have given England 3 seconds to throw the ball. Great job by the Coalfield coaches and team leaders for keeping them in it during the 3rd quarter. Sunbright had them on the ropes, but the Coalfield defense stepped up big time and lead them to victory. It was a great game! As far as the refs go, they did their job to the best of their abilities. Every game has missed calls, its part of the game.

No one is making excuses. Sunbright could have won that game but they didn't. And why wouldn't people from Sunbright still talk about that season. They were the first team in the county to go 10-0. And guess what, sometimes lower seeds actually win. Shocking, I know. I am sure every fan in the state still talks about the great seasons that their teams have had, whether it be a state championship or the first trip to the playoffs in school history. To put down these communities, these fans, these players is sad. Pitiful really.

To be fair that 4-6 team would have won 8 or 9 games that year if their starting QB hadn't missed half the season with injuries. Plus the Sunbright team was told Wednesday night they were playing that team and not the one they had been practicing for.

I hate to agree with oletiger here, but he is sort of on the right path. Sunbright wasn't cheated so much as put at a disadvantage. The players were so pumped to play South Pitt, that when they were told Wednesday after school that they would be playing Lookout Valley instead (according to LV coaches they knew about the change since the weekend) they had a let down. Add a couple of game changing mistakes and there you go. I am not taking anything away from LV. They would have won their region easily that year had their qb not missed 4-5 games due to injury. He could run like the wind and had an average arm but he made the passes he had to.

Played over their heads? Coalfield ran the same play 57 times and Sunbright couldn't stop it once. Sunbright played ineffective defense and couldn't catch a pass on offense. IF Sunbright makes the playoffs, they won't get far because they don't have an offensive line that can block an above average defensive line.

The team 9 years ago wasn't overrated, they basically screwed themselves when it came to the playoffs. The team got so pumped up to play South Pitt, that when we found out Wed. night that we were in fact going to play Lookout Valley instead we had a big letdown. Plus we didn't play well and Lookout Valley had some good players returning on a team that if they hadn't suffered injuries would have finished a lot higher than a 4 seed. And we didn't play King's academy or north greene. It was Red Boiling springs and Taft Youth Center.

The ETSU dome is a horrible place to watch a football game. The way it is built neither side can see their own sidelines. Plus the sound doesn't carry well in there. There are 1A and 2A stadiums that are alot louder. If they can't keep it in Murfreesboro (which is a great spot), Cookeville would be a good choice. Clarksville might also be a nice alternative.

I don't think it is poor management. It is the area. Look at a map of Morgan County. You have Oakdale in the southwest, Coalfied in the southeast, Wartburg in the middle and Sunbright in the north. Sunbright's buses have to cover more land area than Oakdale and Coalfield combined.

49-6-2105. Maximum time in transit. Statute text No pupil shall be allowed to remain in transit to or from school on a school bus more than one and one-half (1 1/2) hours in the morning or one and one-half (1 1/2) hours in the afternoon. History [Acts 1947, ch. 92, ?§ 3; C. Supp. 1950, ?§ 2495.3 (Williams, ?§ 2495.4); T.C.A. (orig. ed.), ?§ 49-2203.] Unless the state changes this, there won't be a single high school in Morgan County. The vocational thing doesn't matter because the kids school is not the vocational school but Sunbright or Oakdale. Once they reach their school the time restraint stops. Right now there are kids that go to Sunbright who get on the bus at 6:45 am and arrive at school after 8 am. If you add the time it takes to get from Sunbright to Wartburg, these kids are over the time limit.

The distance isn't the issue, its the time. There are kids that ride the bus over an hour to get to school. Even if they built the school in Wartburg, there would still be elementary and middle schools in Sunbright, Coalfield, and Oakdale. The bus routes would stay the same for all the schools, but now the high school kids would have to stay on the buses from Sunbright or Coalfield to Wartburg. The state has limits on how long a kid can ride a bus to school and this would be getting awfully close to that limit.

It will never happen. The county is too big for one school. If they did, the school would have to be built between the fair grounds and Sunbright. They could make a North and South Morgan County high school, but that is it.

when I played we had thirty minutes before practice to get our weight lifting in. It is not that hard to do, of course we only practiced 3 to 3 1/2 hours. I don't think they should have a class for the players to workout in, they should make them take real classes.

I may not agree with Coach Harrison all the time, but I think we should give him a chance. He did have to take over after Newberry left the program in awful condition. It is going to take time to build the program back up.

There won't be a single Morgan County school because the state has limits on how long kids can ride on a bus. Right now some kids at Sunbright ride the bus nearly an hour and a half. If there was a single school it would need to be near Sunbright, which would put the kids in the Oakdale and Coalfield area close to the time limit.
