  1. Anyone that went that could provide feedback on both would be appreciated.
  2. I'm sticking with the Indians with this one! Good luck to the Tribe and fans!
  3. I think he had already given up the North job before West Ridge had opened. Maybe that's why? Who knows.
  4. I don't know who "everybody" is but those statements never came from me. I saw a few from fans of other programs. I know the staff lost Norris. Who knows what kind of impact he had. We all know coaching is more than calling plays. I've just never been impressed with this staff. Last year or while at South.
  5. They will say, "we lost a lot of seniors/experience from last year's team". That's true but where was the development taking place for the replacements? My point. You never really see a Science Hill or a D-B that isn't competitive no matter what talent was lost. The offense is boring, predictable and the play calling suspect. Last year as well. It's just my opinion, but I think this group is in over their heads. 2nd year replacement might be a little too soon but I don't see anything changing. I've said it before, the staff must realize the importance of creating a winning mentality. 1 successful year will not do that.
  6. I'm going with the Indians. Stout defense and can score. Mistakes, penalties and turnovers will cost the tribe somewhere along the line if they don't clean it up but I don't think it will be this game. DB 28 Devils 14
  7. Was the talent level drop off that bad or did the staff fail to prepare this group or just a culmination of lots of things? I agree on the play calling. It's inevitable that you will have some drop off after graduation but should your program fall off a cliff?
  8. The biggest issue at West Ridge is parking. I suggest, if you have a ticket, to get there early to get a park. Next, the stadium seating is less than adequate IMHO. D-B's band will take nearly half of the visitor seating unless WR has added aux seating which is a very possible reality. All good points, you never know with teenagers what's going to happen. I want to believe that the staff at WR is playing for the future. I think the middle schools last year had good records. I also know that it was important to get the program off on a good footing last year and the team was heavy senior laden. I was told that the current group of Wolves didn't get to see a lot of playing time last year. I don't know if that's true or not. The games that I have attended this year were mistake prone. DB will not have a problem moving the ball thru the air in my opinion. As far as this game being a rivalry, it is simply because of the closeness of the schools and communities. A lot of kids know each other, have probably played with each other at some part in their lives, etc. I hope this contest becomes a competitive rivalry because I think it helps everyone get better, time will tell. Hope everyone traveling to and from the game has a safe trip and I hope the Wolves pull the mother of all shockers and that both teams come out healthy.
  9. There aren't many Ridgers on coacht. My opinions on this year's group are known. I fear the game will be over after the 1st qtr. The Indians are too talented. I hope the young Wolves continue to get better each week to prepare for the future.
  10. Go ahead Tribal. We both know how that one will turn out.
  11. I did not go to the game because I already knew the outcome. I am extremely concerned over the direction of the program and yes I know it's only year #2 BUT I would be ok if WR was losing AND improving AND being competitive. I could be way off base here but it seems to me that there are "issues" and yes the predictable play calling is well......predictable. I know I am just an observer with an opinion and it's easy to critique from the sideline but I said before IF the coaches cannot find a way to motivate, teach and get a buy in from this group of kids, then the program could possibly fall into a deep cycle of losing. When South formed in '80 the coaching staff knew what it would take to get that program off the ground. In the mid 90's some horrible hires almost killed the program and it took YEARS to rebuild. I know everyone likes to pound Stacy Carter but if it were not for him I'm not sure South would have turned that corner. The coaching staff at WR hopefully knows what they are facing. I have many concerns over just more than the football program. Time will tell.
  12. I agree. I still don't know just how good or bad the Wolves are considering I think they have 9 turnovers the first 2 games. They can throw the ball BUT who knows at this point. Volunteer was not a Guage and Boones defense looks really good and I don't think many teams will have success against them unless they have an o-line that can help with a power game. West Ridge was having success the first drive with what I call power/misdirection but of course fumbled the ball. Did Boone adjust during that drive because i dont remember WR going back to the set they began with. Maddening to say the least.
  13. Science Hill takes this one barring a miraculous turnaround by the young Wolves.
  14. Boone by whatever they choose. The only thing bad that could happen is an unforseen injury. I'm not trying to jinx. Hope it's a clean game all the way around.
  15. Visitors side at J Fred is still inadequate because they let the DB band move over there. Listen I still think J Fred is an awesome place with tons of history but it sucks sitting in the end zone and having to walk down to see the time on the clock. My favorite memory of my dad, who passed away when I was 10 was walking in under the scoreboard and standing and watching the game. My dad loved DB football. As for West Ridge, I think the entire facility is amazing, I just hope they can keep a great product on the field.
  16. Exactly. The Wolves will have to eliminate the mistakes in order to just have a chance. This is a critical game in my opinion. Make or break? Maybe, maybe not but the psychy of 15, 16 and 17 y/o kids are fragile. Get in a pattern of losing and hoping to win or trying not to make a mistake creates too much crap in your head.
  17. Congrats to Boone! You all have a special team and I hope you make LOTS of noise. I will be pulling for you the rest of the year. I know a few administrators at West Ridge and I have not heard any talk of trying to get down to 5a. Back to the game. I know there is lots of youth on the Wolves but if the coaches cannot find a way to stop the turnovers then it's going to be hard to win another game. (8 or 9 the first two games) Wolves started out banging the ball down the gut for 2 straight first downs. Hope the young Wolves learn and improve. Congrats again to all the Boone fans!
  18. It would have taken an all out effort to beat this Boone bunch. I said it earlier, you cannot turn the ball over 4 times and expect to win. Last week, this week, same thing. I will say this, I think if Boone stays healthy they have a chance to make some noise in 5a.
  19. Will do. I'll be in the Royal Blue/Grey shirt with a blue WR hat if you happen to see me as well. We should both be easy to single out in the crowd!
  20. West Ridge also left 2 or 3 TDs off the board against Volunteer. Very sloppy with ball handling. I am aware that Volunteer is not Boone but West Ridge is not South Greene as well. I do expect a Boone win based on their defense alone, however play sloppily and it could be interesting. If West Ridge plays sloppy it will get out of hand quickly IMHO. Assignment football as they say!
