  1. A little surprised myself blazer. Not that WR won but how they won. Crockett had no answer on either side of the ball.
  2. Final Wolves 24 Pioneers 6 Dominating win by the Wolves!!!
  3. Good point. I didn't go to William Blount but watched the live stream. WB's field "looked" like natural grass. I could be wrong.
  4. The only common opponent these two teams have is DB with both losing. Crockett by 28 and WR by 14. I am fully aware that Crockett is not the Crockett of 10 years ago however I see a competitive game. Mistakes by either could cost either the game. Not sure if Crockett relies more on the run game or if they are more balanced. WR has shown that they can and will throw the ball BUT they must limit mistakes.
  5. This is a tough one to guage. I think the Wolves, who have yet to put a complete game together, have to be on their game to win this one.
  6. It's obviously about match ups. WR wants to establish the run but over the last couple of weeks has been slinging the ball quite a bit more. Played D-B tough. Defense has been soft against the run, almost a bend but don't break defense. Wish I could be more in depth. Waiting for the Wolves to put 4 qtrs together. Honestly, this game could go either way IMHO.
  7. They better open it up because WR cannot be one dimensional and win against good teams. With that said they shouldn't have any issue handling the chiefs.
  8. First off, it was a GREAT atmosphere at J Fred. DB took WR completely out of their offense and forced the pack to realize they could actually throw the ball. Both teams are horribly undisciplined concerning penalties. WR extended 2 drives with horrible penalties. I honestly still don't know what to think about the pack. I do think it hurt only having played 2 games. Once again drives into the redzone come up empty....CANNOT DO THAT AND WIN. Congrats to DB and fans, pulling for you in the remainder of your games!!!! I think, hope, the remaining schedule for WR looks winnable. Finishing 8-2 would be far more than I would have ever expected in year 1. Keep getting better! One game at a time! I hope this game keeps producing nail bitter endings. It was good to see!
  9. I agree that WR doesn't throw alot whether by choice or forced. For WR to have a chance, they cannot come into J. Fred "starry eyed", they must play mistake free and control the LoS. They must also finish drives in the red zone. Praying for a great game with no injuries!!!!
  10. According to the West Ridge Facebook page, WR and DB are partnering to do a black out at J Fred Friday night to show solidarity with TN. High school. Shirts that state "We stand with TNHigh" will be sold at WR but will also be available at Gametime Sports in Kingsport. Cost of the shirt is $12 and all proceeds will go directly to the Montgomery family. FYI, I just read on the Gametime website that if you want a shirt for this Friday you must buy thru West Ridge after noon on Thursday otherwise shirts purchased at Gametime will be available Sept. 22nd. Very classy move by these two fine high schools and the entire community. Https://montgomeryfundraiser.itemorder.com
  11. So horrible. Prayers for this young mans family, friends and all of the Viking family.
  12. I think Boone will win this one blazer.
  13. Man alive, I just got home from enduring another UT loss and had to be reminded of this!!! LOL!!! although I don't recall South being favored. Thanks for the painful memory!
  14. You have a great memory! Next year at South, South won in OT. Those early years of that rivalry were great. Hope it picks back up with WR!
  15. The first 10 years of the DB-South rivalry was as good as it got for me in this area. I had and still have so many friends from DB. It was just fun!! I hope this rivalry develops into a competitive game that drives success at both schools. I agree with Gunner in his analogy of settling into a pattern for WR. They have to be less predictable. JD, the way the Greene Devils is hanging points on the board, I'm not sure a scrimmage with anyone other than Maryville or Alcoa would be a good guage for how anyone is going to play. The Devils look unstoppable. As for this game, it will be won in the trenches. If WR has a chance they have to finish drives. 4 inside the Redzone against the toppers resulted in zero points. Cannot do that and win games against teams like DB.
  16. Both teams made mistakes. Game changing mistake was middle of third, WR trailing 26-21, had the ball inside the 20 of SH and threw a pick in the endzone. SH made some great halftime adjustments to shut down the QB keeper. WR coaches has to be able to counter. Like gunner stated 1st qtr looked like the Wolves were going to be hard to stop. After the 1st WR score, wolves picked off a pass and had a chance to go up 14-0, drive stalled and missed a FG. Just too many mistakes and yes I think part of that is only having 1 game under their belt but yes they hung but didn't cash in when they had the opportunities.
  17. It was a great atmosphere! What a facility! Eliminate the mistakes and it certainly could have been a different game. I agree on only playing 1 game coming into this game. Very concerned over the lack of an affective passing game. Another off week, get healed up if necessary and ready for DB.
  18. You're absolutely 100% correct! TD there would have gave the Wolves the lead.
  19. If I counted correctly, WR had the ball in the red zone 4 times and came away with no points. CANNOT DO THAT and expect to beat anyone.
  20. Thanks EHS, I'm proud of the kids. WR had their chances but way too many mistakes. Lots of football let to be played, hopefully get those mistakes corrected. Congrats to Science Hill!
