  1. Finding it hard to believe this thread has not garnered any more interest than it has - I suppose the fans are waiting to let their teams do the talking. Get there early to find a seat - it was three deep in the end zones last year...

  3. Don't know names, just that two had to go to the hospital and will miss this week's contest. Hope they're OK. What about MoEast's passing game? Has it been effective/a factor? What about their defense?
  4. What kind of impact will be made on the game with the two kids from MoEast out for this game? MoWest got a good test from a good KnoxWest team last night. Don't know a thing about MoEast and no clue what to expect. Can anyone enlighten us?
  5. The kids do deserve better. Hopefully someone with some influence (it ain't me) will take notice and help find a solution.
  6. Congratulations to Coach Woods and the Morristown West Trojans for the 43-0 win over Volunteer. Great win for the kids - I think just about everyone was able to play tonight. The Pink Flamingo award goes to whoever is responsible for the field - it was an absolute mess. The new turf in the middle was probably the WORST part of the field other than the sidelines. It will be a miracle if a kid doesn't get hurt from a divot or twist in the mud if it rains again. I'd be looking for a way to get my money back. The field will not last any time this season and it's a shame. You can't expect a field to hold up when you have recreation leagues, middle schools, freshmen games, JV games and Varsity games all being played on the same field. Hopefully someone can come up with a decent idea for a fix - this one certainly didn't seem to do it. Disclaimer: I know nothing about turf or football fields. I can, however, recognize terrible playing conditions and see ruts in the field where the new sod was put down and standing water. I do not profess to have any answers but would certainly be welcome to hear a good idea for a fix.
  7. The MoWest OL will have their work cut out for them tonight, but I think they are up to the challenge. It will be interesting to see what happens.

  9. Wesley looks good - is concentrating on fullback and is a great kid with good parents. He'll be fun to watch this year.
  10. Good for you for your dedication to your son and the other kids as well. I hear that Volunteer cancelled the JV and Freshman games for this week. Any particular reason?
  11. Thanks for the clarification - sincere apologies to "recruitguru" .
  12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Foley: Young man what do you wanna do with your life? Son: Well actually, Matt, I kinda wanna be a writer. Matt Foley: Well loddy-freakin'-dah! We got ourselves a writer here! Hey, Dad, I can't see too good is that Bill Shakespeare over there? Mo Buck, thanks for the report. I believe "recruitguru" is the mother of Volunteer's QB - any word?
  13. Thanks - obviously a fave of mine as well. Don't know a thing about Volunteer - I heard that "26-0" was taped on the mats of the gym last year when MWest visited - some of the guys are still chapped. What should we look for from Volunteer? Offense/Defense? Maybe the "guru" can shed some light?
  14. Alright, what should one expect for the Trojans' home opener against Volunteer? Any intel out there on Volunteer?
  15. Some of the calls were quite questionable, but that was to be expected. Best play of the night - #8 got OWNED on MW's #20 TD run - just dropped to his knees and turned around and watched. JC's DL showed some real toughness - props to the Robbins kid. Hope the QB is OK, heard he has a bad ankle sprain and may be out for at least a couple of weeks. Good luck to JC the rest of the season. JC4, catch you next season - in all sincerity, I enjoyed your intelligent analysis of JC's offense and the banter. Take care.
  16. Looking forward to a good game this evening. Everyone travel safely.
  17. West fans should get there early, seating on the visitor's side is at a premium.
  18. Multiple offensive threats are available with MW this year. The two seniors that MW lost to graduation are notable, but nonetheless, MW has regrouped. The defensive line was quite impressive at Swain County. Not sure how that will translate against JC, but it was fun to watch last Friday night.
  19. With your traditional fashion, it looks like they'll have their business set for the week then. See you Friday.
  20. You could use a little septic service yourself JC - let's just let the players decide things Friday night.
  21. Jeff Co looked good in the Jamboree the other night. The Robbins kid on defense looks pretty tough. The Morristown West team that was at the Jamboree wasn't the one I saw last night. The team I saw last night was more cohesive and played very strong. Friday night ought to be interesting.
  22. Thanks for the kind words. We enjoyed the trip over and best of luck to Swain and the rest of the season. Saw some good things on both sides of the ball, should be an interesting season. Nice job, Trojans.
  23. Should expect about the same number as the last time Morristown West travelled to Swain Co. The team looked pretty good at the jamboree Friday night - I'm sure a few adjustments will be made this week. We'll see how this year goes, Swain Co. is always a good test for the start of the year. See you Friday night.
  24. It looks like you got your money's worth from your thesaurus. Good luck to Fulton.
  25. From what I saw on both fields during other contests, the teams shared one sideline while the fans had the opportunity to view friends, family and kids on the playing field. Fans next to the field take their chances when "posting up" next to the field and I saw fans get hit at each contest - they need to understand the consequences of being that close. Regarding the screaming at the Falcon players, the tone of voice was escalated secondary to the multiple simple requests and outright arrogance returned - to quote: "...I ain't movin' for no woman - you better gimme my props...". Decorum prevents some of the other statements that were made. Either move the venue or close it completely to the fans. Possibly, if the team had followed suit as the rest of the teams during the scrimmage, it never would have been an issue.
